2 Chapter 1

Her snap fingertips scanned the fabric of the beautiful gift her lovely parents had given her, "Yvette Onela Rewfulpo" was written in big golden capital letters and a grin placed itself on her rosy lips once she recognized her father's handwriting, which was truly hideous. Yvette had always loved holidays, Christmas in particular was her very favorite, therefore she couldn't be happier to spend it with her beloved family.

"You can't open it yet, Yvette" ordered a voice from the kid's side, "You need to wait for your sister first"

The little girl sighed as she placed the gift back under the Christmas tree among a few others. Her cheerful eyes traveled around the room, looking for her favorite toy, which was a beautiful Barbie. Her light brown locks flew behind her, and she wrapped her fingers around the Barbie once she reached it. Her father stood behind Yvette and held into her hips as he lifted her small body, frightening her in the process as well.

"I got ya!" He shouted and the child chuckled

"Dad!" Her voice exclaimed as she tried her best to suppress her laugh.

Emerson finally made her appearance, yawning as she descended the stairs. Once she noticed her sister struggling from their father's grasp, she sprinted to them and jumped into his back.

"Emy!" Squealed Yvette and her sister grinned

"It's unfair now!" Groaned their father

"You wish!" The two sisters spoke in unison.

The dark haired male let them both down and playfully hit their heads. The whole family then seated opposite the tree, in order to to open each of their presents, only once their grandmother joined them.

Yvette decided to open her granny's gift first, it was a square-shaped box that carried a beautiful jewel. The necklace had a stone as pendant, it was a delicate ice blue color that went perfectly with her cobalt blue eyes.

"Thank you, granny," she smiled, "I love it"

The light brown haired wore her new necklace and waited for Emy to open her first present as well. Their grandma got Emerson a similar jewel, though, instead of blue, it was emerald green.

Then, it was time for their parents' gifts.

Yvette grabbed the box with her name written in golden and carefully opened it with a grin on her lips; a black book with a few golden scribbles and leaf on the hard cover. Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion, she was only 6 years old and she hardly even knew how to read, why would her parents give her this?

"It's a book of anagrams," smiled her mother and neared her little ear, whispering: "you'll need it someday"

Yvette nodded her head and muttered a "Thank you" to her parents.

After breakfast, they were all supposed to meet with Thea's brothers and their respective families; it didn't go as planned, however.

Emy, Yvette and granny sat in the backseats and happily sang to Christmas songs; Thea and Alexander sadly stared at the road as tears stained their cheeks with their hands intertwined together. A jeep appeared out of nowhere and harshly crashed into their car, Yvette screamed and, without noticing, portrayed a shield, protecting herself, Emerson and grams.

Her vision was blurred by her own tears and everything seemed to slow down, just like every sound seemed only an echo in her mind, as her blue eyes scanned what was left of her parents, her soul aching for the pain. She could feel her lips quivering while her grandmother carried her out of the wrecked car; she felt dead, as if she got turned off by the sudden action.

Her feet finally moved and dragged her towards the jeep that killed her parents, though nobody was there. How? How could something like that happen?

"Yvette, love?" Her granny's voice brought her back to reality and she hummed in response.

"Wha...what happened?" Cried Yvette, turning her body to her family members left, "..why?"

The oldest woman pulled both her granddaughters in a bone-crashing embrace and they all sobbed on one another.

An explosion sound drifted their attention back to the cars; a tall woman stood her with a shy smile playing on her thin lips. She had long straight black hair and hazel eyes, her clothing consisted of a long black dress with the letters "EL" written in red on her chest.

"You may be asking what I am doing here," she cleared her throat awkwardly, "I...ehm, I was Thea's teacher and she personally asked me to give this to you, Yvette"

The woman handed the kid a letter and the blue eyed opened it, her hands trembling.

"Dear Yvette Onela Rewfulpo,

I wish I could've told you in person but what had happened wasn't to be stopped. I knew I had to die earlier than thought because of an oracle, which also mentioned that you, Yvette, would become, like myself, a witch.

The woman who had given you this was my professor and will be yours, you can trust her.

You will have to make a few sacrifices, but everything will be alright. Your mommy and daddy love you and Emy.

Love,

Mum"

Her glance met the professor's and she gave the little girl a grin. The world fell on Yvette's shoulders and it made her stomach twist in knots, tears never stopped streaming from her eyes, as she folded the letter back. She was a witch....how could she be a witch?

"It's going to alright, Yvette" reassured the teacher

"Is it?" Murmured the fair haired

"You must understand you have potential, we need you at my school if magic-"

"Magic?!" Exclaimed Emerson, protectively standing before her little sister, "You're mental!"

"My name is Elizabeth Hallow and I will be your headmistress at Elemental"

The two sisters locked eyes for a split second, before Yvette stood directly opposite Elizabeth.

"Your mother is correct, however, about sacrifices" declared Mrs Hallow, causing the little witch to raise a brow, "They can't remember about you"

At first, Yvette wanted to scream at the professor that she was mental if she thought she would've let her erase her from her family's heads. Then, however, she realized that it was dangerous for humans, acknowledging the existence of magic. Her father was the example, she thought and her heart shattered even more.

"Will you protect them nonetheless?" She eventually questioned and Hallow nodded her head.

Emerson sobbed as her little sister wrapped her short arms around her, then she embraced her grandmother, who had her dark eyes red and puffy by the crying.

After that, Elizabeth gripped the witch's hands and teleported them away.
