13 Chapter 13 No wonder your brother went crazy, it's all retribution

Grace Gordon clenched her cellphone and lowered her eyes as she listened, without making a sound.

"Speak up! Why aren't you saying anything? I knew it wasn't right for Lewis to marry you, a promiscuous and fake Miss Gordon! Now it turns out that I was right! You can't even keep a lid on the slightest bit of news, how are you fit to be the Yale family's Young Mistress?"

"No... that's not it..." Rina Glade's voice suddenly paused as she thought of something else, becoming even angrier. "You did it on purpose! You purposely harmed our Lewis! You never answered your phone, until the news was already everywhere! Grace Gordon, you're as poisonous as your mother! You star of disaster, how long will you continue to harm our Lewis?"

The woman's voice on the other end of the phone was very loud, as if her anger had reached a boiling point.

"Mom…" Grace replied weakly, "My cellphone was broken…I just got it fixed."

"Stop making excuses! Grace Gordon, I knew you had ill intentions… Your whole family is no good!" Rina sneered, "No wonder your brother became stupid… It's all retribution!"

The moment Grace heard Rina speaking about Ian Leighton, she became enraged, yet she still maintained her calm tone: "Mom, you can criticize me… but don't involve my brother! Besides, haven't I been cleaning up Lewis's mess for the past year? If Lewis hadn't done those things, would we be in a situation where even the news can't be suppressed? You keep saying that I'm the one who harmed Lewis, but did I force him into another woman's bed?"

For the first time in so long, Grace had talked back to Rina.

"Unbelievable! Grace Gordon, now you're in the right? You married into the Yale family, and we've provided you with everything you needed to live comfortably! You couldn't even keep an eye on your own husband, and now you're dragging the Yales down, humiliating us! Grace Gordon, what are your intentions?"

Rina's voice was so loud that it could be heard throughout the quiet corridor.

Inside the room, Gail Wright had been eavesdropping with her ear against the door, vaguely hearing Rina's extremely harsh words to Grace on the other end of the phone. Gail suddenly threw open the door and grabbed Grace's phone.

"Gail!"

Grace attempted to take the phone back, but Gail held it out of her reach and yelled at the woman on the other end.

"Mrs. Yale, do you really think you're providing Gracy with a comfortable life? When we knew her before, she was almost six feet tall and weighed nearly a hundred pounds, but now she's lost so much weight she's down to eighty! And you dare call this providing a comfortable life?"

"Who are you? Give the phone back to that shameless woman, Grace Gordon!"

"Shameless?" Gail gritted her teeth. "Mrs. Yale, don't think that others don't know about your petty affairs! The Yale family's reputation… has long been thrown into the Pacific Ocean!"

Gail hung up the phone after venting her anger, not giving Rina a chance to speak.

Rina on the other end was fuming with anger, as those events were a painful scar in her heart!

Grace looked at Gail and said, "You didn't have to provoke her like that."

Gail placed the phone back in Grace's palm. "You think I'm just going to stand here and let her vent on you?"
