Beta Testing

[Total players currently: 1]

"Secret Book is a series of smart journals created for the convenience of earth's top Predators. For each prey successfully hunted down, a point is issued in which the player is free to spend however they wish in the P-market. If the player successfully hunts for the first time within a week after they recieved an invite, a special book will be issued as a confirmation; binding the role and player. No two journals are the same.

If the player passes a week without accepting their role after recieving the journal, the journal will immediately disappear. Consequently, all of the player's memories concerning the journal will be erased. Players who are presumed dead or are inactive for more than 3 years after recieving the journal will have their journals revoked.

Telling other non-players about the journal will automatically ban the player permanently and have all their purchases and journals revoked. Depending on the severity of the damage, a bounty may also be placed on the player in which any player who hunts down the banned player and their accomplice/s will recieve benefits from the Main brain."

Sitting on the leather seat of his new car, Qin Feng read through what seamed to be a set of texts printed out on a golden journal.

"Oh, it went up." Qin Feng's expression immediately turned cold as he furrowing his brows. "Interesting."

Today marked as the fourth day since he received his journal. If this weren't some kind of prank, then that would mean he was now a player of a game run by a being that he'd rather not know. Whether it were a god or a devil, that was none of his business.

Four days ago, a golden journal suddenly appeared on his bedside table and, no matter where he went, it never stayed more than six feet away from him. It seemed like it wouldn't leave him alone unless he opened it and read its contents.

And so, after two days of the book's harassment, he finally gave in and opened it, only to see a cryptic invitation inside for some sort of beta testing of a messed up game.

[Welcome to Secret Book <Beta Testing>

Upon reading something like this, it would be a lie to say he wasn't tempted.

Shik... Shik...

In a dark alleyway, untouched by even the streetlights of the bustling Shanghai city, an agitated man flicked his pocket knife open and close anxiously.

Judging from his unwashed clothes, greasy hair, and the way his eyes swam around, trying to spot easy targets from the people who walked around, experiencing the night life and cheap street food even amidst the heavy rain, this was a man who was at the end of his luck.

At that moment, a lone high school girl jogged briskly through the sidewalk in an attempt to avoid getting wet without an umbrella, her arms carrying a heavy bag filled with books. Most likely, she had just finished cram school and was trying to catch a taxi.

At first, the man was hesitant. No matter how desperate he was, he still couldn't force himself to lay his hands on a minor but, as the thought of his debts arose, he couldn't help but grit his teeth and steel his resolve.

"I need it more than she does. God will forgive me." He exhaled, his eyes red with madness.

Rushing out of the dark alley, the man grabbed the girl's arm and flicked open his knife, hiding most of it in the sleeve of his jacket, only letting the tip protrude towards the girl's back.

The girl, feeling a sharp object on her back, paled, her thoughts turning into a jumbled mess in panic.

"If you scream, this knife will stab you." A trembling voice hissed in her ear as a gust of rancid breath blew past her face but, she was too panicked to scrunch her nose in disgust.

Suddenly, the grip on her arm tightened, snapping her out of her panicked thoughts temporarily. The grip was so tight that her arm began to grow numb. Perhaps, afterwards, bruises by the shape of the man's hand would appear.

"Take out all of your money, your phone... Anything expensive you have on you, take them out." The man hissed, his eyes reddening more when he saw the girl not moving at all in fear. "Quickly!"

With trembling hands, the girl reached for her bag while discretely glancing around but was left disappointed when she realized that, with the coverage of the rain and the heavy crowds, no one noticed what was happening here.

It was eight in the evening of a stormy night and they were in the part of the street which was considerably darker than the other parts. Not many people thought to glance at this specific alley.

But, in a single car which was parked not far away from where they were, someone was watching everything that was happening coldly.

"Right on time." Qin Feng muttered monotonously, his voice drowned out by the sound of raindrops hitting his car and the steady rhythm of the windshield wiper. "It seems that I am too slow, just when I'm trying to decide, fate ends up deciding for me."

He shifted the gear out of park and drove out, speeding towards the location on the other side of the road where a robbery was taking place.

"Then let's have a go at it and see what happens."

Seeing as no one would save her, the girl resigned herself to her fate but, the moment she grabbed her wallet, a white sports car roared towards them, not stopping until it was just inches away.

"Aahh!!!"

The man, who was already in an agitated state, was unable to bear the sudden surprise of a car barreling towards him and fell on his butt, drenching himself further with dirty puddle water, his pants ripping in the process as he screamed.

The girl, however, just stood, staring at the car blankly. It was only when an impeccably handsome man exited the car and glared coldly at the man who was robbing her that she snapped out of her daze.

"I, I-" Seeing another man suddenly appear, the robber knew that he had been caught and panicked. Immediately, he turned to run towards the other side of the street in order to escape.

"You!" Thinking that the robber was about to get away, the girl was about to give chase but, the moment she was about to cross the street, Qin Feng immediately grabbed her arm, confusing the girl. "Wha-"

SCREECH! BANG!

Hearing the loud sound, the girl turned back to look and was shocked to find that the robber had actually been hit by an eight wheeler truck that was unable to brake on time due to the slippery road and was stuck beneath its wheels.

It was obvious by the blood that splattered around where his head should've been that he was dead.

"AAHH!!!" The girl screamed in fear, shutting her eyes tightly as her heart beat so hard, she could feel it in her throat.

Qin Feng, having expected this outcome already, calmly took out his phone and called the emergency hotline, all the while comforting the hysteric girl.
