I welcomed the sting of the whip and bellowed. Each blow meant Jody was spared for now and I would do whatever I could to ensure that stayed true. The pain meant Jody was safe. And in this hellish place, this was the only assurance I had that the Roulex would leave her alone.
Blood soaked my wings and ran in rivulets down my chest. My cuts gaped open across my body. Sweat dripped down my body, making me hiss as my wounds stung from the contact. The Roulex would get tired soon enough and at least I'd saved Jody for one more day. My body would heal. The thought of one stroke of the whip marring Jody's pale flesh ripped hunks of my soul out. The torture of that was worse than anything these monsters could physically do to me.
