4 Jin Chow

"AAAAAAAAH!! What's up with this forest!? Cockroaches shouldn't be this big!" Liu Kai screamed at the top of his lungs, still being chased down by a six-meter long giant cockroach.

After creating enough distance from the giant cockroach that followed him, he looked back to check if the other was also pursuing him. Thankfully it isn't. Maybe it took care of the ootheca that falls on the floor.

He ran through the forest like an Olympic sprinter and eventually led to an open field outside the trees' cover.

"It will eat me alive if it catches me," he said as the giant cockroach started flapping its disgusting insect wings and took flight.

"NO! NO! NO! PLEASE NOT A DEATH LIKE THIS!" Liu Kai repeatedly said as the cockroach was flying, trying to catch up to him.

It tried to bite him multiple times by lowering its head to bite him while still flying above, but Liu Kai dodged all of it by changing direction or stopping midway.

"GIVE ME A BREAK PLEASE. I RATHER DIE BY GETTING HIT BY A TRUCK THAN THIS!" Liu Kai screamed his frustrations while running as fast as he could.

The cockroach finally caught up to him and hovered over Liu Kai then pinned him down to the ground as it landed.

"Ugh, here it comes." He braced himself by covering his face using his arms and closing one of his eyes while the other one was slightly open.

The cockroach opened its humongous mouth revealing two mandibles with jagged razor-like teeth, oozing with slime as it growled.

"Noooo! Not a death like this, please, please, please."

"Aaaacccckkkk." Liu Kai made a sound from the pain as the giant cockroach bit down on the right side of his torso since he covered his face, and it lifted him. It wiggled him in the air then threw him across the field.

He was thrown fifteen meters with great speed and hit a tree, spewing blood from his mouth from the impact. Blinding pain was felt throughout his entire body as he landed back on the ground.

'That bite should've cut me in half, but it didn't penetrate my body deep enough to leave a critical wound. And that throw should've killed me instantly. So why am I not even losing consciousness right now?' He thought as he was still bleeding on the ground, gripping his side that was bitten by the giant insect.

'Something changed for sure. I don't know what it is, but it seems I can move faster and my body became sturdier.' His thoughts were becoming more transparent as the colossal insect faced his direction. He suddenly realized how fast he ran earlier to avoid the giant cockroach.

But he stopped thinking about it because it's all useless since he's still going to die if he didn't escape this situation.

The gigantic cockroach came at him with great speed and tried to pin him down once more, but he quickly rolled over to get out of its grip. He stood up and ran beneath the cockroach's body while still holding his right torso with his left hand, where it couldn't see him.

Liu Kai moves to where the insect is facing each time, blocking its field of vision. Liu Kai then ran to the forest the moment the cockroach was distracted.

"Idiot! What was I thinking? Running to an open field like that?" The cover of the trees should prevent the cockroach from flying.

So he ran towards the forest again but not in the direction they came from to avoid the other cockroach.

He was injured, but for some reason, he felt more potent compared to when the insect attacked him. The cockroach had difficulty following him deep in the forest, where there were a lot of trees.

Liu Kai could tell that the giant cockroach lost his trail based on the sounds he heard. Somehow, his senses were also heightened.

'Not only my speed and my body, but also my senses are sharper?' He thought as he kept up his pace, making sure to put distance between him and the giant insect.

"Hey! What's the rush—Whoa!"

Liu Kai, who was lost in thought while running, didn't notice the man who suddenly appeared in front of him and collided. The man was knocked back a few feet from the collision's impact while Liu kai landed on his backside.

"What the heck man? What's your problem? Popping out of nowhere like that?!" Liu Kai said as he got up and brushed off the dust on his clothes.

The mysterious man seemed to be in his early 20's with a good looking face, a well-trained body, taller than him, and was wearing a medieval-type armor.

"What? You're the one who bumped me. I had no idea that someone was going to run right at me in this place. And for your information, I didn't see you 'til it was too late." The man exclaimed while still sitting on the ground, but he calmed down right away after seeing Liu Kai's state.

"I'm Jin Chow, by the way. Oh! And are you okay? You're injured pretty badly. What happened?" The man asked as he also got up and took a good look at Liu Kai.

"The name's Liu Kai. Yeah... Uuh… Help me, I got caught up with this giant cockroach inside the forest and tried to eat me," Liu Kai explained, pointing at the direction he last saw the insect.

"Are you serious?! BWAHAHAHAHA!!" Jin Chow burst out laughing.

"What's so funny!?"

"You are! HAHAHAHAHA"

"What is wrong with you!? I am telling you the truth?!" Liu Kai shouted as he grabbed Jin Chow's breastplate and pulled him closer to lower him to his face level.

"Woah there! A guy who got injured this much by a mere cockroach is trying to fight with me? Now that... is funnier." Jin Chow grabbed Liu Kai's hand that was holding his breastplate and squeezed it. He gripped so hard that Liu Kai fell to his knees from the sudden pain and couldn't even react.

"Acckkk! A mere cockroach? I just told you it's a GIANT COCKROACH. We should move before it eats us." Liu Kai emphasized the giant cockroach as he thought that Jin Chow is thinking about a regular cockroach while still on his knees on the ground.
