Excited To Kill

Yren was pulled into the Dungeon room and tossed like a rag doll, hitting the floor and rolling. He groaned but got up quickly, about to reach for his sword, but stopped.

"You're back!" Mika shouted at Yren, and he groaned.

"And you're a jerk! Sheesh, that hurt!" Yren complained.

"Don't give me that! You're the one that keeps cheating all the time!" Mika complained, stamping one of her big feet and crossing her arms across her small chest.

"Identifying what is in the room before I blindly jump in is not cheating! You standing on the other side of the entrance is more like cheating than what I did!" Yren shouted back, but his mind was also trying to think of a way to trick the Were-rabbit again.

"Cheating? I have been waiting since yesterday for you to come back, you jerk!" Mika screamed, and Yren took a step back in surprise.

Yren hadn't really thought about it, but It must get really lonely in here for the monsters. These were prisons of a sort, so it wouldn't be like they would get taken to somewhere nice while humans weren't in the dungeon.

"Well, sorry that I made you wait. Can I ask you a few things before we start today's game? I had to stop and get my license before coming here, and that's what took so long," Yren explained, and Mika puffed up her cheeks, giving Yren a glaring look, but she nodded.

"Fine! What do you want to ask anyway?" Mika asked, and Yren walked to the center of the room and sat down.

"First of all, are you stuck in just this room? Can you leave the dungeon, or can you go to other floors?" Yren asked as he started to stretch on the ground.

"I can go to other floors, but I can't help you, same with the other monsters. We can never leave the dungeons as far as I know, but you would have to ask Mira about that," Mika explained as she slowly came closer to Yren, who was leaning forward to touch his toes.

"There is an item you can use to summon one monster as a party member, the Summoning Jewel. You can find them on the lower levels of some Novice Dungeons, but they are Rare Items, so the drop rate is varied. I am sorry that I cannot affect that for you, but there is a chance that the Guild might have some you can use Guild Points for," Mira, the Dungeon Core echoed through the room.

Yren nodded as he stood up to continue stretching and made a mental note to talk to Ginny in the morning. He would have to find out what other uses the Guild Points had before he started spending them.

"Okay, then what about items? I know that killing monsters gets me items, but that isn't really what I want to be doing, right? So then, how do I go about getting items?" Yren asked as he pulled one of his arms across his chest.

"I can answer this one!" Mika said with excitement and then explained saying, "There are three ways! Chests, quests, and cleaning up monster messes! Chests can be found in secret rooms, then you get quests from us. The last is monsters you kill on quests for us! They are real monsters, so no worries about killing them!"

Yren nodded and looked directly into Mika's green eyes.

"Okay, I am ready now. Same game? Or do you switch it up?" Yren asked, and Mika grinned, baring what looked like razor-sharp teeth to Yren.

"I can choose whatever game I want, but you are pretty smart. So, this time we will do something that you can't think your way out of! Mother, Summoning Gates, Mob Level Three!" Mika shouted out, and suddenly the room was split in half by a transparent red barrier.

"What is this supposed to be?!" Yren asked, but as he did, a red portal opened at the far end of the room.

"Since you are so excited to kill something, then let's make a game out of it! The first one to finish their wave is the winner! If you win, I will let you have all my loot!" Mika declares as the same portal opens at the opposite end on her side.

Yren nodded and took a deep breath as he reached for his sword, feeling his heartbeat rising with excitement. Yren pulled his sword out to get ready as he stared into the red abyssal hole, but then his breath caught in his throat as he looked at his sword.

"Wah?! Where is my sword blade?!" Yren asked in a panic, but as he did, a giant pig-faced pink creature walked out of the portal, followed by four more.

"NO! You have to stop cheating!! Gah, I will not lose to you again!" Mika screamed as she burst forward at her group of Orcs.

Yren had no idea what Mika was getting so mad about this time, but he needed to focus. Taking a deep breath in, Yren focused on the orcs that each was about a foot taller than him, so he would need to have a bit of range.

Suddenly, as if reading his thoughts, a blue light burst from the hilt of the bladeless sword. The light coalesced into the blade of a longsword and became precisely what Yren needed, and he grinned, bursting forward.

"I guess I could see why you think this is cheating, but I have trained in all weapons, so this is perfect for me!" Yren yelled out with excitement, approaching the first Orc.

The creature's eyes were solidly red, and it charged at Yren recklessly, letting out a roar. The Orc swung at him, but Yren ducked low and struck up with a powerful strike.

The strike sliced a massive cut across the Orcs chest, but instead of blood, the cut revealed blackness, and then it exploded. Something dropped, but Yren had no time to check as another Orc came boring down on him.
