19 Our House Burned Down

20XX April XX; Hospital

Hello! It was just a few hours ago since I last wrote but I have nothing to do now while waiting for Eli so I'll write the events of last night here.

It's two am now and we were at the hospital because our house burned down and they were checking if we inhaled a lot of smoke or if we had other injuries. My tests were done and I'm just waiting for Eli.

So, last night, Eli and I were still finishing his school project. I found a glue gun I think I used on my project way way before, that I don't remember. I found it at dad's office but we were doing the project in our room, Eli was staying in my room now since he started going to school.

Dad might get mad if we used the glue gun without his permission so I left it there then we'll just go to his office again if we have to use it. By the way, dad was still at the event with Chelsea since he was not home yet.

I don't know what really happened but we fell asleep while doing the project. But some time last night, I heard dad come back home. He didn't check up on us. Maybe he was drunk again and went straight to his room to sleep.

Then, I woke up again with Eli shaking me. I don't know why the lights in my room were off but there was a red light coming from somewhere, then I smelled something burning. Eli was crying so I got up. But when we tried to get out of the room, we saw that there was a fire outside our bedroom.

I decided to get out of the house by using the window. Good thing I was writing this before I went to sleep so I got this and a blanket so Eli won't get cold and we got out of the house.

Not many people were outside but a few neighbors were carrying buckets of water to help put out the fire. The fire was big and most were coming from the side of dad's office and bedroom. I don't see dad but a few fire trucks and police cars were already coming.

The neighbors saw us and made us sit in the porch of some house far from ours. They said we should wait for an ambulance so they could check if we were ok.

Before we were sent here, I heard the neighbors gossiping that they never found dad outside the house. Maybe he didn't manage to get out. If so, at least dad and mom were together now. My current problem is what will happen to me and Eli in case that was true. There's also school today but I'm sure they will allow us to skip.
