Gimme dem stone pls. I just moved in to my apartment. Yesterday was hell. I had to move so much crap. I'm just glad that I didn't get an upstairs apartment. It would've been so much worse if I had to carry things up stairs. Enjoy the chapter!)

As the cavalry led the chasing beast herd into the mountain pass, I sat back on my horse and watched the show. When the snake formation cavalry got close to the thin pass, they slowed down slightly in order to get through without any accidents. The beasts took this as their chance to attack and picked up speed. As the cavalries rode through the pass, the herd of beasts gets closer and closer. When the herd got in a certain distance, the foot soldiers on the mountainside began firing upon them. This slows the beasts slightly, and gains the cavalry more time to get into the safety of the pass.

Even though the beasts in the front are being slaughtered, the herd moves forward non the less. Time seems to slow as the remaining cavalry enters the entrance of the mountain pass little by little. The beasts just barely missed them, and now have to fit through the small entrance of the mountain pass. The problem is that the beasts haven't been moving in a snake-like formation as the cavalry did. No, their formation was a huge mass with no real thought into it. They are beasts after all. When the herd tried to filter through the thin entrance, they kept bumping into each other and clogging the entrance.

The foot soldiers haven't stopped their rain of magic and arrows on the herd for a single second. Due to so many beasts dying at the front, the entrance was also being blocked by the dead bodies. Not one of them has made it far passed the entrance. The entrance of the mountain pass acted as a funnel to reduce the number of beasts that the army dealt with at a single time. This continues for a while until a howl is heard in the distance. The beasts all look back and see a giant black wolf with lightning dancing on its fur.

'Souei, is that the ruler of the herd?'

'No, that is one of the high ranked beasts under the leader. It's a one-star black ranked lightning wolf.'

As Souei explains this to me a pack of a thousand wolves forms up behind the giant lightning wolf. This is bad. A wolf of that rank could definitely cause us a lot of trouble. Before the wolves could join the battle though, the elders of our kingdom walked in the wolf packs way. With their path blocked the wolves growled and snapped their fangs towards the elders. The leader of the wolves stood back and watched as his minions prepared to attack the disrespectful humans.

When the beasts at the mountain pass saw the reinforcements, they all doubled their efforts to enter that pass and tear these oversized hairless rats apart. By this time the cavalry is already halfway through the pass and is still riding to the exit on the other side. Due to the extra effort the beast exude, they start to slowly but surely make their way into the pass. A horn was sounded by the foot soldiers to warn the cavalry of this development. The foot soldiers ignore the ones that broke through and continued firing upon the bottleneck. The sides of the pass are far to steep for them to worry about anything getting up to them.

POV Cavalry

When the cavalry heard the horn, they knew they had to pick up speed, but traveling through the pass so quickly and in such a large group could cause accidents, so they continued their original pace. Each cavalry member could hear the howls and growls of the core beasts catching up to them as they ride forward. The snapping of teeth and padding of hooves and paws echo through the pass, as the beasts grow closer and closer. They all wore frightened expressions, as they peeked over their shoulders waiting for the beasts to appear.

POV Syrin

When the wolf pack attacked, the elders were ready. They formed similar formations they used during the civil war. Fighters at the front protecting the mages at the back. As the first wolf snapped forward, it was met with the spear of an elder. The wolf was turned into a kebab and hung dead on the elder's spear. The spear must have pierced its heart killing it instantly. The elder shook the dead wolf off of his spear and kicked the body in front of the advancing pack. The sight of their dead comrade infuriated the wolf pack. They all howled in grief and anger for their fallen friend and looked at the humans with rage and hatred.

Sitting back and watching from afar I felt a little bad for the wolves. They seem to feel sadness for the death of their pack mates, but this is war. Even if it's a war against beasts, it's still a war that needs to be fought to protect our kingdom. Didn't Australia fight a war against emus back on earth? I feel like I remember hearing that from somewhere. They lost to the emus as well. Hopefully, we don't turn out like Australia. Although the beasts of this world are on a whole other level compared to earth, so it wouldn't be as embarrassing if we lost.

After the death of their comrade, the wolves surrounded the elders. They circled and circled until a howl was heard from the leader and they all pounced forward. The fighters made a circle around the mages in the middle to protect them. Wind mages flew into the sky and started shooting spears of wind at the wolves from above. The fighters blocked and fought the wolves upfront, and the mages fire magic of various attributes at the pack from their safe spot behind the fighters.

Back at the mountain pass, more beasts were pushing through the entrance. Although, the foot soldiers are doing their best to limit the amount that gets through as much as they can. They were told to keep firing upon the bottleneck no matter what. If the foot soldiers were to stop firing at the bottleneck and focus on the beasts that got in, then the beasts at the bottleneck would enter with no resistance. It's better to ignore the stragglers and let the cavalry deal with them the best they can.

POV Cavalry

The beasts are getting closer and closer, and finally, the soldiers at the very back spotted a beast closing in. It was a big black panther with giant fangs. The general planned ahead for this and had the cavalry enter the pass in a certain order. The fighter cavalry in the front, and the mage cavalry at the back. As the panther grew closer to the back end of the cavalry, the mages fired arrows of various attributes at it killing the panther almost instantly. When the beast cried out it's dying roar, the other beasts behind it growled and picked up speed. The other beasts could smell the blood of their comrade and moved faster to avenge the panther's death. A few moments later, the cavalry sees a flood of beasts forming behind them. At that moment every single cavalry member thought the exact same thing.

'Oh, f*ck'
