1 Prologue:

'Crack!'

Shards of mirror fell apart on the cold floor into tiny pieces. Then, blood followed. Drip by drip it fell atop the broken pieces of the mirror as a woman stood before it.

Tears soon followed, filled with unrelenting sorrow as she bites her lower lip. Her bloodshot eyes staring right through her reflection as if it was her only nemesis even though she knew she shouldn't blame herself for what happened.

How could she not?

Today was supposed to be her wedding day but it was also the day she finally found out their biggest betrayal.

The betrayal of her soon to be husband and cousin.

For weeks she's had her suspicions. That her fiancé had someone else other than her. However, never in her dreams did she thought that her cousin would go behind her back and betray her.

She should have seen it, notice it. When she invited him for a date or a simple dinner, he would use his work as an excuse when it truth, he was working his way through her cousin, Li Ziyi.

Li Xiaoyue knew that everyone was against their relationship. Telling her that Zhang Haoran was too blind and picked the biggest and fattest fish in the sea.

Well, they were correct. Looking at her reflection, Li Xiaoyue felt even angrier at herself.

In this kind of society and environment where people judge anyone with their appearance, Li Xiaoyue naturally didn't escape from it and became a subject of everyone's ridicule.

And now that everything's out for her to see, it was too late. Too late. Now that the truth about Li Ziyi's pregnancy was out.

"Xiaoyue!" She heard her uncle coming after her as she strode out of the room.

Li Minfeng stood with his three-piece suit on. The necktie was messily pulled out of its knot. His hair was everywhere and eyes full of venom.

"How could you just leave like that? The wedding hall's in a mess because of you walking out as soon as you saw Zhang Haoran. Go back and fix this mess!"

Upon hearing the name of the man she was about to be married, Li Xiaoyue felt her heart being stabbed by thousands of needles but instead of crying, she laughed.

Laughing at her current situation and laughing at her uncle's reaction. He didn't even react to the blood on her hand and the stains on her dress or the tears pooling in her eyes. He just looked at her face like he did not see a thing or he did his best to pretend he didn't.

The most important thing he and everyone wanted right at that moment was to have her stand on the isle and seal the wedding with a kiss.

She was the heir of a multinational hotel corporation but because of her appearance and without having anyone by her side. People think she should be thankful that Zhang Haoran accepted and loved her even with her flaws but in truth, he just wanted to marry her for the money and have the beautiful cousin she had.

But how could she proceed with the wedding? When all her life, she just wished someone could accept her as she is and when someone finally appeared before her, that man just so happened to betray her in the end.

Li Xiaoyue continued laughing, her eyes twinkled at the sour tears forming in her eyes.

No one cared. Even when she tried to tell him the reason why she can't accept this marriage. Her uncle would disagree with her and drag her to the wedding hall whether she likes it or not.

He would rather forsake his niece's future than losing a potential partner to his slowly growing company.

"This is not the time to laugh! Wasn't this what you wanted? Zhang Haoran's marrying you now despite having that figure." Li Minfeng harshly pulled her arm, giving her plump body a look over before raising his eyes to look at hers.

"In any case, everyone's waiting for the bride so we can proceed with the wedding."

Li Xiaoyue struggled to get his large and rough hands away from her and when she finally did, she pushed him away. She hated how people looked at her like they were appraising an item in the supermarket before leaving disappointed.

Her heartbeat hammering in her chest, screaming to be out and waiting to bleed.

Looking at him straight in the eyes, she suddenly said, "There's no need to wait. The bride's not coming."
