15 Teste of Discipline (New Version)

It is still midday in the game, so Ye Yan could do another test before he needs to log out. He went to meet the commander and found him in the fighter training camp instructing five soldiers that were with him. Xia Hou Lian said to him to wait while he finished teaching the soldiers.

About 20 minutes later, the Commander lead him to his tent for them to speak. He looked at Ye Yan in an approving way and started to speak.

"You really impressed me. The Courage test is considered one of the most difficult between the five. The only person that got to finish this test in the last 100 years was my grandfather, Xia Hou Dun, and he told me some about it. The test can test not only your courage but your patience too. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the Test of Awareness before so I couldn't continue with the tests, and only now, I become wise enough to understand the test's true wisdom."

System: 'You have completed the Job Change Quest: Test of Courage. 200 exp. gained.'

"But the Test of Courage isn't as simple as it looks. The trial tested more than a person's courage, it tests their determination to reach their goal. Even in face of a spell that tried to annoy and tempt you on your trial, you have made your decision and follow it until the end. In truth, you have passed not only the Test of Courage but the Test of Determination as well. Congratulations!"

System: 'You have completed the Job Change Quest: Test of Determination. 200 exp. gained.'

'Two for the price of one? Great! I love these sales promotions.' Now Ye Yan only needs 280 of experience to level up again. He requires to be level 5 to do complete the quest, so he hopes that the next quests can give him even more experience points.

"Your next challenge will be the Test of Discipline. You will need to show the ability to restrain yourself even in front of the most trying things. You need to control your impulses, desires, or emotions for the sake of improvement. You need to forge yourself in the fire of your willpower. You have to follow your path without straying in the face of obstacles. And self-control is the skill needed to achieve any goal or desired outcome. So, Jun Xie, the power to pass this test is in your own hands. Now follow me." The commander led Ye Yan to another room with two arrays identical to the others. He pointed to the one on the left and said. "This array will take you to your next trial."

Ye Yan was teleported to the entrance of a cave and behind him is the ocean, so he can only go ahead and enter the cave. This time he almost didn't feel any strangeness in his body after the transfer.

The cave is very long and has torches on the wall every 3 meters. Ye Yan followed the torches and after 20 minutes of walking, he found an exit. He proceeds with caution because he didn't know what he can find on the other side. He crouched and tried to peek but the light hurt his eyes and he had to wait for almost one minute to get to see outside of the cave. After his vision got back to normal, he could finally see what was happening. There is an encampment not far from the exit of the cave and many trees around it, which isn't very safe for them.

Ye Yan used the trees to get near enough to see what is happening inside the camp but to no avail because there is a wooden wall surrounding the entire place and he can only see through the entrance gate from afar. He looked around trying to find a good location to observe the camp but the trees a tall and impossible to climb. He sneaked through the bushes while looking around a finally saw that there is some indentation on the wall the enable him to climb. Ye Yan almost zeroed his stamina before getting to the top of the hill. Stamina can be spent running, defending using a shield, climbing, and other activities that need a lot of physical effort.

The top of the hill has almost nothing, only rocks, grass, and four trees that he has no idea how did it grow there. He lay on the edge of the hill with only his eyes outside and looked at the camp. He didn't have supervision but the hill isn't very high, which enables him to see everything inside the camp.

Ye Yan discovered that it is an orc encampment. There are only one orc there and someone trapped inside a small cage that he can't identify from there. The orc looks taller than Ye Yan by three feet, has grayish skin, jutting jaws, prominent teeth, sloping forehead, coarse body hair, and looks very strong.

He opened the scroll of identification that he receives from the Adventurers' Guild and the information of the orc appeared written on it. The orc is a fucking level 20 monster elite monster. How can Ye Yan kill it?

When he almost going crazy trying to find a solution, he heard the system voice.

System: You can use the special skill [Assassinate] for a limited time. In the duration of the test, the skill will become a one-hit K.O. move but you have only one chance to use it. The temporary effect will only activate if you use the skill without the enemy's knowledge of it, even in death. Losing this opportunity means the failure of the test, then use it with caution.

Ye Yan breathed a sigh of relief. At least now, he has a way to defeat it. The position he chose is perfect to use this move, so he just needs to wait for the enemy to go to the position near the steep side of the hill for him to attack. The problem is that it can take a long time for him to enter in position and Ye Yan can't do anything that may alert the orc. So he waited and waited in the same position for hours, without giving up, until the opportunity came.

The orc went to the place near the wall and Ye Yan, holding his knife in a backward grip with his right hand, took a leap of faith and executed an aerial assassination on the orc. He fell on top of the orc, nailing the knife to his neck. The move was executed to perfection and Ye Yan only loses half of his hit points when he touched the ground.

System: You have completed the Job Change Quest: Test of Discipline. 200 exp. gained and one skill book.

Ye Yan looked at his bag and at the orc's body after but he dropped nothing but the key to open the cage. He thought that, maybe, the skill book can be found in a chest inside one of the tents.

He went to the cage and opened it. A small fairy comes out of the cage so fast that he couldn't see even her shadow but she came back and stood flying in front of him.

"Free, free, free, I am finally free!" She spoke excitedly and went to the orc's body. She started to kick it with her tiny bare feet and when she felt that she hadn't vented enough, she started to fly high and drop, kicking him sometimes in the stomach and others, in his groin. When she vented enough, she went back to Ye Yan.

"Thank you, human. Because of you, I didn't become food for this beast." She said giving him a very cute smile and soon after, he take a book from thin air and handed it to him. "Here. Take it as my thank you gift."

"I perceive your presence on the top of this hill. You had to endure stay in the same position for a long time. I really admire you. You not only show discipline but your commitment to your cause." She said smiling.

[At least, after everything I had to suffer and almost become a statue, I got an incredible skill. Wait, she said commitment? Buy one, get one free again?']

"Now that I am free, we can leave this forsaken place." The fairy said overexcited.

The little fairy started to recite a spell and after 5 seconds, they appeared in the room with the two arrays. This time, as it was too sudden, Ye Yan suffered some motion sickness again.

"You are back!" The commander said smiling but soon noticed the fairy. "And this is?"

"Don't know."

"WHAT? We are friends and you don't even know my name?" The fairy becoming incensed.

"You never told me." He said with a serious face.

"Ohh! My name is Evy! You need to remember it for next time or I will dye your hair pink. Humpf. Now, I need to go to my queen." And the fairy was gone just like that.

"What was that all about?" The commander asked.

"Too much sugar, probably[1]."

"...."

The commander looked at Ye Yan and started to analyze him.

"I can see that you not only passed the tests but became strong as well. "

"You really are a warrior that can be seen only once every hundred years. Are you ready for the Final Test?'

"Yes!"

"Good! The final test is nothing more than you starting to show that you are a fighter in spirit. We received a letter asking for helping to save a village in the southeast of the city because they have been attacked by evil beings. Your mission is to go there and solved the problem. Here is the map with the village location and a [Basic Teleportation Scroll] for you came back after the end of your mission. Good luck!"

"I'm leaving." Ye Yan got the impression that this mission isn't as simples as the commander made it out to be.

When he left the Military Camp, it was almost dusk, so he logs out to begin another day in real life.
