2 Chapter 1: Contract

"We still need someone to do costumes." The class rep says. I kick open the doors with hands full of test cookies.

"You still haven't figured that out yet?" I groan trying to keep the cookies from falling.

"Well no one knows how to sew..." the class rep says.

"Well then.. I'll do it!" The class cheers. "Also, I want everyone to try these test cookies!" I gave everyone a cookie.

"Wow! These are so amazing y/n!" Mika said as she hugged my arm. Mika Yozuna has been my friend for most of my middle school experience.

"Are you sure that you can handle all of this alone?" Ryu asks with a patronizing smirk on his face. Ryuusei has always picked on me since the beginning of middle school, but I think it's because he likes me. Hah yeah right.

"Y/n will be fine! And if she ever needs help she's got me!" Sakuya gloats. I roll my eyes. Sakuya watanuki has been my friend since elementary school. He also a big doofus.

"Yeah like you're helpful." I laugh. Y/n l/n. Age 15 just like Sakuya and Mika, but ryu is 16 and failed a grade.

"Aww, how meean!" Sakuya whined. Our class laughed at the class clown.

After class, Mika, ryu, Sakuya, and I walked home together. "Why are you always doing all of the work? You're going to over work yourself." Mika pouts.

"It's just a lot easier if I step up and do it." I say.

"Well you could always teach me how to sew so that I could help." Sakuya offered.

"That's sounds like more work than it's worth." I tease.

"Sooo mmeeeaann~" Sakuya pouts. We all laugh.

When I got home, I heard the tv on in the living room. "Mom? Why are you home this ea-" I stop to see a wierd looking teen eating ramen on my living room floor. "W-who the hell are you?!" I grab a mop for protection.

The teen sighs, "I can already tell that this will be troublesome."

"Why are you in my house?! Oh, are you a friend of my mom's?" I ask.

"Not really." He sighs. I walk in front of him.

"You aren't a burglar are you?!" I hold up the mop.

"So scary." He says sarcastically. "You're too loud."

"That's it! out!" I moved forward to attack but tripped. I grabbed the curtain to break my fall but ended up opening it instead. I looked up to see my cat, Ash. Wha? I closed the curtains to see the cat transform into the teen. What the f-?

"Hey. I'm not supposed to be in the sunlight so keep those closed." Ash (?) said. I backed up.

"W-what are you?" I asked, shocked.

"Nothing special really. Just your friendly shut in who just so happens to be a vampire." He said.

"Vampire?" I think back to what Sakuya said about a neighborhood slasher the other day. "W-wait! You're not here to bite me and drink all of my blood are you?!?" I back up more.

"Huh? Sounds like a lot of work. Why would I bother going through so much trouble? Do you really think that I would bite you? You must think highly of yourself."

"Huh? But isn't that just what vampires do?"

"Maybe don't jump to conclusions when you're judging people... actually I'm getting a little thirsty. Could you get me some tea?"

"I'm not a maid! How would I even start to understand you?"

"Maybe you should start by cooling down. I'll be out of here by tomorrow so just make sure not to say my name while I'm in my human form."

"Huh? But I don't even know your name. Well, unless you mean the name I gave you as a cat. Ash."

(Swear warning incoming)

A blue light exploded through the room as a circle appeared around my arm and Ash's neck. It closed as a blue line started to connect them. "You're so stupid. I could just die."

"Huh? What just happened? Oh shit! Is that the name you meant? Crap. What's happening? Please explain." I panic.

" but explaining is such a pain. " Ash whined.

"I don't care! Just give me simple answers!"

"You sure are loud and bossy aren't you? But okay. First I'll start with something obvious." He looks at me. "You need to calm down."

"Okay... I'll try." I take a deep breath. He then begins.

"Ugh, how to explain. Vampires like me only drink the blood of the master that we are contracted to. We follow our master's orders even if they are bothersome. There is a name for vampires like me, but to be honest I see no point in telling you that." He munches on chips.

"So just now... please don't tell me I accidentally formed a contract with you." I groaned.

"Sort of, but this one is temporary."

"How long does it last?"

"If I don't drink your blood in the next 24 hours then it will automatically be cancelled, so you don't have to worry about it." Ash said. I sigh in relief.

"Well then I guess I'll just be back then. I have errands to run." I walked to the door but was pulled back by a blue line extending from my wrist.

"That's not going to happen. I have to be Withen your proximity for the next 24 hours." Ash sighs, "what a pain."

"Well then I guess you're gonna have to come wake me." I grabs his hand and drag him to the door.

"I can't go out there it's still light." He whines.

"It's gonna be dark soon, so you'll be fine." When I opened the door he turned into a cat and I picked him up.

"Ugh, what a pain." Ash sighed as I walked to the town.
