CHAPTER EIGHT – THE MYSTERIOUS YOUNG MASTER, THE CLUES, AND A DRIVER

"I know Young Master and I know what I am doing. I need to cut off the communication for now and I'll give you an update if I have found something"

[Be careful and don't expose yourself that much. There are plenty of nobles there and it would be a trouble if some of them manage to get through your disguise]

After that, the communication between him and his master had been cut off.

The magic communication earrings became invisible once again as the man sighed as he changed his clothes and went over to the bed to sleep.

Ryan is thinking something else.

About his undercover mission.

Yes, Ryan Wayne is just an alias that he takes as he is on an undercover mission.

His master had given him a task to find someone.

Someone is precious and important to him that he lost.

His first clue about finding that person is in this country, Silveria Empire.

But, he didn't tell his master about the second clue that he found out as he didn't want his master to be heartbroken once again.

Even though he might be harsh on him but still, he cares for his master as he sees him as a friend and a brother.

Ryan's second clue is….Scarlette Overland.

At first, he was shocked to find this and he is not sure if he needs to include Scarlette Overland as his lead but he wants to find out himself.

When the woman picks him as her traveling companion, he had the chance to investigate and observe the woman but he needs to be careful not to be caught.

Scarlette Overland is not an SSS-rank adventurer for nothing.

She would not achieve this kind of rank with just strength alone and he believes that the woman is only hiding her true strength. 

Kira also stated that her skills are still unknown to everyone and according to that woman, she only witnesses Scarlette's ability during the subjugating missions only.

Scarlette Overland is clouded with mysteries that made everyone around her became curious.

'Scarlette Overland. What is your relationship with "that person"? Why do you have its item around your neck?'

He thought as he succumbs into the darkness as he closed his eyes and fall asleep.

"You've got to be kidding me?!"

Ryan exclaims as he jumped himself off the bed and changes his clothes immediately as he woke up late after he fixed himself.

'Damn it! Hoping that I won't be late!'

He grumbly thought as he put all of his supplies in his bag and went off the inn as he immediately runs towards the Central Plaza where Scarlette stated to meet in that place.

After some minutes had passed, Ryan made it to the Central Plaza and looked for the woman around the area but he couldn't find her as there are so many people early in the morning.

'Where is she? Does she left me behind?' Ryan thought as he slumped his shoulder down.

"You're here" 

"Gyahh!"

Ryan was startled as he looked at his back and he saw Scarlette looking at him with crossed arms around and the crimson-haired woman looked at Ryan with a bored expression.

"You're late"

Scarlette said in a dull tone.

Ryan scratched his head out of embarrassment and bows a little as he speaks; "S-sorry Lady Overland! I overslept!"

Scarlette raised an eyebrow as she heard the way that the man addressed her and she didn't waste any more time as she speaks; "Let's go. At the Capital gate. The wagon"

"What?" Ryan said as he couldn't comprehend what the woman is trying to say.

Scarlette sighed as she didn't like to talk that much but her companion wouldn't understand her so she rephrases her sentence.

"Our wagon is on the near gate. Better hurry"

Scarlette said in an annoyed tone and walked away from there as she didn't wait for Ryan to respond.

Ryan saw this and in the instant, he immediately followed the woman behind and both of them are now walking side by side with each other as they make way for their destination.

....   

"We need to cross two cities before we could get into Fordel Village and we would stop over at the first city from there, the Merken City" 

Scarlette explained as she looked through the map she is holding and when Ryan heard the woman's long speech, he immediately looked at her with amusement.

The crimson-haired woman saw this as she raised an eyebrow at him; "What?"

She asked and Ryan chuckled a little as he speaks; "You can speak normally, Lady Overland. Why didn't you speak that to me yesterday? Don't you know I'm trying to comprehend sometimes what you are trying to say?"

Ryan complained and Scarlette looked at him with a dull look.

"Tiring"

She replied and Ryan makes a dumbfounded expression as he looked at her.

'Are you serious, woman? Could you please speak normally! Argh! I feel like my mouth would dry up just becoming her companion. It seems like I would be talking to a stone in the rest of our journey'

Ryan thought as he shook off his head and focus on the road while listening to the woman from the back.

-30 MINUTES AGO-

Earlier, when the two of them reach the near gate of the Capital, Ryan saw the wagon that Scarlette is talking about.

He noticed that there is a guard standing at the wagon and it seems like he is guarding it.

When that guard looked in their direction, the guard rushed forward and went over in front of Scarlette.

"Scarlette! The wagon that you left yesterday and I guard it for you!"

The guard said and Ryan take a look at the guard and it seems that Scarlette had quite a few people that she knew around in this area.

"Sorry, Eve. Thank you. Here, take it" 

Scarlette thank the guard that she called Eve and Ryan saw that the crimson-haired woman took something in her pouch and gave it to the guard.

Even though Scarlette's words are a bit hard to understand, the guard Eve quite catch up some of her phrases and when he saw that the crimson-haired woman was about to give him, he was about to refuse but Scarlette interjects him.

"Please just accept it and take this for doing me a favor"

The crimson-haired woman insists and the guard Eve didn't have a choice but to accept it.

'This woman might be cold and indifferent sometimes but I could tell that her words are sincere. What an interesting woman'

Ryan thought as he saw the conversation between Scarlette and the guard Eve. He even saw that Scarlette gave him some gold coins. 

After that, both Scarlette and Ryan went over to the wagon and since Ryan is traveling together with Scarlette, he needs to prove himself that he can be useful.

He volunteered to the coachman and Scarlette only nodded (As usual) as both of them have settled everything and they prepared to depart from the Capital city.

-PRESENT-

After the woman told him the details of the route that they would need to take, Ryan started to speak; "Ahm…L-lady Overland…"

"Drop the 'Lady' thing, Ryan. Just Scarlette instead"

She interjects Ryan's words and the man heard this as he felt his cheeks burning in embarrassment.

Scarlette noticed the redden ears of the man as she looked into and she leaned over and thought of something. 

'I never expected to meet this man in this country. How come he is here in the first place?
