Chapter 33: Urgent News

It was rather ironic. Loraine used to be one of those assistants cursing her boss for wasting money on something like this.

Mr. Bale had also gone on events like this, and she used to think he was wasting money.

If it were Loraine in her previous life, looking at the several hundred thousand thrown just for betting, she would have wanted to scold them.

Now, however, she couldn't say anything because Lorna had already placed several hundred thousand for her. Her guards didn't want her to lose, so she let it be.

Well, it would be strange if she, the richest person here, didn't bet any.

Her guards had pride to keep, too. Lorna seemed quite determined to bet when she knew it would be a win.

Loraine kind of understood now; they weren't exactly throwing away money. They were simply having fun.

This money was nothing to them, so they were not wasting it. This was their kind of fun, and they had a lot of money.

It wasn't like they stole it or anything. It was legitimately their money, so what was the problem with them spending it?

If they got through unscrupulous ways, then that was where it was wrong.

Here, however, they were simply playing like how normal people would have had fun in the way that they know.

This was how these people knew to have fun, so they were simply doing it.

It was wrong if they spent money here betting even if they couldn't afford it. That would be vanity and simply trying to live like the others do.

This group, though, was all wealthy and had the right to spend their money the way they wanted to.

They played for a long time, and the one who won was Mark, one of the best players in golf in their circle.

Loraine also received a lot because she bet on Mark. She happily received several thousand from the others.

The amount didn't even change much of her account balance, but she was still happy to receive money without much effort.

Her savings in her last life do not even add up to what she received from the bet. And that was money she earned for years.

This was the difference of being wealthy.

Thinking about it, Loraine sighed deeply.

She worked hard for many years, but the amount she received didn't even amount to what she got from just playing golf for a bit. And she spent all her time working back then. She even died because of it.

What a sad life she had lived before.

After playing for a long time, everyone was feeling hungry. Thus, they went to the dining room, which was just a building away from the entrance of the golf course.

"Loraine, how was the game?" Layla inquired. She was acting all nice this time. She was quite well behaved compared to how she was in the past.

"It's good. I won this time," Lorraine grinned. She had quite a lot of fun.

"Yes, congratulations! Why didn't you tell me you were going to bet on Mark?" Layla pouted.

"You're thinking of betting together with me again, right? But I'm sorry, you need to start thinking by yourself," Loraine said while laughing at Layla, who was sulking.

While they were eating and talking about the latest gossip, she was suddenly disturbed by one of her bodyguards.

"Sorry, Miss Loraine, Mr. Hansen called, and he said he needed to inform you about something urgently."

Hearing that it was Mr. Hansen who called, Loraine knew that it should be something truly important.

"I'm sorry, guys. Something came up, so I need to leave." Loraine immediately said goodbye to the others and went home.

While in the car, she was still contemplating what important news Mr. Hansen received to even call her home immediately.

At this time, Loraine didn't know that the news she was going to receive would change her current life.

Loraine was trying to think of what Mr. Hansen would say in the car because he usually didn't meddle with what she was doing.

"Mr. Mo, did Mr. Hansen say anything more specific?" Loraine inquired of Mr. Mo, who was sitting in the front seat.

"Mr. Hansen didn't say anything more. He just said that you need to go home immediately. It sounded very urgent," Mr. Mo responded, staring back at Loraine.

Loraine couldn't think of any reason why Mr. Hansen would call her urgently.

Thus, she closed her eyes and rested for a few moments. She was tired of playing golf. She was more weary from being anxious, though.

The entire time they hung out, Loraine was worried about being discovered and not getting along with the other members of the group.

Fortunately, no one noticed any change. Her personality appeared to be very similar to that of the original Loraine.

After several minutes, Lorna called her.

"Miss Loraine, we are already on the estate."

"Okay, let's go."

Loraine fixed her clothes and hair a bit and went out.

"Welcome back, Miss Loraine!"

The guards immediately greeted her as soon as they saw her getting out of the car.

"Where is Mr. Hansen?" she asked the younger housekeeper standing by the door.

"Hello, Miss Loraine. Mr. Hansen is currently talking to Mr. Flint," the housekeeper replied politely.

Mr. Flint was one of her father's secretaries.

"Okay, just tell Mr. Hansen to knock on my door later," Loraine ordered.

She was bothered as to why Mr. Flint, one of her father's secretaries, was calling Mr. Hansen.

Employees in the company and the estate rarely interact with one another.

His father's secretary would only contact the estate when there was a banquet to be held on the estate, rather than in one of their hotels.

There will be no banquets held right away because her father was not even present.

So, now that they had been chatting for a while, it meant that they were discussing something else.

In any case, she would find out later.

Loraine tried to stay calm and went back to her room without thinking about it any further.
