57 My Baby Brother Was Too Cute

20XX, September 9, Monday; Back of the classroom, XXX University

My heart was still beating frantically right now. I wish I could write this while I was in the privacy of my room but I had to do this now to calm my beating heart.

It is still sad to say that my Monday started as usual at 9am, with Eli already gone since his high school classes starts earlier. However, it went downhill once I got to school since I saw Eli and a few uniformed high schoolers talking to Chase in front of the Sports department building.

I was still slightly far from the building entrace but I could recognize my younger brother once I've caught him in my periphery. He was easy to recognize since we look alike, especially with his head of wavy brown hair, though his was cut short while mine was almost always tied up, rising on top of his peers. He was now taller than me.

Further, as I've mentioned before, that department was near our building, and so I was really shocked when I was about to go to class in the Humanities building. Nobody gave attention to me as I stood still, staring at the unusual group, blinking my eyes frequently to dispel this illusion.

When the scene wasn't changing, I took a deep breath and walked briskly in a different direction than my class. Then, I realized I would look weird, panting when I reached them so I slowed down my pace but my heart was still beating erratically.

What was Eli doing here? Looking for me? What kind of 'coincidence' was it that he met Chase when Chase wasn't in the Sports department AND doesn't even study here?!

To my further surprise, the group was about to enter the Sports department building before I reached them, so I had to quicken my pace anyway and call out to Eli. I don't care if I embarrass him in front of his friends.

Of course they all turned to me with how loud I had to shout to stop them. The group waited for me to reach them but I was only staring at Eli as he glared back at me.

"Hey, Eli, I didn't know you will come here?" Yeah, yeah, I had to end it with a question. I haven't thought of the reason he and his friends were here yet.

"Yes, we're doing a campus visit." After saying that,Eli already turned his attention away from me to the ongoing noises we could hear from inside the open door of the building.

I was surprised by his answer. Really, why not ask me as their guide if he knew they would visit my university?

Before I could form a coherent thought and reply to my brother, I heard another voice talking to me. "Hey, Sean, you know these guys?"

I kind of forgot about him. Despite my mixed emotions that time, I still tried to be polite to Chase and answer, "Eli is my brother."

Chase smiled at me when I faced him to answer, but I didn't smile back. "I see. That was why I thought he looked familiar. Were they here because you've mentioned Brad to your brother?"

I didn't answer that question, however, since I had my teeth gritted. I tried not to glare at him though or I would look really suspicious.

But then, I realized, should I act angry to see how Chase would react in case he knew what his bastard friends did to me? Besides, I would look even more suspicious if I avoided him because he might get suspicious of me killing his friends. If he asked why I was avoiding him, I could check his reaction if I reveal to him what they did to me.

These thoughts circled in my mind for less than a minute. By then, I'm sure the others were confused with me glaring at this guy, but he was acting clueless as he faced me.

Then, my baby brother came to the rescue! Well, he just added to the glaring and asked Chase what he did to me. Of course Chase still acted confused, or perhaps he really had no idea, and when Eli turned back to me, I just replied that it was nothing.

But I could see he was suspicious because of my recent activities. He already had an idea about me breaking up with my boyfriend so I guess he was concerned about this other guy now. My baby brother was too cute.

Anyway, back to that scene at the Sports building entrance, a few students were going to enter the building too so I either leave them or be their guide. Unfortunately, I noticed I was already late for my class. If I'm serious about my plan to help Eli with his choice to continue playing soccer in college, I had to get serious with my studies too.

Even though I was hesitant to leave Eli with Chase, at least it was only for a while since their group would mostly be interacting with the professors and students, not Chase who wasn't even a student of the university.

Now, I'm thinking if I should stop with my previous plans, and focus on Eli and my studies. Rick hasn't returned from abroad yet anyway.

I'll have to talk to Eli later after my classes. Hopefully, I can catch him alone during my break. If not, we'll talk at the house since aunt was not there to argue with us tonight.
