50 A Man with a Dark Hooded Cloak and Dual Scythes

"Sergio, there are hordes of giant bugs in our way!" Jin Chow exclaimed, looking at Sergio, asking about what they should do.

Sergio narrowed his eyes at the horde in their path. "We won't avoid it. Khundehr's party was designated in that area." Sergio declared, taking the mantle of being the leader for the time being.

"Chow! Lead them! I'll strike the rear to slow down these creatures chasing us!" Sergio announced before he took flight.

"Copy!" Jin Chow looked back at the Horde's direction again after Sergio caught his attention. He narrowed his eyes and ordered, "Everyone prepare for combat!" Jin Chow shouted, raising his hammer while running, preparing to attack.

HAAAAAAA!!!

They roared as they waged an attack, screaming on top of their lungs as they fought for their lives.

SWOOOOOSH!!!

"Liu Kai!?" Jin Chow uttered, looking at Liu Kai, who emerged from the horde and slashed his way out. Karden is on his back while he walks closer to them, while the horde is on the ground, dead and slowly regenerating.

"Why is Karden here?" King Lee asked, shivering about what he's thinking.

"The range of the Giant Cursed Tree expanded and attacked our snipers. He's the only survivor. I didn't get here on time," said Liu Kai, carefully pulling Karden from his back to carry it in his arms after he hung his weapon's chain on his belt holder.

"These creatures... They look like cockroaches, grasshoppers, or crickets judging from their body structures. But they are more violent and tougher than usual. Maybe because of the plant coating covering their body." Liu Kai added.

They are supposed to be weak giant bugs, but for some reason, they are stronger than their normal counterpart. Maybe because of the plants all over their body giving them protection and strength.

Liu Kai groaned in agony, bitten by a bug who's not yet fully recovered on the ground. His waist is in the center of its giant mandibles, being sliced that also dropped his kamas on the ground, while he's carrying Karden in his arms. He looked at them and carelessly threw Karden on their way.

"What the heck?" King Lee complained after he caught the dwarf.

"Let him have his way, he's always like that when he's skill is activated. At least he's an ally." Jin Chow explained, scratching his head.

Liu Kai held the mandibles and forcefully pushed it to open.

"DAMN YOU!!!" Liu Kai pushed it so strongly that the mandibles ripped off from its jaw.

KIIIIECCCK!!!

"Shut up!!!"

He picked up his kamas, and it transformed into two giant scythes. The centipede-like chain that connects the handle was cut in half and wrapped around the handle of his kamas. His aura also formed a skull at the tip of the handle, and the blade glowed in crimson red.

The hooded full-body cloak slowly turned jet black from brown, covering his whole body. His hood is now longer and bigger, covering his entire face from its shadow. Only his eyes that are glowing in red can be seen from the shadows.

Jin Chow, who's looking at him, widened his eyes and said, "He's equipment, it upgrades."

'So that's how it reacts to his skill when triggered,' King Lee talked to himself, carrying Karden in his arms.

Liu Kai looked down at the bug in front of him, holding his kamas that turned into scythes.

SWOOOOOSH!

He slit it so deep that its entire body withered away.

"More! More! More! Entertain me more. HAHAHAHAHA!" Liu Kai chortled, facing the sky while just standing there and extending his arms to his side while laughing like a maniac.

"All of you fall back! Jin Chow and Sergio Von Croy, please know where's the limit of the Giant Cursed Tree's range. Let the rest go back to the village and come back for me and Liu Kai. We'll hold them here!" King Lee instructed, finally snapped out of his mental distress.

"Roger Sir!" replied Jin Chow in unison with Sergio, who just arrived.

Jin Chow brought Karden from King Lee and ran towards the west.

"I'll create a path! Everyone, please follow me," vocalized Jin Chow.

He ran as fast as he could while carrying Karden in his arms.

"OUT OF MY WAY!"

Jin Chow expelled everyone in his path, creating a way for Sergio and the remaining survivors.

King Lee joined Liu Kai in the battle against countless giant bugs swarming the area, keeping all of them at bay to buy time for the others to flee.

"You're not using your Breathing Technique, use it at all times!" King Lee complained, standing beside him.

"I didn't ask for your lecture! Don't drag me down, kid, or I'll kill you with these damn pests." Liu Kai responded, clenching his weapon so hard, swallowed by his rage.

'His personality changed. Now he's so full of himself,' King Lee thought to himself, taking a glance at him.

"Alright monster! Let's do it then," replied King Lee, irritated by his cockiness.

GRAAAAAH!!!

Liu Kai pounced to the bugs surrounding them, slashing his scythes repeatedly, yelling, "Die, die, die, die, die, die, die, die, die!"

King Lee, on the other hand, activated his skill 'Hyper Quickness.'

He closed his eyes and everything went slow. He thought to himself, 'Relaxation is who you are. Calmness is mastery. Self-control is strength.'

He slowly opened his eyes, seeing multiple enemies closing at him.

"Monsuta Kira: Thousand Ken!"

"Woaaaahh…. Watatatatatatatata!!!" He rained punches on his enemies, which caused their bodies to explode in the process.

Disgusting green liquid squirted all over the place from the severed bodies.

"How long are we going to run?" Jin Chow asked Sergio, running on his side, while he's carrying Karden.

"Until no giant bugs are trailing us," answered Sergio.

"Don't worry about them, they can hold their own against those disgusting creatures," Sergio added. But in reality, he is a bit worried now unlike earlier.

Liu Kai and King Lee were panting after killing all of them and waiting for them to recover.

"This can't continue like this or our stamina won't last if this goes on," complained King Lee, wiping his sweat on the forehead with his right hand.

"Go with them if you're whining weakling! I'll handle it on my own!" Liu Kai yelled at him, annoyed about his complaints.

"YOUUU!!!" King Lee was about to grab his clothes, but Liu Kai glared at him, not wanting to back down. King Lee was frightened, looking at his murderous eyes that glowed in red.

"Tsk!" King Lee uttered, getting frustrated with the situation.

'What's up with this crazy guy? Is he thinking? He'll surely die if I leave him here.' thought King Lee, on his stance but glancing at Liu Kai.

The giant bugs revived and started to attack again.

"Ho!" Liu Kai smirked at them like it's getting interesting for him. Liu Kai charged and continued to slice them with his dual scythes. Every time a bug stands up, Liu Kai is the first to react to kill it again.

'Unbelievable, he doesn't seem like he's getting tired at all,' King Lee thought to himself, observing Liu Kai enjoying it like he's playing a whack a mole.
