62 What a Bizarre Day!

20XX, April 18, Monday, 11:25 PM; Konner House, My Room

I don't get what was Rick's problem this time. I just remembered that it was the same as last year, around this season. when he also went to visit me at the house.

This morning, I woke up later than usual so I was rushing to get ready to go to work. When I backed the car out of the driveway, another car sounded its horn behind it and Rick came out of the driver's seat. I watched him in the side mirror as he walked slowly to my window.

I lowered the window a little and frowned at him. To my annoyance, he gestured for me to lower the window all the way, like I had all the time in the world to have a chat with him.

When he put his hand on the car's roof while the other was on my window as he leaned slightly to match the height of aunt's family car, he smiled at me before speaking. Suddenly, I realized that it was the first time I have seen him after that night, or rather, after the morning of the next day.

Because of that thought, I almost didn't hear what he said. He was still smiling, his blue eyes showing amusement, as he waited for me to reply.

Anyway, he just asked how am I doing now. What should I answer to that? That I was stressed because I have the dead body of my uncle in our basement? That I resorted to killing his friends because of what they did? That I was so mad that time that I wanted to hurt him too?

I didn't say any of that. I just took a deep breath to calm myself and didn't answer for a long time. His smile deepened when he saw my reaction, but I told him that I had to go to work and if he wanted to chat, maybe he would like to ask me on a date after work.

I was being sarcastic, but he actually asked for my number, and where and at what time should we meet. The experience was bizzare!

After we exchanged numbers and he finally removed his car that was blocking mine, I drove off to work with my mind still not grasping the whole scenario. Was he the same as Chase, suspicious of me? Or was he just a crazy bastard, not concerned with what they did to me, so interacting with me now was normal?

Fortunately, I didn't get into any accidents while driving with my mind elsewhere. Unfortunately, I was a little late coming to work.

Anyway, since I had no idea of what he was thinking, I thought of saying I was busy tonight for us to meet up. Good thing our department head invited us to eat and drink out again after work so I really went home late.

I even thought he would be waiting at the house when I got home. It was a relief that there was no other car or person in front of the house. Last year, according to Mrs. Cruz, Rick even waited during the night so I was afraid he would do that this year too, especially after he messaged me that he could wait and we could just eat our dinner inside the house.

Of course I declined! As if I would let him inside just like that! I still have my uncle in the basement! And I wouldn't let someone I don't trust inside the house with just me and uncle's body here.

But to my further annoyance, Rick kept messaging me through out the day until now. He was persisting that we should meet up, asking me when I'm free. He also said he really missed me. What a douche!

Even when I already told him that I will be going to bed earlier, I could still hear my phone notifying me of my messages while I'm writing this. And I couldn't leave it on silent mode since I use my phone as my alarm. This is really frustrating!

I think I'll have another sleepless night tonight. I just hope he wouldn't make me late tomorrow morning again.
