Chapter 31: The Fellow Cannon Fodder

"Loraine, long time no see!

I haven't seen you for a long time.

What have you been doing for the past two months?" Layla asked as soon as Loraine was near.

"Well, I went sightseeing for a while," Loraine replied while sitting.

"So, who else did you invite? Why are you the only one here?" Loraine asked Layla because, aside from Layla's bodyguards, she was the only one in the area.

"I invited a few more people from our university and the circle. I think they will be arriving soon. I told them to arrive at 10 a.m."

"Then why did you bother asking me to arrive at 9 a.m.?" Loraine tilted her head.

It meant she was an hour early. She could have spent that time getting some more sleep.

"Of course, to have more time to talk to you! And you didn't even arrive at nine. It's already 9:30. In a few minutes, the others will start arriving," Layla said while rolling her eyes.

"Why do I even need to arrive on time? It's not like we're going to do something important," Loraine said. She had to wake up early for this.

"So, you think meeting me isn't important? "Layla asked while gritting her teeth.

"I didn't say anything like that. You're the one who said it," Loraine said, smirking.

"Loraine, you're becoming mean." Layla pouted.

"Where do you think I got it? Isn't it from you?" Loraine pointed out.

"Oh, I'm really great!" Layla praised herself for influencing her friend, even though it was a bad influence.

Her logic was kind of askew that it was funny.

"Anyway, where did you even go for the past two months? The last time I heard about you was when you went with Regina and the others to 'The Z Club'.

"I already told you, I went sightseeing," Loraine was too lazy to talk in detail.

"Where?" Layla still pressed on, though, since she also had this kind of attitude. Nothing was stopping her from asking questions.

"Just on Mt. Kang and all around Le Country."

"What?! You went around Le Country, and you didn't even invite me!"

Layla didn't care about Mt. Kang at all since it was a mountain.

"Why should I?

You were also touring around Hati, right?

Did you even remember inviting me?" Loraine countered.

"Why should I invite you? When I'm touring Hati with my boyfriend? Hmmp," Layla boasted.

"Oh, you see?

You didn't even remember me when you were enjoying your time with your boyfriend, so why would I even invite you?

Once I invited you, I knew you were going to call your boyfriend and visit me together.

I don't want to be a third wheel," Loraine replied matter-of-factly.

Loraine was perfectly fine with being single. But not with being the third wheel.

It was one of the worst feelings in the world.

Just imagine two people being all sweet and lovey-dovey, so absorbed in their own world, and you had to be with them and watch them like you did not even exist.

Who would want to do that?

And they still dare to ask the question, "Why can't I come with my boyfriend?"

The answer was crystal clear, and yet they acted like they did not realize it.

If they would focus on their boyfriend anyway while meeting with a friend, then it was better to not meet at all.

It would have been fine if it was a group date. But if it wasn't, it was simply horrible to stay on the side, wasting your time watching them be all sweet and cuddly when they could have done it when everyone else was gone.

It's called respect.

Why waste the time of other people meeting up when they would simply waste their time in the meet-up anyway since they barely talk because they are focused on their lovers?

Layla was among those kinds of people, so Loraine didn't want to meet with her at first.

But when Layla said there would be other people, at least Loraine wouldn't be alone once Layla's boyfriend arrives and she was all over him.

Loraine learned from the original owner's memories about the personality of her friend.

Layla was inseparable from her boyfriend.

She could still vividly remember the original Miss Antares' memories of the past. And it was that every time they went out, even if Layla promised she was the only one coming, she would still come with her boyfriend.

What was even worse was that she had already changed her boyfriend five times.

Sometimes Layla even brings someone as company, even if it was not her boyfriend.

That was why the original Miss Antares' was repeatedly forced to watch a real-life drama when Layla's current boyfriend would come and Layla was with another guy.

Instead of enjoying her vacation, Loraine would be dragged to solve the problems Layla had made.

She would rather not be in that kind of troublesome situation.

In the past, Loraine often dissuaded Layla not to bring just anyone when she was with her, but to her disappointment, Layla would still do so.

That was why, when traveling, if Loraine didn't want to ruin her vacation, she learned not to bring Layla around, even if the latter begged.

"At least I am still accompanying you," Layla pouted, knowing that it was her fault.

"Heh, are you accompanying me or your boyfriend? "Loraine asked sarcastically.

"Of course, I was accompanying you!" Layla said righteously, even though the people around her didn't even believe her. Her guards knew Layla was in the wrong, so they simply listened.

Some even sighed in exasperation since they had already witnessed it repeatedly and had to deal with the fights that happened when Layla's men ended up in fistfights.

Loraine just rolled her eyes.

Layla wanted to say something more to defend her claim, but she was cut off because of one of her bodyguards.

"Excuse me, Miss Layla, Miss Loraine. Some of your friends are already arriving."

"That's good! Guide them here," Layla said immediately, thankful that she didn't need to come up with other reasons to defend what she said.
