6 Chapter Six

Todou flashed the short man a menacing glare to which he paled and took a few steps back. But it seemed Todou actually understood what the short man was saying for he said; “Go see Kota-san for your wounds” to Toshiro. “And come back immediately he’s done with you. You’re spending the night in a cell. Maybe that will teach you to stop picking fights”

Toshiro hung his head low and walked towards Kota’s office. Todou turned to me and I slightly jumped, shifting even farther. My back came in contact with someone and I turned to see Ryu. I glared at him. This was all his fault.

“Gotou Ryu” Todou called. “According to Aito-kun’s statement, you spilled hot coffee on him?”

Ryu nodded. “It was an accident”

“No it wasn’t!” I protested.

“Shut up! Baka!” Todou yelled.

“Bu-

Todou glared at me so I zipped my lips. Yamamoto or not, I truly believed he would hit me. No matter how angry my parents would get.

“Now I don’t care whether it’s true or not” Todou said. “You two are spending the night in jail with Toshiro. Any complaints and you’ll spend two nights accompanied with hard labour”

I glared at Ryu even harder. Fuck! I had so much to do! I was supposed to have lunch with Sakura and Yua then meet up with Haruto at Sara’s party so we could snoop around and see if there was anything we could use against her. Now I would lose all that because of him.

“No objections sir” Ryu said, not seeming affected by my death glares. “But, I need a new phone. Aito broke mine so I want his”

“No fucking way!” I shouted.

“Aito! Language!” Todou barked.

I grumbled out an apology but my glares only intensified. Ryu looked at me then let out an amused smile. The fuck was he smiling for? What the hell was so funny?

“It’s only fair that you give him your phone or buy him another one” Todou said and I looked at him like he had grown an extra head. “Or I can read to you what happens to a person that destroys another person’s property and I promise you, your parents won’t be able to get you out of this. I’ll make sure of it”

Damn. No wonder Ryu was smiling. He knew this would happen. Sometimes I wished Todou wasn’t a policeman but he had bent the rules so many times for us so I guess it had it’s own advantages.

I sighed. “Fine. I’ll buy him a new phone”

Ryu beamed. “Thank you Aito-kun”

I rolled my eyes at his feigned friendliness. Since that was settled, Todou sent Ryu to Kota for his injuries then locked me in an empty cell. I sat on the floor and sighed heavily.

Fuck.

********

“Would you quit staring at me?” I growled at Ryu who was sitting across from me.

He smiled. “How do you know I’m staring at you?”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean? I can see you staring at me. It’s creepy”

“I’m only looking at you because you’re looking at me. You’re the one creeping me out”

“What nonsense!” I exclaimed.

A baton suddenly hit the table. “Quiet down you two! There are people trying to eat peacefully!” Todou shouted.

“Uh... Niisan” Toshiro whispered. “You’re the one shouting actually”

Todou gazed around and noticed that every single person in the restaurant had their eyes on us. His brow twitched. “Sorry everyone. Please, enjoy your dinner”

I snickered but it quickly turned into a scowl when my eyes met Ryu’s. Ryu’s presence greatly irritates me. He just kept staring at me with those dark eyes that seemed to see right into my soul. It kinda made me feel bare.

We had spent close to eight hours in the cell, doing nothing but sitting on the cold hard floor, glaring at each other. Toshiro was put in a separate cell while Ryu was put in mine. It took a lot for us not to strangle each other right there. Though I knew I would lose.

Toshiro was a mess. His right cheek was swollen and he had a purple eye while Ryu had a gash on his lower lip and his nose was a teeny bit swollen but that was it. The injuries were enough proof to know that Ryu was much much stronger than Toshiro and if Toshiro can’t beat him, how could I?

I guess that was the main reason I didn’t want things to get physical. There’s a kind of pride that comes with my handsome face. If he ruins it, I’ll be done for. But, Ryu actually had a huge amount of self control. No matter how much I insulted him, he sat still. Other people would have landed a punch on me.

After Todou was done with his work, he decided to take us out for dinner. We were in a local restaurant. Toshiro was sitting across his brother while I was directly across Ryu.

“Hey niisan, you won’t take us back to the cell, will you?” Toshiro asked, stuffing a piece of fish into his mouth.

“That depends on how well you behave during this dinner” he replied. “Aito-kun and Ryu-kun seem like they want to sleep in the call for two more nights”

I blanched. “No way! If anything, it’s his fault” I gestured at Ryu who was busy stuffing his face with rice.

Todou sighed. “Don’t make me call your father Aito-kun”

I blanched and zipped my lips immediately. My father already told me that if he gets called for another misconduct of mine, he’d send me to America and I still had business to take care of so I couldn’t afford to leave.

“Todou-san, could Aito-kun buy me a phone after dinner? I really need one” Ryu said to Todou in a very polite manner.

Todou actually beamed. “Of course of course. You have enough money with you don’t you Aito-kun?”

I grumbled out a ‘yes’

“Good good. We’ll stop by a shop after dinner” Todou said and I inwardly cursed Ryu.

My eyes fell on the salt and pepper shakers in front of me and a great idea popped into my mind.
