12 Chapter 11

It has been 2 days since Luna disappeared. The girls are still investigating. Emily told the police about what she thought about. The police thought it was very meaningful, but Jardine Street is too big, they said.

Emily and Natalie made friends with the son of the officer in charge of this case, Wong Chi Ming. Most people call him Edward because that was his English name. 'Luna's your good friend, right? Jardine Street, huh? It's too big. No luck, I guess.'

'Jardine Street... Wait.. Does Luna look like this?' The police showed Emily and Natalie a pic during their meeting.

'WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT PIC????????' Natalie asked and her pen dropped on the floor. 'One of our staff saw a girl looking like this in the Jardine Street Carnival near SOGO. She was having a sad face. We thought she was sad because she didn't have any toys with her, but slowly we cheered her up. Here's a pic of her that day.'

'Officer Wong, a 23 year old man was arrested. We think he was the person who kidnapped Luna Wang. He was the terrorist who shot the gun in the carnival.' A police officer said.

'I don't know anything! I was called by my big boss to set fire on the carnival. Who is this girl? You can say I terrorised the Jardine Carnival, but I DID NOT kidnap this girl, whoever she is.' The terrorist answered. They did a lie detector test and proved the man to be true.

'Eh? We didn't catch the kidnapper? That's no good. We're back in level 0!' Emily sighed. 'That's not very helpful. But, arrest the terrorist. Did he had any information?' The police officer came over. 'We found a man who is a spy. He escaped out from the triad gangs. He has some information to give you.' The girls stood up. 'Thank you!' And ran towards the questioning room.

'Do you know this girl?' They asked, showing a picture of poor Luna.

'Oh yes! For goodness sake!' Cried the man. 'She's Luna Wang, isn't she?' 'Do you know—' 'Of course yes. I escaped from the triad gang because it's unfair. We're supposed to kidnap Noelle Ching. But, we kidnapped Luna instead. However, the big boss still wouldn't let Luna go and demanded more ransom. The original ransom is $500 000 USD. But, the big boss expanded the ransom to $800 000 USD. We told him not to do that, and he hit us. Look at the big scar on my head over there. That's where he hit me. That's why I escaped out of our secret headquarters. Here's the address of where Luna is.' The young man handed Emily and Natalie a piece of paper.

'Thank you! How can I repay you?' Natalie asked. 'Don't spread this to my gang. Now if you excuse m—' 'Why do you need to go back. You can start anew here in Hong Kong. You haven't committed any crimes, have you?' 'No, kid. You're the lucky ones. I'm not. My whole family's in the triad gang and my uncle's the big boss. I can't start over. I've been in the triad since I was a little boy. Give up. Wish you good luck.' The man sighed and walked away.

'Lemme see... 香��灣���銅鑼灣渣甸街61號...' The girls looked at the wrinkled up piece of paper the man had given them. They tried to find the English name for the address. 'I know! 61 Jardine Street, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai District, Hong Kong.' Natalie exclaimed. 'Let's tell the police!'

'Really? Let's start catching the thief!!' Emily and Natalie finally breathed a sigh of relief when they saw their friend Luna again. 'Luna!!' Natalie exclaimed. 'Don't disturb Miss Wang. She has taken a lot of sleeping pills during the past few days to make her shut up. That's how the triads do,' Edward shook his head despondently and told them. 'Okay... Sorry, Chi Ming,' Nat turned red as the police went to question Luna about what had happened to her. 'Gosh... I really want to catch the murderer quick. Hope Luna can give us some new clues. Maybe she was awake during the time of the kidnap. We can also learn about the triad gang.' Emily whispered to her friends. 'Hope so. Father doesn't tell me what's going on inside there. I pay the officers 500 Hong Kong dollars to get what I know,' Edward mumbled.

No, the big boss will be very angry. And the client too. What's her name?" "I do not know, Ah Tat. I just know the boss addresses her as Miss Cheng. She is also pretty deadly, I suppose. Wearing bright red clothes and very heavy makeup. She has followers too, for heavens sake. She looked like a young lady, but the followers all looked the Ta Ma. (大媽) Or the Sze Lai Bak Po (C 拉 白婆). Maybe even the Sam Gu Luk Po( 三姑六婆) listens to her wishes. Even the big boss is very scared of her. That's why the big boss immediately agreed to capture Noelle Ching." I was so scared. I was captured wrongly because of the colour scheme. Then why wouldn't they let me go?

'Ah Tat! Ah Hang! Good news! The client Miss Cheng just called and said she hates Noelle and Luna just the same, so she doesn't mind us kidnapping Luna. She wants Noelle and her siblings to be kidnapped too. Hey! Luna's blinking! Feed some more sleeping pills so she will not hear what we say!" I was fed a large spoonful of pills, then fell asleep.

'Okay, Miss Wang. Please get home and have some rest. Tell our staff to watch over the Ching siblings.

A girl stared out of her bedroom window. The sky was dark, and neon lights dazzled throughout the city. She did not tell her sisters about most parts of the incident. She pretended she didn't know anything about Luna's kidnap. She felt scared, grateful and terrified at the same time. She looked up at the shining sky, and saw the Hong Kong International Commerce Centre, the tallest building in Hong Kong and a popular tourist landmark.

'First Jessalyn that idiot, then Luna. Will I be next??? If I'm next, then... I... I...'
