Li Yan's New Class

The loudspeaker was faint and with the noise the canteen emitted, the person speaking could barely be heard. "What?" Li Yan was undeniably frustrated, wishing to go to assembly and not stand around any longer, besides, the girl beside her was uncannily quiet which made Li Yan umcomfortable and awkward as she searched for another topic of interest." P..ease report to.....hall...morning...assemb....."The loudspeaker proved useful at last. Beckoning to Kyline, the two girls walked up the staircase, one relieved and the other unfathomably quiet.

The Principal was a old man by the name of Mr John Tan. He had wrinkles by his eyes and stress linwe imminent on his forehead. It was lucky that he was not bald in the middle or it would have proven infavourable to his already unimpressionable appearance. Nevertheless, Mr Tan still had twinkles in his eyes, which made Li Yan's hope rise. Li Yan looked around at the gigantic hall and the sea of cream-grey. Li Yan was already accoustomed to the noise level of the students in primary school, so adapting to secondary school's noise level was a piece of cake. Further more, she considered that this school seemed to be more sophisticated than her old one. She looked at her future classmates. They all looked too unfamiliar and all were slouching and staring around. Li Yan didn't pay much attention to the girl beside her but rather tried to strike up a conversation with Kyline again. She was hoping that they would become friends and perhaps even to the level of best friends. But it was hard to communicate with her, Kyline seemed reluctant to talk much and reserved her questions to Li Yan. Li Yan knew that one of the most important things to have in school was a friend,so she was eager to make friends. This time she was the one to step out and make a friend. Li Yan recalled her previous principal's advise of making friends," Go up to them and say hello!" How ridiculous. Making friends was easy but true friends are really hard to find. "Say hello?" Li Yan remembered the way friends had come to her in primary school. She was kind of like Kyline, reserved and quiet, a model student. Even after four years of having a best friend,Li Yan still couldn't say that her old best friend was really considered her true friend.
