Treants and Vines

The next morning, Liu Kai woke up early. He cooked breakfast for Choi Nayeon, naked under the blanket, still sleeping on the mattress.

He lightly tapped her arm to wake her up.

"Hey, breakfast is ready," he informed her newly woken girlfriend while keeping eye contact with her. He gently smiled and slowly went closer to her and kissed her lips.

She instantly kissed back and touched the back of Liu Kai's head, pulling him back to the bed. Liu Kai touched her soft cheeks while kissing her and went above her body. They shared a passionate kiss for a while before they stopped to breathe.

"Good morning. This breakfast is tasty kekeke," she jokingly whispered.

Liu Kai chortled and whispered, "Good morning. Let's get up before something else happens between us."

They stood up, holding hands as they went to the kitchen. They sat on a high chair, facing each other. Between them is a high wooden kitchen isle, the heights below their chest. Of course, this is Choi Nayeon's house, after all. She made sure to design it like a bar since she's a heavy drinker.

"Please dig in." Liu Kai gestured to her to eat.

They both dig in on the foods in front of them that Liu Kai prepared earlier.

***After eating***

"By the way, I have a lot of important things to do today. How about you?" asked Liu Kai, still sitting at the chair in the kitchen facing Choi Nayeon.

"I'll start to work again today. You're going to be back here at night, right?"

"Yes, I've already informed the Chief that I'll stay here for a while. Well... they didn't know that it's actually here."

"Alright, take your time and tell them soon."

"Yes, Ma'am."

They laughed together and prepared to leave. Liu Kai escorted Choi Nayeon to her workplace, the hot spring. He kissed her forehead before Nayeon went inside the establishment.

He went directly to the Chief's Smithy and felt his presence inside. As expected, the Chief's already there before the sun is even up in the sky. He's really a Chief that everyone can count on.

Clang, clang, clang.

He already heard sounds of metal clashing to another metal as he walked closer.

Once inside, he saw Chief hammering a sword.

"Chief!"

Chief Brashford stopped what he's doing and immediately removed his blacksmith helmet.

"You're early!"

"Yes, Chief!"

"I finished doing it yesterday. It's already at our house."

"Ahhh..."

"Is there a problem with that?"

"No, Chief. I'll get it to our house. Thanks a lot."

Liu Kai left the smithy after he bowed down to Chief Brashford to bid farewell to him. He thought it wouldn't get finished yesterday because it would take a lot of time to produce those types of equipment. But it looked like he underestimated Chief Brashford's capabilities.

Another reason why he woke up early to pick up the items in the Smithy is that he doesn't want the three knights to see him. He informed them yesterday that he won't stay in the house for the time being. They are already suspicious of him, so he's avoiding them.

He doesn't want them to know what he's about to do, after all.

He entered the house and quickly looked for his equipment. He quickly found it on the kitchen table and grabbed it. He felt that they were inside their quarters, but he wasn't sure if they were asleep or not. He doesn't want to know and quickly head outside, but they quickly went out after perceiving his presence.

"Where are you going?" asked Jin Chow innocently.

"I have personal business to do," Liu Kai nonchalantly replied, not looking at them and on his way out.

Everyone has a confused look on their face, except King Lee, who sat at the couch, still gloomy and didn't give any care at all.

"Why do you need new equipment?" Jin Chow continued to ask and walked faster to stop him from his tracks.

"Just don't look for me the whole day." Liu Kai walked past Chow and went outside the house.

"Wait, I shall come with you," stated Sergio, following him outside the house. Sergio has no idea about what he's thinking, but he suspects Liu Kai will do something insane. He knew that Liu Kai was guilty too; well, to be fair, everyone on the raid does. But he knew that Liu Kai wouldn't stay still with that feeling, and that's what he felt too. He would definitely think of a way to make up for it.

"I said it was personal business," said Liu Kai, tilted his head to glare at Sergio.

Sergio Von Croy nodded and went back to the house. Once inside, he spread his senses to know where Liu Kai was heading.

'Where is he going this early and with his weapons?' Sergio thought to himself, leaning his back at the door, whose eyes closed, and using his sense to perceive Liu Kai.

Liu Kai realized that Sergio perceived him, but he disregarded it. He went straight to the west of the village and changed his outfit in the forest, wearing his chainmail, tunic, and new cloak.

Liu Kai kept running and prepared for combat. Sergio was right about him. He can't remain idle as he wanted to make up for their loss on the raid. He wanted to share some of the blames from King Lee, after all.

He traveled far from the village and finally stopped at the edge of a cliff. He can't forget this scenery and the memories he had with this place.

'Fang Shi, the fallen country.'

The vines came out from the ground and form the structure of the Treants. After some time, they can already be identified from their distinct shapes. Giant bugs, Wang Xiu Ying and his co-martial artists, Khunder and Krugarl, and all the dwarves that died on the raid were summoned and stood beside him.

Watching them form gave Liu Kai a spine-chilling feeling. But Liu Kai needs to get used to it if he's going to utilize them often to add firepower.

The Treants were staring at him, waiting for his order.

'Let me try something first.'

'Why it's not working on Berserk?'

'I thought I could control everything.'

He disregarded it for now.

He pointed his short kama on his right hand to Fang Shi below the cliff and ordered, "Kill all the giant bugs in range and throw their dead bodies here on this cliff."

The Treants nodded and jumped to attack the giant bugs. The Treants of the dwarves remained with him and began firing from the cliff.
