15 CHRISTA WAS ANGRY WITH THOMAS

Christa felt like her knees go weak and will give way at any moment. Taking some deep breaths thinking, 'Oh dear God now she will wake up the whole house, and they don't like me already.'

Afraid to speak seeing how angry she was, when she shouted at me once again, this time even louder.

"I ask you something, so speak up?" Fumbling to say her words clearly, when Thomas steps into the kitchen.

"Mrs. Marva, what are you making so much noise for? Don't you know we have guests in the house?"

When the woman said, "Who is this twit in my kitchen? And she better cleans up this mess right now?"

Christa see him look her way, afraid he might shout at her also before he could say a word she said.

"I am very sorry for the mess, I will clean it up, just show me where the cleaning detergent is? And the moping bucket and mop, it will just take me a minute."

Thomas seeing how frightened she was, knowing the day was already stressful for her, could be the reason she is clumsy.

But he knows Mrs. Marva could be frightful at times, and from the sound of her loud speaking, this is one of the times.

With the milk all over the floor, Thomas stood still as he kept his eyes on her. She was trembling with fear, and her forehead was wet with sweat.

Not wanting to scare her anymore, Thomas said, "You my darling is tired and is going to bed, and why are you in the kitchen? I could have easily gotten the servant to bring up whatever you needed."

"I am sorry for the mess, but I just wanted something hot to drink. And this milk had no label on it, and I could only drink soya milk."

"Mrs. Marva, you have scared my wife half to death, now do we have any soya milk?"

"Yes Sir, I will get it for the Mistress. Sir, and I am very sorry, I didn't know, this young lady is the new Mistress in the house?"

"Mrs. Marva, next time I hear you speaking to someone in that tone of voice."

Before he could say anything more Christa said, "Please, don't be angry with her, it's just that I needed something hot to drink. If I drink any other milk I get diarrhea."

When Mrs. Marva turn aside to get the milk, Christa took the wet rag from the sink and went about cleaning the milk from the floor. "Mistress, please leave that, I will attend to it, and I am very sorry."

"Just hot the milk for me please, I am almost done here. At my home, we don't have people waiting on us hand and foot.

And from the morning I will help with the chores, also I will prefer to prepare my meals, thank you. So please, I want no one fussing over me, and you can call me Chris. I hate Mistress already."

"But Miss."

"Stop it,"

Thomas recalls Aliza saying she was quiet but she is not. Watching her just take the milk and walk out of the kitchen. As soon as she completed the cleaning up.

"Sir, please, I will get in trouble with your mother." Mrs. Marva responds.

"Leave that to me, now try and get some rest, it is already past eleven." Thomas hurried after her, holding her hand firmly.

"Not that way, my room is this way."

"Mr. Fortune, I have no intention of sleeping in your room."

"I can see that, now I don't want you to worry about your things. I have already taken them into our room."

"Ours, I am not going to sleep with you."

"But sweetheart you already did, so what is the big fuss all about now, we are married."

In his room, she just snapped at him, "Let go of me, you big bully." Releasing her hand, Thomas locks the door then went to bed.

With his back facing her, hoping, 'She will relax and stop all this tantrum and come to bed.

Five minutes must have passed when he turned to see what she was doing. Seeing she was sitting on the chair sipping the milk slowly.

Hearing her sniffling, Thomas knew she was crying once more. It wasn't much longer when he heard her rushing to the washroom.

Wanting to go to her aid, but she might just become angrier with him. And she already demanded that I don't touch her.

Lying still recalling, 'At the reception, she just nibbles on a few pieces of vegetables. Now everything she had eaten during the day came out.

If she continues so, she will become very weak and might get sick.' Waiting for her to come out of the washroom, it seems like forever but she did.

Hearing her groan as though she was in serious pain, as she went and sits on the floor,

Whispering so she won't hear, "Oh God, she is so stubborn. If I speak with her she might start crying again or storm out of the room."

Hearing the clock bangs the midnight hour, yet she sits on that corner.

"I should name that corner, Christa's corner."

Smilingly I close my eyes, thinking, 'She will settle down and give in eventually. Knowing that the floor is so hard.' Waking to the sound of her sneezing.

"Oh God, she did not come to bed." Going to her, I was about to lift her off the floor.

Thinking she was asleep but her voice stops me. "Leave me alone."

"But you will get sick"

"Then that should be just perfect, all your troubles will be over and I will get some peace."

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Can't you take a hint? I don't want to sleep with you. I don't want to have anything to do with you. So just leave me alone for God's sake."

"Okay, have it your way, just remember we are married, and this is our room. And from now on, I expect you to stay in this room when the night comes."

Angry with her for such stubbornness. Thomas throws his covers on her, then lies down.
