Rushing forward with all my might.

Alivia's POV

I jumped.

"Alivia!!"

Luckily, the balcony had a railing or I might have had a nice fall.

I turned around to see Steve right next to me. His face had 'worry' written all over it.

"Geez, Steve." I panted, holding my hand over my heart. Trying to calm it down. "You sacred me."

"Sorry." He said, rubbing the back of his neck.

We stood there in silence for a little while. Once I calmed down I asked, "Did you need need me for something?" I was wondering if he had questions like Bruce.

"No." He sheepishly looked away then back at me. "I heard music,"

'Was I too loud!?' I panicked.

"Then JARVIS said you were up. I was wondering, if you'd like to go with me, on my morning run."

'Oh, well at least he's not mad' " Sure, I don't mind. I'm up anyway." I replied as I walked back into the room.

Steve followed, "Are you normally up this early?"

"How early is it?"

"Close to 5."

"Not really, no. Normally I'm a 7 or 8 kind of girl." I answer as I place Wolverine back on my bed and cover my friends with my blanket so they can rest some more.

"Then why are you up so early?"

I shrugged, "New place, new life. Kind of does that to me." I paused, "I guess it'd be, kind of like... how, you woke up from your crypto sleep. New environment, ...too much excitement."

Steve nodded. "Makes sense." He started walking to the door, then turned to me. " I'll wait by the elevator." He said before he continued walking.

I smiled and nodded, "Got it. I'll be out in a jiff."

He stopped by the door and turned again. Looking confused. "Jiff?"

I laughed, "I'll be out shortly, Captain."

He smiled and nodded before he left.

I quickly grabbed a tang-top, a sports bra and long thin pants. I still didn't know how chilly the mornings are here, but since I'd be running with Steve I didn't want to get over heated. And carrying a sweat shirt while running, would be an unnecessary burden I didn't want to deal with.

I get ready realitivly quickly, since I've never been one that's cared for fashion. Comfort and usefulness take top priority, rather than how I look. I put my hair up, so it wont get in my way. No need to brush since I'd have to do it when I got back anyway.

I lightly jog from the room to the elevator. "That was quick." He comments as we enter the elevator.

I shrug. "I don't like being late. Besides, " I smile looking up to him " One, you invited me." Then I smirk. "Two, how many can say they ran with, not from Steve Rogers."

He laughed lightly, "More than you know."

"Tsk." I snapped my fingers.

"Way to ruin my fun Rogers." I playfully pouted, then smiled at him to let him know I was kidding.

He shook his head, smiling back.

By the time we reached the bottom of the tower, the sun was no longer red. "It really doesn't stay red for long does it?"

"Not really." Steve replied smiling as we walked to the park.

"Maybe that's the beauty of it. A single, precious moment..." I froze, furrowing my eyebrows. I even stopped walking for a bit. Steve also stopped and turning to look at me.

I shook my head, catching up to him "...that can last a life time." I finished. 'Even in memory.' Steve might know more, or at least have more precious moments. But I had them too. Times when I was happy. Hopefully I can be happy here. I mean its amazing I'm even here. I just hope I can belong. Steve found his purpose, maybe I can find mine.

I'm guessing the walk to the park was the warm up since Rodgers started running almost as soon as we got to the park. I had forgotten he's an Enhanced human. Even with him acting like a gentleman, slowing down his pace, trying to run alongside The Captain America is a pain in the ass, let me tell you...

So after trying, for less than 5 minutes. I had to call out. "Hey! Turbo Boost!" I shout, panting. "How ...about ...this." I say as I lean over, hands on my knees.

Raising one finger, I point out, "You do your run," *pant* "I'll do mine." I point to me *pant* "We meet up near the end of your run," Standing up, I inhale deeply "Then we can hang out." Releasing it, I smile at him hoping he'll cut me a break, any kind of break at this point.

He looks me over, smiling apologetically he nodded. I release a breath I didn't even know I was holding. "Thanks." Smiling, I see Steve off. Jogging to the park he said he'd finish at.

If I recall correctly, Steve runs his course 3 times in 30 minutes, at least that what I read on the web somewhere. So all I have to do is get to that park before half an hour. Only one problem,

....I don't know where it is!!!

———Time Skip———

I don't know how long I took. All I know is I ran the entire way, while asking for directions. Plenty of stop and go, there. Only to find Steve's already there. At first I feel relived I had the right park.

Then I see he's smiling at me. Seeing how he's perfectly fine. While I'm red, sweaty, and desperately out of breath I can't help but feel that smile of his is a taunt. Plain and simple.

...And a Damn good one at that.

Since finding the right park, I can finally walk. I head over to the bench Rodgers is at. When I'm finally able to reach the goal, Steve gets up to greet me, "Alivia." only for me to flop down on the bench he was previously sitting on, panting. 'Oh, how I wish I could just melt...'

I must of had a stupid face on since Steve chuckled then shook his head. Causing me to glare at him.

" A little too much for you?" He chuckled, and continuing to smile.

I turned to him, "You calling me fat!?" Glaring.

His face dropped, "No!"

I glared at him a little longer, I'm pretty sure he was starting to sweat.

"I know," I sigh turning my head to stare back at the park, "I'm not in the best shape." I pat my tummy and smile at Steve. "I've got myself a beer gut." I say sheepishly.

He looks relived that I'm not angry anymore. All of a sudden, he looks puzzled, "Beer gut? ... You drink beer?"

I laughed. "I can, but I don't." I point out. "I just use that to say my stomach bulges out."

"Where?" He asks causing me to laugh.

Looking down I press my tang-top over my stomach revealing a bulge. I smile disapprovingly at it, "Luckily its not bigger than my boobs."

*cough* *cough*

I turn back, releasing my tang-top, staring at a red faced Steve. "You alright there Steve?"

*cough* *cough*

"Yeah."

*cough*

I start rubbing the poor guys back. If I had timed that right, I might have seen him spit-take. ...Oh well.

"Anyway, I just use them as a measurement." I swear I saw him choke again. I smiled shaking my head. I pat his back twice before I continue. "But it is safe to say I'm over weight." 'Especially hanging out with hot ripped, Avengers' I smile in dissatisfaction. "Maybe I will workout more." I sigh, leaning back. "It'll be easier this time."

"How so?" questions Steve.

I smile turning to Steve, "With you guys working out, I sure as hell don't want to be let behind."

"Language."

I look at him, then we burst out laughing.

After resting a bit, sadly it as just me, Steve wanted to get a news paper. I was fine with that, I'm curious to see what coupons it has anyway. ... thats if it'd have coupons. Don't see too many in those now a days. Once steve got his news paper, my stomach growled. Talk about embarrassing.

"Want to get something to eat?" He chuckles.

"I don't. It does." I say pointing to my stomach.

"Come on." He chuckles leading me to a café.

"Steve, really I can wait till we get back to the tower."

"And I really don't mind having some time to read." He says hold up his news paper as we enter the café.

Before I head to the line I ask him, "Want anything?"

"Coffee black, and a bagel." He says while grabbing his wallet.

"Got it." I say walking away.

"Alivia!"

"What?" I ask him while waiting. He just holds out some cash, causing me to chuckle. "You find us a seat. I got it this time, Steve."

"But-"

I cut him off, "Steve. I've got it. You can pay for it next time."

"But I really shouldn-"

"Steve." I say firmly "Do you know what I want?"

"No."

"Good. Go sit down." I point to the table area.

Dejectedly, more like he was feeling guilty, he picked us a table by the window and sat down, pulling out his paper to read. I couldn't help but smile, shaking my head. When I got to the counter, I ordered one bagel, a black coffee, a chocolate chip muffin and an ice water. The bagel and muffin were already made so I grabbed them and my water and set them down on the table Steve was at.

Steve looked up from his news paper, "I could've got that."

"Me too. Its not like they weighed a ton" I responded, holding up my muffin. I smile at the thought of the muffin weighing a ton, so Steve would have to help hold it up so I could eat it.

'I wonder if I could get him to.' I think evilly. A red Steve would be hilarious.

"Alivia" I get up when I hear an employee call my name to get the coffee, so does Steve.

"Sit." I stare firmly at Steve.

He sits with a bit of a shocked expression. "My treat. My service. Wait your turn." I smile as I grab his coffee and bring it to the table.

He looks a bit baffled but says, "You don't like people paying for you?"

I smile at him. "One, we're not dating." He blushes at my comment. "Two, even if we were. I'd split the check or take turns paying."

"Why?"

"Well," I start thinking about his era, "times have hanged. Some women want to feel important or equal. Paying for our own stuff says we don't need to depend on a man to take care of us. Sure its nice when someone else pays, but it feels nice when you can pull your own weight. Projects and teams work the same way for me."

"Personal experiences?"

"Yeah. School projects, softball..." I grimace at the thought, 'pulling the whole team when they slack is no fun'

"You played softball?"

"Yeah. Left fielder. It was fun but our team....had issues. The pitcher was on two teams, rarely showed up for practice. Could throw a fast ball, but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn... which made me grateful she didn't show up much, could of caused our team plenty of injuries. The couch's daughter was on the team, so played favorites... yeah it wasn't fun playing with them. Playing the game is fun, but when others don't try.... it kind of ruins it."

"Sounds tough."

"Well, I was just in it for the fun. So no big loss." I say grabbing a bite of my muffin.

"You know, thats not really healthy."

"Yeah, but cooked fruit really isn't my thing. If I had a plain muffin with fresh strawberries on the side I'd love it."

We went on like that for a bit, sharing some things here and there. I had a lot of fun spending some time with Rogers. Even knowing if I'd like to keep up, I'd definitely have to work out. Or I'm going to have some long days ahead.

We entered the towers elevator, still talking about the coupons we found in the news paper and how we'd go grocery shopping sometime when we reached the floor I was staying on. Only to be greeted by the gang of the Avengers.

"Where were you?" Tony asked with his arms crossed, foot tapping the ground in an angry way.

"Lost!" I emphasized with massive arm movement. "Hopelessly lost in the savage concrete Jungle!" Exaggerating my face just for effects.

Causing Tony to try hiding his smirk, but it made Clint smile. Steve just looked at me 'Really?'

"Well, I was." I pointed to me, then shrugged. "Anyway, I went with Steve for his morning run. I was up and Steve invited me. Kind of hard to say 'No' to those puppy dog eyes."

"I did Not!"

"I know. I was just teasing. Why are you guys here anyway?"

Natasha spoke up, "JARVIS said you left."

"Without your phone." Clint piped in.

"We were a bit worried." Bruce commented.

"Ah." 'Keeping tabs on me. Got it' "Well, sorry about that. I forget my phone a lot. I don't call, or get calls from many people. I use it more like a watch." I explain as I head towards the kitchen to cook some real breakfast.

"So did you have fun?" Clint asks as they fallow me.

I couldn't help it, I turned my head back towards them and grinned. "Maybe."

They waited for me to continue.

"Steve Rogers made me realize something about myself." I paused looking around the group, my smile only growing wider. "I'm a lazy fat ass."

"...I didn't mean too..." he mumbled weakly.
