Chapter 66: A Happy Ending (Part 1)

Ryan, Nathan, Amanda, and Claire then split up and headed towards their cars, preparing to leave the forest for good.

Nathan and Amanda sat in the front while Ryan returned to his seat. He gently lifted Alex's head from resting on the seat rest onto his shoulder again and decided to sleep for real this time.

Nathan saw Ryan doing so but smiled and didn't say anything, as it had been a long day for them.

"I wonder if I can get any points for today's excursion?" Ryan thought inwardly before the sheep he was counting pulled him into dreamland. Suddenly, Nathan's car hit a bump causing Alex to be jolted awake.

"Sorry, sorry. The road is too dark." Nathan apologies. Alex realized she had been leaning on Ryan's shoulder as she slept.

Her face blushed red, and she checked her shoulder in case she had been drooling. She studied Ryan's face nervously and found that he was asleep too.

She breathed in relief and decided to continue resting her head there before she fell asleep again.

Author: Everything was looking well. It felt like a good ending was about to happen and that this whole picnic fiasco was about to be wrapped up, and nothing could go wrong…Sike! You think?!

God had other plans as two roughed-up men seemed to come out of the forest from the opposite direction Nathan and the officers went in.

They head towards a white van just as Claire and Nathan's vehicles leave the parking lot.

One of the men took out what seemed like the van key and started clicking it repeatedly, trying to unlock the grey van.

The tattooed bald man in his twenties became restless as the van didn't seem to respond to him.

The thuggish-looking man next to him whispered, "What are you doing? Unlock the getaway van fast before the police around here notice that we look shady as f-."

The man with the key whispered, "Keep it down, idiot. Don't worry, the GAYS LOVED to come to picnic here. Just pretend like I showed you how. "

As the young man expected, A police officer in the vicinity saw how long it was taking these folks to get into their car and started walking toward them.

The thuggish man saw this and whispered, "Shit, someone is coming."

The young man replied. "Don't worry, act natural…. Wait for no… Act gay, act gay-"

"Hi, may I help you both?" The African-American police officer asked as he stood near the car, his face full of vigilance. His hand was placed on the gun in his holster, just in case.

"Ah, nothing much, sir, just you know I think our car is jammed out." The youngster said.

The thuggish man leaned onto the tattooed man's shoulder and said in a high-pitched, loving voice. "It's all my fault. I'd dropped the key when we…Ehehehe... in the forest trail over there." He said while making theatrical hand gestures.

The tattooed man's jaw dropped!

The actions of the thuggish man were so natural that he started to wonder if the man had been living inside a closet all these years.

"What are you doing?" The police officer asked.

"Hmm...You know…' that'.." He said and kissed the tattooed man on his cheeks. His 'partner' froze for a second before he reached the thuggish man's hand and said lovingly, "It wasn't your fault. I was too eager. It was my fault…."

The police officer nodded and lowered his guard. "I see. Do you need me to lend you a hand or call the tow truck?"

The tattooed man replied, "No, officer, I think we are fine. It does that sometimes."

Police officer - "Well, you get it checked out before?"

The thuggish man said, "I know, right! I told Greg so many times, but he doesn't… listen. He never listens to anyone!"

"Oh yeah, who would pay the bill, James? Not your broke ass." The tattooed man, now identified as Greg, said with a bit of hostility as he had enough of the nagging.

James then shoved Greg toward the van accidentally.

"You! I shouldn't bring you here!" Greg said with gritted teeth as he thought that James' stupidity would blow their cover.

"Ohh. Then, what other man will you bring? That man slut from the gym?" James said, still immersed in his character.

The two started fighting, and the police officer was forced to come forward and insert himself inside the scuffle, trying to separate them.

"Stop it! Stop IT!" He said hurriedly as he pushed them to separate. "Calm down, you two. It's not good to fight with your partner. If you want, I can help with your situation. Don't fight!"

"You can?" Greg said puzzledly.

"Yes, I just have to get permission from my superiors, and someone will drop you off."

James replied while raising his palms up and getting close to the officer for a hug, "That would be a great help, officer..."

"It's Terry Crews," Terry said while hugging James with a face full of smiles.

Greg - "Thank you for the offer, officer Terry, but we don't want to be such a bother."

Terry - "No, no, really, it's nothing."

"If only this stupid thing will work…." Greg said and clicked his key again.

*Click-click* Suddenly, the van is unlocked by sheer luck. Greg and James' faces froze, while Terry was a bit startled.

Greg - "Ah, officer, it looks like my baby is back online. Thank you for the suggestion, though you're very kind."

Terry said before he turned to his police car direction, "Okay, no problem. Well, I better get back."

Jack - "Bye. BYE~"

Greg - "Bye."

Terry nodded and then headed off.

"Oh shit. That was close!" Greg said while wiping his sweat as he sat next to the driver's seat. "Also, you. Are you really…" Greg turned to James in the driver's seat. "What?" James said in a gruff voice.

"Nothing," Greg replied. He reached the backseat of the van to check their weapons. "It's all here. Drive now." Greg said.

Without even warning the car, James drove the car out of the parking lot. Terry watched them go past him, waving at them while smiling.

James and Greg nodded politely at him as they drove past the police officer.

"Hmm... They are the first gays I have met that don't compliment my body. They must truly be in love." Terry muttered as he flexed his chest, making them dance.

He thought back and found out something weird about the situation. The shoes those guys were wearing were muddy and dirty.

"But wait…Gays…CARE ABOUT THEIR SHOES!" He widened his eyes in realization. The walkie-talkie sounded at this time.

[Bzzt. There are two kidnappers in cahoots that managed to get away! I repeat, two kidnappers got away!]

Terry sounded the siren and replied to the walkie-talkie immediately. "I met them. Going on pursuit!"

[ Be careful, Terry!] Jake, on the other line, said.

*WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO*

Terry chased the van at high speed, ashamed that he was tricked. "I should've never doubted my muscles!" He muttered.

"GREG! JAMES! STOP!" Terry sounded the megaphone to stop them from running away.

"SHIT! HE'S HERE!" James said anxiously as he looked at the back mirror.

"I'll deal with him," Greg said and slid to the back of the van.

"GREG! JAMES! I knew you weren't gays! PULL OVER! NOW!" Terry said threateningly as he shouted to the megaphone.

Suddenly, the back of the van opened, revealing Greg with an RPG on his shoulder.

"Sorry, Terry," Greg said before he pulled the trigger. A missile shot toward the police car, chasing the van at high speed.

BOOM. The police car exploded and crashed into the nearby trees.

"…(voice break) Terry.." James said slowly with a depressed voice as he saw the car being blown into heaven's kingdom. Greg slides back to the front seat. "What did you say?"

"Nothing," James replied, hiding his tears behind the steering wheels. "What route should I follow?" James said.

"Go to this route..." Greg replied. "We'll hijack another car to escape."

-Phil Dunphy's car-

"What route Phil?" Gloria said while trying to read the signboard on the streets.

"Route 39, we will meet with Claire there," Phil said while trying hard to focus on the dark road.
