1 A dream so sweet

Ch 1 - A dream so sweet

Mia doesn't have friends. Not anymore.

She's alone and alone and she doesn't think she can be anymore alone. Her voice sounds like sandpaper as she tries to work it for the first time in forever.

"I'm fine." She smiles, lips pulling up to reveal white teeth, not perfect, but it wasn't crooked either.

"Anything interesting happen this week?"

Mia wonders if this girl ever gets tired. Of talking to a wall. Talking to someone she knows she'll never get through.

She keeps her lips obediently shut after those two words. A quiet smile stay frozen on her face though her eyes were ice cold. Her lovely therapist doesn't continue either, hands by her side, petting a dog in her arms as she waits patiently for the words that'll never come.

It's habitual now. To stay like this for their entire 90 minutes session. One refusing to speak, the other refusing to continue without a damned answer. Mia doesn't mind. She loves this. Wasting her parents' money while getting some well deserved peace and quiet. Clearly a win win.

She doesn't remember the smile she hangs on her face, turning away from the prying eyes of the therapist, she starts fiddling with the silver ring on her finger.

It glints in the light a beautiful rainbow. A holographic ring she found on the internet, a rainbow she's never seen in the sky so she resolved to seeing one on her finger.

The metal was cool, bone chilling, really. Her black eyes shine with it, unblinking, unwavering. How nice inanimate objects were. They never left, never hurt you. They'd never do anything to you.

You wouldn't need to set your boundaries with them. And they'll never break them. How simple!

How terribly, fucking simple.

An unknown rage rises within Mia. Her fingers clench on the metal unconsciously, relishing in the pain that rides up her brain.

Her quiet smile turns upside down. A sneer appearing on her face as she remembers all the bullshit she went through this week. And how. Terribly. Loud. This dog's panting was.

"Dear oh dear. A terrible sneer. A nightmare she gets haunted with. A reality she gets taunted in."

"What nightmares did you get?"

Oh shit.

Mia frowned. She didn't mean to say that out loud.

Her therapist pets the head of the dog, her smile looking gentle as always. Except there was a hint of cold bloodthirst within it.

Mia goes cold as her eyes show her the blood of the dog splattering onto her body. A broken off scream as the head of the dog is ripped of it's body. The glasses of her therapist glints as she wiped the blood off her hands with a hankerchief she got out of nowhere.

"The dog was getting annoying." She smiles, lips over teeth, looking like she'd like to eat her next. "Please, continue."

And then it's gone.

Mia's eyes glazed over as she started shivering uncontrollably, almost as if a seizure had gotten hold of her neck, trapping her and shaking her, killing her. She could still feel the warm liquid over her face, her hands, her clothes.

"JUST FUCKING LEAVE ME ALONE."

Mia was going insane.
