1 Prologue

It was the year of 2090. Science and Economic powers were at their height. Humanity thriving in a glorious age of advancement. Flying cars, Clean energy, Environmentally friendly of course.

Due to technologies many advancements Scientists were now capable of rivalling politians in power and influence. Many viewed them as close to gods in some fields.

Thinking to make a name for himself. A scientist by the name of Johann Von Creight created a nano machine he called BL00D. BL00D was designed to combat disease on a widespread scale with unheard of effectiveness. The machines would strike any infected cells and replace them with micro machines that would act as cells.

After some tests showed positive results and good feedback. The U.N. released BL00D into a segregated tribe in Africa. What happened next was unspeakable and unforseen.

The machines worked. But too well. Instead of just replacing tissue it actually consumed the host's normal tissue till none remained. After no tissue remained the body would turn into a black nanite puddle that would then join the main group. Said group would then spread to the next populated area. Soon all of Africa was covered in a black wave of nano machines that consumed everything in their path.

Soon nothing of Africa remained. After Africa the Asian and European cities fell like dominos. It even came to the point that nukes were used to destroy the things. But instead of dying the things transformed the energy into power for themselves and surged onward. It wasn't long till all of the eastern continent was covered and billions were counted as dead or missing.

Thankfully BL00D couldn't fly or swim. Due to those weaknesses it couldn't spread any further in any direction. And the cold of Russia stopped it from functioning normally during winter months. Often times making it withdraw.

But not for long. The machines learned at an incredible speed and adapted quickly testing the waters with different applications of its own making.

It only took two years for the BL00D to overcome those weaknesses with a heating system made of its own electro magnetic pulse and constructing a watertight gel membrane.

These events happened over the course of ten years. The studies of the BL00D led us to believe it would only continue expanding to the States and surrounding countries. And so. In our last desperate effort. Humanity fled the earth to colonize mars.

We thought we had left that part of our history in the past. We were never more wrong.
