15 Chapter Fifteen

I turned my attention back to Gabriel and took calming breaths to tame the fear that I was feeling but no matter how many I took, it still lingered like shadows in a deep dark void. "What did he ever do to you that wanted revenge?" I asked, keeping his attention to me. Gabriel scoffed and tightened his grip on me. My tone held fear but like any normal person, I wasn't. Not anymore.

"He hasn't told you the story bout Him and I?" Gabriel's tone sounded surprised and I arched and eyebrow in confusion. "Looks like I get to tell you my story first." He seemed thrilled by the idea but then I used my peripherals to only to notice that Marcus was right behind Gabriel. A smirk curled his lips and a fang peered out, gleaming beneath what moonlight seeped through the tree line.

"Doubt you would get a chance." I mumbled before my own fangs came out and I bit him harder than thought I could. I heard Gabriel grunt as I spun out of his grip. but before Gabriel could react Marcus put him into a choke hold and broke his neck. I nearly screamed before Marcus said, "He's fine. The only thing that can fully kill us is either sunlight or a stake to the heart or beheaded."

A sense of relief sort of washed over me and I let out a sigh. "Oh." Was the only thing that came rolling out of my mouth. "I think I knew that?" It was more of a question rather than a statement. and I felt slightly awkward.

Marcus chuckled lightly and and came over to my side. "You shouldn't of run off like that. It's too dangerous for you to really be out here by yourself."

I could only nod and whisper. "Let's go back before anything else happens tonight." The regret I felt was still fresh in my brain and I only wondered if I had somehow disappointed him in some way but at this moment I didn't bother to ask. Marcus on the other hand, could only nod in response. He gently took my hand in his and brushed a light kiss on my knuckles and I felt myself blush. I am not upset with you. I heard his voice, light as fingers on as they brushed the walls of my mind. Gabriel is Second to the the leader that banished us and with his kind of power he is nobody to mess with.

I bit my lip and scratched my nose with my other hand. "I shouldn't of been so careless." I mumbled, feeling upset because I let him down. Another sound emanated in the distance and with it a howl. A sign that the Remis pack was close. "What was that?" I asked. My ears going in the direction of the howling.

Marcus' eyes started to glow and with it his aura. He was annoyed. "Werewolves." He replied, his tone also indicated that he was annoyed. "The Remis Pack who was assigned to keep us outcasts in line." He put his hand on the small of my back and to push me in the direction of the cabin. "I will deal with them and you head back." I opened my mouth to say something but Marcus only shook his head. "You aren't ready to meet them and lately you've been lucky enough to out with some of their Rogues."

"The things that attacked us?" I asked, eying him with concern.

"Yes," Marcus said. "Now please go."

"Okay." I said and used my super human speed to get back to the cabin safely.

I walked through the cabin door and was greeted by Nora and Blake who was sitting in front of the fireplace. They both got to their feet as as they heard the door open. "What happened out there?" Blake asked. "You ran out there in a huff."

"That doesn't matter right now." I responded. "One of the leaders guards came around while I was in the woods. He attacked me."

"Who was he?" Nora asked. She gave me a look of concern as if she knew what I was about to say but needed to know anyway.

"He told me his name was Gabriel." I replied. "Why, what's the matter?"

"I knew it." Nora mumbled as she turned toward the fireplace and placed a hand on her forehead. "Gabriel is the one that sired me years ago not Blake."

"What?" My tone raised in question at what Nora had said. "What does that mean?"

"It's difficult to explain," Blake piped in. he took a breath and continued anyway. "When you sire someone that has given their consent, they are bound by that vampire."

"In my case," Nora added. "I didn't have a choice." She lowered her head and stared blandly into the fire. "Gabriel found me that night," she continued. "Hurt and vulnerable. So my choices were limited." I stayed silent as she spoke. "I fled afterwards once Sarenes' bodyguards' and Gabriel reported back to her of what I had happened. Blamed the entire situation on Blake and Marcus."

"Then you fell in love with Blake?" I asked. My tone quiet but the question still soft.

"Yes," Nora replied. "Blake helped me settle into my life and trained me to tame soft of our primal instincts as a vampire and over time my own sire bond with Gabriel dwindled some and I only loved Blake even though he can be a little hard headed at times." At the she gave Blake a teasing but loving grin. "But every sire bond is different."

"How different?" I asked. My own curiosity peaked at that.

"Depends on the person." Her response was vague and for that it meant that needed to figure it out and do some research.

"Alright," Marcus said from behind me. "I checked the perimeter of the area and around the woods to make certain that nobody else was around including Gabriel." He came over to me and brushed his thumb lightly over my cheek, sending shivers down my spine "Are you ok?"

"Still alive," I joked. Even though my voice was a little off. "I'm fine." I reassured after. "How long till sun up?" My fangs poking at my bottom lip.

"A couple of hours." Marcus and Blake answered together which made me grin a little. "We should go hunt before something else happens." Marcus was the one to say. "We don't need to be weak in a time like this."

"I agree." Nora and I said together. We both chuckled and ran out the door with Marcus and Blake right behind us.
