Satoru Latreia: A New Adventure

Hello, as no one will know, my name is Satoru Yoshida, an exemplary Japanese, if I don't take into account my addictions such as manga, anime and light novels.

You may be wondering why I'm telling you about my life, or why I talk as if someone is listening to me. Well, it's simply because, at this very moment, I find myself on the verge of death, at the hands of the dreaded Truck-kun, sacrificing myself to save a stupid old man who can't see the streets clearly.

Like the noble citizen that I am, I stand in his way and push him without thinking, without stopping to consider the consequences. However, this may not have been the best idea, for as I fall, I hear the crunch of old, brittle bones. Still, I don't regret saving his life, even if I have to spend a few months in a cast in return. He doesn't complain, but as I watch the truck approaching at full speed, I think about it for a split second.

How is it possible to think so much in such a short time, you ask? Maybe it's unreal, inconceivable. Even I myself don't understand how my mind speeds up and registers every detail. I watch the truck slowly approach, in an ironic game of life and death. Oddly enough, I don't feel fear of death, but of something else entirely. At this moment, at my tender age of 18, my mind is riddled with regrets.

Hyperventilating, barely perceptible tears well up in my eyes as I think of all the goals I left unachieved. That time when I promised my mother I would buy her a spectacular house or that time when I swore to my family that I would rank number one in my class. Clearly I failed on both counts, seduced by an addiction to anime. How sad! I am overcome with deep dread at the thought of how my parents will feel upon learning of my death. The thought is terrifying, death only becomes a monster when there is something to mourn.

At times like this, I can't help but imagine what would have happened if I had some special power, like those manga protagonists who are invincible and can do anything. I'd like to be one of them, so I wouldn't let anyone down. I swear, as a believer in reincarnation, if there is another life, I will give my best, even if I lack extraordinary powers.

But at this moment, I don't have time to think about anything else. I watch as the truck, just inches away, approaches me. Despite all my thoughts and reflections, you might think I would remain motionless. However, that is not true. I try to move, even a little, desperately. But at a time like this, when my body is completely paralyzed, whether from shock or any other reason, there's not much I can do. Especially when a truck is heading straight for me at a speed of 100 km per hour.

Just at this instant... I don't remember.... Do I?... yes, yes, yes, yes! I remember... But, really?... Yes... I remember... The truck... it rammed me... my whole body... hit... with the truck... and was torn apart... torn apart... I couldn't help but spill a lot of blood.... The old man and the driver looked at me, pale and with horrified expressions. I guess they knew what was coming next from having been involved. "Hehe... Speaking of which, where am I, everything is so dark and slimy..... I feel so tired and I can barely think.... I'm so sleepy... Maybe I can sleep some more...

When I come to, I'm still submerged in this sticky place. I begin to think carefully about my situation and, strangely, I don't panic. Instead, I am overcome with an unusual calm. Upon careful consideration, I come to the conclusion that the place I am in is the womb of my mother-to-be, and that the gods heard me when I passed away. So here I am, in this dark and slimy place. "Hahahahaha!" I'm excited to be reborn, I've dreamed so much about this possibility.

"Αχχχχχχ πονάει...!!!"

-What the hell was that sound? - I wonder. If I'm not mistaken, it's coming from outside. "What a bummer." I try to move or kick as I try to figure out what's going on.

"Μωρό, μην κουνηθείς πολύ, παρακαλώ!"

- Wow, this is a different language than the one I know, it looks like Roman or something similar - I reflect. I realize that I am probably in a place where my language is not spoken and I will have to learn it from scratch. How difficult it will be, no doubt. Although many claim that babies have a quicker ability to adapt than adults. Maybe I can learn it in a couple of years, since as a newborn, I have no other occupation than learning.

In the midst of my confusion, a dream enveloped me once again. It was a strange feeling, annoying but at the same time comforting. Slowly, I gave in to fatigue and drifted into a deep sleep.

Time seemed to melt away in the world I inhabited. I did not know how much time had passed since the beginning of my existence as an embryo inside my mother's womb, but each day became more and more challenging. I longed for some entertainment to distract me from the monotony that had taken hold of me.

Although I could faintly hear the conversations taking place outside my shelter, I could not make out the words being exchanged. They were only brief, fleeting phrases that reached my ears. Frustration grew within me as I struggled to decipher their meaning. I knew I had to wait patiently until the moment of my birth to fully understand human conversations.

And finally, that moment came. I felt an intense, suffocating pressure enveloping me, as if someone was embracing me with a mammoth force. Pain gripped me, but so did the excitement of taking a step forward on my path.

When I finally emerged into the outside world, I was met by a figure whose presence I had anticipated for months. It was my mother, and despite her slightly aged appearance, her beauty shone brightly. She was like those mature, attractive women I saw in anime. Although, of course, I felt no desire for her, as my thoughts and emotions were still developing and I did not fully understand the concept of sexual attraction.

At that instant, my father gave me a hard slap on my buttocks, causing me to burst into tears. It was my signal that I had arrived in this new world, so unfamiliar and yet so intriguing.

"Mrs. Adoration, here is your baby, what are you going to name it?" asked the doctor or midwife delivering the baby.

"Ahhh, my little one, how beautiful he is. It must be a blessing from God that my son is finally seeing the light of day. SATORU LATREIA ❤️, that's what I will call you, Satoru Latreia, my favorite son," said my mother with a smile on her lips.

At that moment, a revelation shook my mind. The surname Latreia... Wasn't that Zenith's last name, Zenith's sister and Rudeus' mother? Thoughts swirled in my head, trying to understand how I could be related to them. Was there an invisible bond linking our histories? What hidden secrets lay behind that shared surname?

My mind was flooded with questions and speculations as I began to explore the world around me. I knew that this was only the first page of my story, and that there was much more to discover.
