36 The Phone Call

Life was going well. I was slowly getting better from the whole Incident of Kenji and I. After seeing that picture of him and Gigi a few weeks ago and knowing that he's happy I was happy as well. Life was great! I was focused and on top of my assignments. However, out of the blue, one evening around 10PM I received a phone call from a number that looked familiar...

"Why does this look so familiar?" I asked...

I looked at it again while my phone ranged and it finally clicked.

It was Kenji's Number...

"Why would he be calling me now?" At this hour?.....

Hesitated, I decided to answer...

Hello? I said

K:......

Me: Hello?

K:..... Oriana?

Me... *I paused... he didnt sound like Kenji..

K: Oriana? It's Kenji. Did you forget me already?

Me:....Noo I remember... Hi. *he still sounded weird

K:.....So, hows it going?

Me: good. I'm just finishing up some stuff before bed.

K: That's good. focus as always I see.

Me: Yep.... how about you?

K:.....

I heard him gulp, swallowing something.

Me: Hello? Are you ok?

K: No....*his voice cracks

Me: are you drinking?

K: yes.... *his voice cracks again

Me:.... why? I thought u said u didnt drink?

K:..... *sniff sniff.. Ori.....

Me:.. yeah? what's up?

K: Gigi left me...

Me: *shocked...

K: I'm sorry i left you for her! I'm sorry I slept with her. I'm sorry for letting you down and lying to you that I would wait but I didnt. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Im sorry.

Me: Dont be sorry to me. You made your choice. There's still lots of girls out there.

K: Yeah, but probably none like you...

Is he saying he wants me back? I wondered...

Me:...*changing the subject. Why did she leave you?

K: cause, she found someone better, who could love her better than me. *cries

Me:.....Oh...

K:..... I'm drinking right now in a parking lot crying and I miss you. You're the first person that came to my mind, so I wanted to talk to you. I miss you... we are still friends arent we?

*I was silent, not fully understanding how i felt about him after all he's done and confused at him telling me he misses me and such...*

Me: Dont drink too much... & honestly, I cant do much for you or say much to you right now... why not call Scotty?

K: because I miss you...

Me:...

K:... so you miss me??...

Me:....... I....

There were some noise in the background, like some guys approaching Kenji.

Guy 1: Kenji, grow some balls. Get over that bitch. What the fuck are u doing here?

Guy 2: Dude, he's fucken out of it. just help me move him over so I can get him home.

*Some other noise continued on & soon it was quiet and I heard a beep.

They hung up on me.
