3 Chapter 3: The Spy

Chat GPT did an update and I didn't notice. The changes were making it wonky and starting over from the beginning instead of translating the text as requested. I'll have to redo these chapters again from scratch. Now that I know what is going on I know which protocol I need to use moving forward to make sure there are no more repeats. Apologies.

On the streets of Konohagakure.

Uchiha Dan and Samui walked side by side, weaving through the bustling crowd. Dan, handsome with a height nearing two meters and a robust physique, exuded a potent masculine charm as he moved.

Like a majestic tiger, the king of all beasts.

At his side, Samui was delicate as a bird. Her golden hair and blue eyes, coupled with her fair skin and an impressive figure, made her an exotic icy beauty. This "beauty and the beast" duo, was always the center of attention wherever they went.

Samui's gaze seemingly casually swept across the streets and crowds, but in reality, she was constantly collecting information. Three years ago, a delegation from Kumogakure visited Konoha, aiming to secretly kidnap the young Hyuga Hinata to study the secrets of the Byakugan. However, they were killed on the spot by Hyuga Hizashi.

Afterward, despite being in the wrong, Kumogakure accused Konoha of murdering their envoys in a domineering manner, even threatening to wage war. Unexpectedly, Konoha quickly caved. Under the instruction of the Third Hokage, the Hyuga clan handed over the corpse of Hyuga Hizashi, the clan leader's younger brother, to appease Kumogakure. News of this victory greatly boosted the morale of Kumogakure.

Since then, Kumogakure's actions became bolder. The Fourth Raikage soon issued an order to send spies into Konoha to gather intelligence, preparing for a full-scale war. Samui, a special jonin at the time, was an important member of this mission. The Fourth Raikage chose her, and trusted her, for good reasons.

Kumogakure, located at a high altitude with many peaks and intense sunlight, resulted in its ninja, regardless of gender, having tanned skin due to prolonged exposure to strong ultraviolet rays. This distinct feature made them noticeable. However, Samui had fair skin and was difficult to link with the dark-skinned people of Kumogakure. With her broad knowledge, maturity, and careful demeanor, she was exceptionally suited for espionage.

At that time, after Konoha sacrificed Hyuga Hizashi and made peace with Kumogakure, Uchiha Dan went to Kumogakure to order a large number of fitness equipment. Kumogakure's intelligence department noticed Dan and found out his identity - he was the brother-in-law of the Uchiha clan leader. Coincidentally, Samui's primary mission in infiltrating Konoha was to gather information about the Uchiha clan.

Therefore, she disguised herself as a civilian, followed Dan to Konoha, and successfully applied to be the receptionist at the gym. However, she soon realized that Dan had long severed ties with the Uchiha clan, and it was challenging to obtain valuable intelligence from him.

Until today.

Dan had defeated Uchiha Itachi, a genius, in a way she could not comprehend. Samui stole a glance at Uchiha Dan. She realized that perhaps this man she was spending every day with was more worthy of her attention than Uchiha Itachi.

However, what Samui could never have imagined was that Dan knew her identity and intentions all too well. He knew she was a spy. Though Samui appeared late in the original Naruto series and didn't have much screen time, she was a character who left a deep impression.

After all, she was too... striking.

Unforgettable at first sight.

However, why should Dan, an Uchiha, care if Samui was a spy? Dan was not a ninja of Konoha and felt no sense of belonging or identification with the village. Even if Konoha were to be destroyed, he wouldn't mind.

He might even sit back, watch the show, and applaud.

For him, Samui was a woman of low-key and stable personality, diligent and serious in her work. Not only was she a good employee, but she also took the initiative to do laundry, cook, and manage various housework. She worked hard to be able to stay by Dan's side.

It couldn't be denied.

Samui's presence greatly facilitated Dan's daily life, allowing him to focus more on his training. Where else could he find such a perfect helper?

So, he pretended not to know that Samui was a spy and thus, had been freeloading off her for three years.

Beside the Leaf River, willow trees swayed gently in the breeze.

A stone bridge spanned the river, connecting the southern and northern parts of the village. Dan Uchiha and Samui strolled across the bridge, a few hundred meters to the south and around the bend, they would be back in the familiar alleyway.

But at that moment, a disturbance suddenly erupted on the street behind them, as if something was amiss.

The next moment, several harsh shouts rang out like a thunderclap in a clear sky.

"Halt! You there in front!"

"The police force is pursuing a spy, all unrelated personnel clear the area!"

"Talking to you! You think you can run?"

The word "spy" caught Samui off guard, causing her eyes to widen in surprise, her body to shiver.

Had she been exposed?

She calmed herself down, forcing herself to maintain composure, quickly thinking about when she had slipped up and how to deal with the potential arrest and interrogation by the police.

Feigning surprise, she turned to look at the source of the commotion.

What she saw was a crowd of seemingly inconspicuous pedestrians, who suddenly burst into action, sprinting across the bridge at an alarming pace. Hot on their heels were a group of Uchiha police officers, their eyes locked onto the spies, relentless in their pursuit.

The police were not after her.

Samui, realizing it was a false alarm, exhaled in relief, her body drenched in cold sweat.

But the situation was far from over.

Enemy village spies were undoubtedly dangerous. But the Uchihas weren't any less threatening, at least within the village, they were a group people would prefer to avoid.

Suddenly, the spies and the Uchihas were in a standoff on the bridge, causing immediate chaos among the pedestrians, some even jumping into the river to escape.

Dan Uchiha also turned to face the commotion.

He glanced at Samui, who looked rather guilty, then shifted his gaze to the front, looking at the opposing parties sprinting towards them.

Everyone on the bridge was fleeing, except for Dan and Samui who remained in place.

Especially Dan, his towering figure standing like an impenetrable wall, right in the middle of the bridge.

The leader of the spies, a bald man, charged at Dan like a gust of wind.

Was this guy also a Leaf ninja?

The bald man's fierce gaze was fixed on Dan. The man blocking his path wasn't dressed like a Leaf ninja, but his large build suggested he was no ordinary man.

An intent to kill surfaced in the bald man's eyes, and he growled, "Get out of my way!"

As his words fell, he drew a kunai from his sleeve and thrust it towards Dan's chest.

Just as the two were about to clash, there was a "bang!"

The bald man threw a smoke bomb to the ground, instantly creating a smokescreen that obscured Dan's vision.

Seizing this opportunity, the bald man quickly changed his target to Samui.

Compared to the imposing, unpredictable Dan, Samui, with her golden hair and curvaceous figure, seemed like a harmless woman, an easy target for taking hostage.

Realizing the danger, Samui's face paled.

Facing the bald man who charged at her like a mad dog, she instinctively wanted to fight back.

But doing so... would most likely expose her ninja identity, and if the police got involved, her chances of survival would be slim.

In a split second, Samui clenched her teeth, forcefully suppressing her urge to retaliate, standing there as if she was paralyzed by the shock, unable to move. She would rather risk injury than expose her identity here. Seeing her frozen, the bald man smirked, seeing an easy target. He moved closer, bringing the sharp kunai to her throat. But, almost simultaneously... Whoosh. A hand as thick as a grown man's thigh, strong as steel, shot out from the smoke, spreading out like a five-fingered mountain, enveloping everything. It grabbed the bald spy's bald head. "?!" The bald man was taken aback, he hadn't expected Dan to be so tenacious. He immediately tried to cut the hand off with his kunai. With a clang, the kunai collided with Dan's arm, creating a metallic sound and even sparking. How could this be?! The bald man stared, wide-eyed. The next moment. With a loud thump, the veins in Dan's arm bulged as he exerted his strength. The force traveled through his muscles to his fingers, and under their grip, the bald spy's head... Instantly burst open.
