The Beginning of Death: Chapter 3

Odelette said something.

Odelette " Everyone, I believe we should work together to get through this with the most lives spared as possible."

Everyone started nodding their heads and they all began nodding their heads but one person stood out. It was Jack since he was currently trying to see what was going to happen next since he knew it could never be so simple as blocking a door.

That was when everyone heard a loud boom sound coming from the center of the room and suddenly some whip-like rope with what looked to be a hook on the end came out and grabbed one of the people and they were dragged into the hole.

Jack instantly knew something was going to come out of the hole so he decided that his best course of action was to make a break for the emergency exit and head to the exit stairway because he figured everyone was going to go out of the main doorway then head towards the main stairway that went up to the second floor since they were all trying to stay with the Delphine girl.

She seemed to be skilled at leading others and had a good personality but he didn't know if those were her true colors and didn't want to trust her because she may stab him in the back one day. He was all too used to people not staying true to their word or betraying him so that they could move up in their own little world.

Jack made it to the second floor in no time climbing one of the curtains that were on the wall and headed to the emergency stairway and headed straight up to the second floor. He then remembered that there was a vending machine on the second floor so he decided that he should get some food and drinks in case this tutorial took multiple days to complete.

He didn't know what the survival points were but he assumed that they would be important in the future so he thought it would be a good idea to stockpile some.

He started walking down the hallway and decided to try and use shadow armory so he thought about summoning a dagger and a dagger a black as the night appeared in his hand.

Jack thought 'This will be a useful skill since I won't have to carry a weapon on me at all times.'

He then began moving down the hallways trying to stay in the shadows so that nothing would notice him when he noticed that there was a monster that was identical to the one on the first floor walking around almost like he was patrolling the halls trying to find anyone on the first floor.

Jack quickly made his way into one of the rooms because he kne w it was going to be a imposible fight and decided that he should avoid it for now and maybe try to find a way where he would not have to put his life at risk to fight a battle he couldn't win.

After the monster passed him, Jack didn't move and drank some water since his throat was dry due to all the things happening and overwhelming him. He also noticed that the monster was heading towards the main stairway and knew that some people would not make it out of the encounter with the monster alive.

After a minute he heard screams of pain and agony coming from down the hall and decided it was safe to move towards the vending machine at the end of the hall. Jack made it to the vending machine and grabbed some food and water and stored it in his golden bag that seemed to have a larger space inside of it than what it seemed which he was a little surprised about.

After Jack got the food and water he went back to one of the classrooms and checked how much time he had till this part of the tutorial ended.

[Sender: The Guide]

- Make it to the second floor safe area before the time runs out.

- Time 2:20:14

Jack 'Maybe I should use the shadow summoning ticket now and see what it is about.'

Jack then pulled the small piece of balck paper and said "summon" when suddenly two balck hands reached out of the ground and what seemed to be a knight with a large great sword pulled itself out of what seemed to be the depths of nothingness.

The knight kneeled down infront as if kneeling down to his king jack saw a name and a grading near the knight and it said

[Shadow Knight Bellivir]

Grade: Knight

Jack was surprised and said "Hm I wonder if I will be able to get more of these shadow knights cause if so that monster won't be able to pose a threat to me and I may be able to make him into my shadow."

Jack also felt the knight was similar in strength to him and since the monster only felt a little stronger than him he may be able to beat it with the help of Bellivir.

After Jack decided to try and engage the monster he noticed a notification from the status window about a new skill.

- Shadow Extraction: (Grade Unknown) Allows you to extract the shadow of foes that you kill

-Shadow storage: (Grade Unknown) Allows you to store shadow soldiers in your shadow

- Shadow Armory: (Grade Unknown) Allows you to summon weapons or imbue weapons from your own shadow

2. Job Related Abilities

Jack now only had one of his innate abilities left to unlock but he had no clue how to go about it just like the other ones he had unlocked already. He also decided to get belivir inside his shadow as he would attract too much attention to himself which he didn't want to happen. He wanted to stay as much out of the spotlight as possible since that would make more people go after him and potentially try to kill him.

After Jack told Bellivir to go inside his shadow Bellivir melded with the ground and merged with his shadow.

Jack thought 'I wonder if i can put him in other people's shadows'

Jack decided he would try it next time he saw a person or the monster even. Jack figured if he could get Bellivir to go into the monster's shadow he may be able to get him to sneak attack the monster while he himself was in face to face combat with the monster.

After Jack was done contemplating things he headed to where he thought the safe room was since it did not specify where the safe room was. He also realized that he was slowly running out of time and only had roughly an hour left so he had to rush a little.

As Jack was making his way to the safe room Sam was sitting in a comfy chair watching Jack and had his eyebrows raised since he had never seen anything like what Jack had just done. Luckily no one else was in the room as it was late at night because if they saw what Jack had just summoned then they would be baffled as well and they would attempt to recruit Jack.

Sam belived that Jack had the greatest potential he had ever seen and that was something because he had seen the only other gold mark that went into Paradise. He was shaking thinking about the things Jack would accomplish in the future.

Jack was currently sitting inside of the safe room trying to ignore the little girl pestering him over and over.

Jack" Would you please leave me alone?"

Odelette " No, you should join my group."

Jack" I don't want to. I like to work alone anyway."

Odelette " But why? I think if we work together we won't have to lose anymore people like we did on the first floor."

Jack" Because I don't care about them. If they die it is their own fault I can't sacrifice my own life for others."

Odelette hmphed and went to pout in a corner.

Jack thought 'Cute'

After that Jack rested and decided to eat some food while he waited for the timer to finish counting down.
