44 Volume 2: GRAY

The sun rose in the sky as soon as the airplane landed. The flight attendants assist the passengers carefully.

And as soon as he stepped down on the building where your family usually welcomed you, he checked his wristwatch. It was almost 30 minutes, so his butler must be here by now.

He only brought a big luggage and a small backpack. It's not his nature to carry many things since he only came here for a short vacation.

From the distance, a black car stopped in front of the airport. The place was getting crowded, and he had no time to deal with them because he's also busy. A man with gray hair wearing a black suit immediately dashed towards him.

"Welcome back, Young Master," he greeted.

The young man didn't reply. He remained at his pace, and as soon as he stepped out of the building, the sunlight blinded him for a minute.

His light brown hair shone under the illuminating sun. The black coat he was wearing fluttered its hem when a cold wind passed by. He raised his hands to block his gray eyes, blinking with his long lashes.

Even though he stayed abroad with such a cold season, his light tanned skin remained, giving him a more masculine look.

The young man entered the car and asked his driver to drive him home quickly. He was tired, and he wanted to sleep so badly. Even though his father told him to enjoy the time, he couldn't because the company abroad needed him.

Just thinking about his position as the young CEO made him shake his head. He thought that it was impossible in the past. He didn't know that all of this would lead him to success.

However, despite all of that, his heart still feels empty.

Just like when he was a child, nothing had changed in their mansion. It was still wide as ever, with a little bit of renovation here and there. For sure, his mom will hug him very tightly the moment he reaches the door.

The car door opened. "Young Master, we are here.." the butler said, bowing his head.

The trees and bushes in the pathway gave him a green vibe. The birds chirping above sang for him as if they missed him too.

He walked straight with the butler carrying all of his luggage, and the moment he opened the door, he saw the maids and butlers in line.

They all gave way and bowed their heads. "Welcome back, Young Master!" They all greeted.

His expression didn't change at all. He didn't even give them a glance or a nod. He's too sleepy for that.

"Cold as ever.."

A familiar voice coming from a woman in her 40s tickled his ears. She's heading down the stairs with her simple white dress. Her ash brown hair was tied up in a bun, showing the little wrinkles on her forehead.

"Welcome back, Sean," His mother said with a sweet smile.

Sean halted. "I'm not staying here for a long time. Don't welcome me as if I'm going to live here forever," He walked past the woman and whispered. "You're not even my real mom,"

The butler sighed with the woman and bowed his head before following his Young Master upstairs.

Sean was not the type to show off to people. He's very expressive in showing his emotions. If he doesn't like you, he will tell you immediately to get away from his sight.

It's not that he's hard inside. It was his way of protecting his heart; he guess.

His bedroom was already cleaned and arranged. It was his room when he was a high schooler. Even though he spent time abroad, his old things were still there.

As soon as the butler closed the door, he removed his coat and slumped on the bed. The drawers near his bed caught his attention. The last one on the bottom had so much content.

His new mom told him that she didn't lay a hand on his things.

Sean unconsciously kneeled down, pulling the last drawers. It was full of different things, but some were stationery. Small envelopes, papers and pencils.

Under those things was a picture frame. A medium size like notebook. It was so long since he saw these things and they still look very familiar to him.

Somehow, he still felt that these were all connected to him, and even though he tried different medications back then, he will never redo the past anymore.

Sean picked up the frame. A languid smile stretched across his face as soon as he saw the person in that photo.

Her black hair and cheerful eyes still look at him with adoration. She was very happy in that photo they took on her birthday. Sean remembered the way he surprised her that it almost made her cry.

'Welcome back, Sean'

He flinched when he heard a familiar voice in his mind. Looking at that photo, he replied back. "I'm going to visit you soon, Anna."

He put the frame back and closed the drawers.

After that, he laid down on the bed with his eyes up to the ceiling. The silence occupied his atmosphere, and it made him more relaxed. The empty space of his room grew bigger.

He didn't have this big room abroad. It's because he wanted one that would only fit for him to move around. He spent most of his days in the office, anyway. Typing and stressing on his laptop while helping his dad.

Sean rolled to the side and grabbed the pillow. He hugged it as soon as he felt his eyes getting sleepy. However, those eyes were lying to him.

His chest tightens as if it's choking him. He shouldn't have checked the things inside that drawer. He shouldn't have looked at her picture.

Sean's eyes became blurry. With the regrets piling up inside him, he felt those tears welled up. It rolled down on his cheeks, caressing him with sadness.

"I miss you so much," he whispered.
