1 Chapter One Astra

3:15am. Groggily, Astra Bolton forced herself to sit up. It was 400 years since the Nuclear War, everyone had an early start - to help celebrate being alive even in a world with Nuclear Waste everywhere - but even Astra had not intended to wake up so early.

She turned on the lamp next to her bed, got up, and looked for her clothing. On the day when the peace was created, everyone wore grey as a sign of respect. She turned on her phone and scrolled down on her feed. She looked at all the pictures of how people were celebrating the peace and life.

Before she even knew what had happened, it was 5 am. She left her room and walked into the kitchen, her mother was already making food. Her mum was always the first up. In that sense, she was like her mum, they were both early birds. They enjoyed watching the peaceful world while everyone sleeps.

Upstairs, sleeping, was her three siblings: Elio (22), Ayla (20), and Neoma (17). They were all older than her. There was also her father. She looked a lot like him but she had her mother's almost white-blonde hair. She had lively brown eyes. She had slightly tanned skin, her mother's family was from Spain whereas her father was from England where they lived.

They turned on the TV, everyone on the News was also wearing grey. They were talking about the Nuclear War, the past and what the government is doing to celebrate it.

"400 years ago, there was a small country called Pashina in Southern Asia and they were trying to make military weapons to defend their small nation. There was a malfunction somewhere, someone either entered a location intentionally without command and it hit southern America. Taking this as a threat, The people fired back with Nuclear weapons. This is when they declared this a war. The two sides sent each other missile attacks continuously. There was no stop to these attacks against each other, until the effects of Nuclear Waste started effecting people. Poisoning the air. Radiation. When they finally agreed to stop, it was so they didn't kill the whole world with their war. However, The whole of Asia, Australasia, and South America was wiped out. The lands close to them were intoxicated with radiation, as a result people were forbidden from living there for the safety of the entire population of the world."

There was a car beep outside the house. Astra Bolton said bye to her mother and walked outside the house. She climbed into her friend Cynthia Mulligan's car. "Morning." She said with a smile.
