"I'll name you... Nova" I said. After naming my new familiar, a maid enters with a box full of worms. I wonder how they got it so fast? When the maid saw Nova a look of understanding appeared on her face. I guess she was wondering what I wanted the worms for. Nova doesn't look like much of a Phoenix at the moment, so I doubt anyone will know what she is for the time being. Also I don't know if a Phoenix from this world would even be comparable to the Harry Potter world. After the maid left I fed Nova until her hunger was sated. She seemed to like the worms, and after eating she went straight to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, my mother was there gazing at Nova as she fed her seeds.
"I see you've met Nova." I said, as I sat up from my bed.
"Yes, she's precious. Where did you find her?" She asks.
"In the garden. When you went to a meeting a couple weeks ago, I found her all alone. I waited for a while but no birds came, and she wasn't even in a nest. I've been keeping her warm and safe under my bed. She hatched last night." I explained.
"I'm glad you found a little companion. I'll order Nova here some essentials if she's going to be staying."
"Yeah, she'll be staying. Can you get her a perch to stand on?" I asked.
"Sure, sweetheart. Go and get ready for breakfast. I'll keep an eye on Nova for you." She offered.
"Alright, Ill be back in a minute." I say, as I leave to get ready for the day.
POV Astrid
Hmm, what type of bird is Nova and why do I sense Fire magic from her. I've never seen this breed before. It's almost like a Phoenix, but it's far to small to be one. As if such a rare core beast like a Phoenix would appear here. It must be a new species.
"My son must have some good luck to have found you, Nova."
*cheep cheep*
POV Syrin
After getting Nova settled in, my life went back to the same schedule. Another month passed and I'm level 9 in both Magic and Battle energy Manipulation. I've only got a couple weeks before my sixth birthday, so I'm really cutting it close. During this time Nova grew pretty quickly. She's already fully grown (A/N: Look up Harry Potter Phoenix, but Nova is mostly red with a small amount of yellow and orange). I spent some of my time in the library looking up the phoenixes of this world. It seems phoenixes in this world look similar to swans, and are about the size of a small house. Which is good because no one will know that Nova is a Phoenix and try to steal her from me.
Speaking of the animals of this world. Their are normal animals and insects like you would find on earth. Then their are core beasts. Core beasts are for lack of a better word magical animal/insects. They're pretty much animals that were born with magic or battle energy. They're called core beasts because a crystal of energy forms in they're bodies. This crystal is obviously called a core, and can be used for many things if harvested. Some core beasts are a bit special like dragons, wyverns, phoenixes, griffins, unicorns, etc. Beasts like that are always born with magic or battle energy. Even a Core beast can be born with dual affinities (Magic and Battle energy). It's about as rare as a human being born with it, but it can still happen. The official Adventurers guild core beast ranking is.

Bronze ★ is as strong as four Mage/Fighter Novice, and Bronze ★ ★ is as strong as four Mage/Fighter Apprentice and so on. You can tell the rank of the core beasts by the slight color they radiate. The colors match the names of the ranks except legend which is red. �� is a dim glow and ★ ★ is more pronounced. Same with the human ranks the higher the rank the longer the lifespan.
Core beasts also start to gain human level intelligence and speech at the black rank. Core beasts are a lot stronger than humans, which is why the adventurers guild was founded. Not many core beasts work in groups, so adventurers use that weakness against them by forming groups to hunt core beasts. Of course their are exceptions to every rule. It's possible for a single human to kill a core beast, but he/she would have to have a rare attribute like space, time, etc.
The last duel affinity core beast to be born caused a lot of mayhem. So much that the adventurers guild has named them calamity beasts. If one is ever found to be born the adventurers guild will issue a mission for its immediate death. They do this because core beasts can't be reasoned with until the black rank, and even then their intelligence isn't that high until the legend rank. A common rumor is that the oldest living dragon has dual affinity. Dragons are the type of core beasts that 99% of adventurers avoid. Only groups of SS and SSS ranked adventurers stand a chance against them.
Two weeks later and it's finally time for my sixth birthday. Seeing as I'm a prince everything will be held during my birthday banquet. Which is annoying because every noble is going to show up. Including the sour side of my family. Hopefully my dear brother doesn't cause any trouble, but I highly doubt that. My day leading up to the banquet was spent in anticipation. When the banquet started and everyone is mingling, my father went on stage to make a speech.
"I would like to thank you all for coming to celebrate my son, Prince Syrins sixth name day. We will start the awakening ceremony in a moment." The king said, and everyone bowed to him as a show of respect. As they bowed I noticed one man that barely bowed. I would call it more of a nod than a bow, which seems a little disrespectful. This is the grandfather of the crowned prince, Charles Freemont. He's a duke and the third most politically powerful person in the kingdom, only behind the King and Queen. I've barely had any interactions with him, but from what I've heard he was very upset when the king married my mother. Astrid wasn't nobility when she married the king, and nobility marrying commoners is unheard of.
When everyone went back to mingling, I waited by my mother as nobles walked up and wished me a happy name day. There are also a pile of presents stacked in the corner of the room. Hopefully they didn't get me a bunch of toys. The old Syrin would have loved some toys, but the new me is more mature. I'm hoping for some cool weapons, books, and magical items, but I doubt they would get that for a child. After all the greetings I still haven't seen the Queen and the Crowned prince. I guess they're trying to show up late as a sign of disrespect or they aren't coming. As I'm thinking this, the doors to the ballroom swing open.
"Introducing her majesty the Queen Liviana Fortis and his highness the Crowned Prince Alexander Fortis." A man by the door announces them as they stroll into the banquet. They both have white hair and blue eyes. Livian is actually very beautiful, but it's to bad she's such a bitch. My half brother has an angular face and beady eyes. They both have scowls on their faces that could put Snape to shame.
"Now that everyone has arrived we'll start the awakening ceremony!" My father announced, as the servants brought out a golden podium with two large white crystal on top of it. I'm escorted to the podium and place my hands on each crystal.
