10 Where did She Go?

Checking the room once more, William realized that Gloria was not inside. Normally, people would hide under the bedsheet or inside the closet. However, he couldn't find Gloria inside the two place.

His eyes glanced to the bathroom that was closed. For some unknown reason, he felt that he shouldn't touch the handle to open the door.

"Gloria?" William called out once more.

He couldn't sense anyone inside the room too. It was completely empty and didn't show any trace of life.

"William, did you find her?" Yakov asked. The two people, guard and young master, were pushed inside while his gun was still pointing at them. He felt that William took too much time to find a young girl.

Looking at his friend, William pointed to the guard. "Open the bathroom."

The guard's face paled almost immediately. He shook his head rapidly as if his life depended on it.

"Open the door."

Facing with the gun pointing at his head, the guard gulped down his saliva and moved to the door. His body was still trembling and the moment he touched the handle, he could feel sudden jolt of electricity.

AAAAAAAAAa!

The guard released his hand almost immediately and crouched down on the floor. His hand felt numb from the sudden jolt of electricity. Tears began to well up on the guard's eyes, showing a weird view of a large man crying.

The young master's face contorted. "$%^&! Why are you crying, you %^&*! It's just a door!"

Yakov was staring at the handle then looked at William. "She's inside?"

"No." William was certain that Gloria was not inside the bathroom based on the stun gun that he found just now. If she used another rubber band to keep the stun gun light up, it meant that she didn't have to be present at all. She could simply leave the stun gun with its front at the handle.

That way, she could leave while leaving the trap there.

"Then?"

William kicked the door a few times until he heard the sound of something fell. Afterwards, he opened the door open by force and was greeted with the sight of an empty bathroom. There was only one stun gun on the floor while the rest of the items inside the bathroom was still in its original place.

"She disappears?" the guard looked like he had lost a part of his soul when he saw the scene.

William passed a glance at the guard and used his gun to point out, telling the guard and the young master to get out. The two of them noticed the message and rushed out of the room, staying away from the nuzzle pointing in their direction.

"Why did you let them leave?" Yakov asked. "They must have wanted to take advantage of that young girl, right?"

"Even if I kept them here, what do you think I can do?" William asked back with a scowl. He knew better than anyone what they were planning to do, but this was no longer the same world as before. There was no recording that could prove what they were doing because electricity was gone. Also, scums like them didn't worth their time at all.

"Kill them?"

"I don't want to kill ordinary civilian."

Yakov shrugged. If there was still law in this place, the two of them would surely be punished with prison punishment because of trying to harm other people actively. Besides, the young girl managed to escape one way or another, leaving it to be nothing more than intent.

"Where do you think she is?"

William scanned the large bathroom and opened the drawer. However, there was only some normal medicine inside the drawer and nothing else. There were also some towels on the chair along with the bathroom robe. No sign of living beings presents in the place at all.

He raised his head and looked at the air ventilation above the room with furrowed eyebrows. If he was not wrong, Gloria was considered to be a small young girl, so there should be no problem if she wished to enter the place.

Walking to the closet, William stood up and tried to open the door. Slowly, he climbed up and peeked into the ventilation area. The space was narrow but children would be able to move freer compared to large adults like him. His eyes noticed the fresh scratch on the side of the ventilation.

'She was here.'

The question of how she left the bathroom was answered, but it only gave them another headache. Where could she possibly go?

The ventilation would be connected to several locations, making it hard for them to find where Gloria could possibly go after entering the ventilation. There were too many possibilities.

"Did you find her?" Yakov asked.

William shook his head. "There's too many route you can possibly go from the ventilation. I have no idea where she could possibly be."

"That's awful…."

"At the very least, she knows basic method to protect herself." William picked up the stun gun and showed it to Yakov.

Seeing the way the rubber band was placed, Yakov turned his head to look at the handle. There was burning mark on the surface of the handle, telling them that it was exposed to electricity for a long period of time. It meant that the stun gun was left near the handle for a long period of time.

"The electricity can last?" Yakov asked with astonishment.

"The only conductor near the handle is itself, so it'll take some time before the electricity dissipate," William replied. He had guessed that the wound on the guard's hand must have been caused by the handle, which was why he was hesitant to open the door.

Yakov's eyes shone with interest. "That girl can be useful too."

"You only realize it now?"

"Eh? You already thought of that?"

William smiled lightly. From the moment Gloria took out the walkie talkie, he had an inkling that she might be useful in a place like this. Of course, at that time it was nothing more than a hunch.

"Now, let's find her first."

"There should be a map about the ventilation, right?"

"Where do you think we can access it?"

"Uh…."
