Chapter Two

"Where is he!" A voice yelled as they walked into the palace and Sarise gulped, her wolf retreating for cover at the mere sound of the voice that vibrated around her.

"I want him found now!!"

"Problem?" Amelia called as she walked into the house.

In the centre of the foyer stood the King, the veins in his neck bulging as he tried to control his wolf.

He turned at the sound of Amelia's voice, instantly calming.

"What has gotten you so wound up?" Amelia snapped, walking forward and kissing his cheek.

"Your friend crossed the border of War Pack." Noah growled and Amelia's eyes flashed gold.

"Have Alpha Winters detain him. Shouldn't be hard to track him given he's a rogue." Sarise called, looking around the foyer and whistling before she continued.

"Have him contain him until you can get to there." Both turned to look at her. "I'm assuming you're talking about Braaka?"

She turned back to look at the two. She instantly noticed the height difference between the them.

Amelia was by no means a short woman, standing at five feet nine without her heels, yet she only reached the shoulders of the man she now clung to.

She looked absolutely tiny in his arms. The man himself was a tall and lean, muscles in his arms bunching as he attempted to control his wolf, his golden eyes glaring at her.

"Who the hell..." Noah snarled. Sarise gulped lightly and saw Amelia slap him.

"Stop it!" She snapped and he turned to her. "You remember Sarise"

Noah's eyes instantly went back to a stunning blue and he walked forward, holding out his hand.

"Sarise." He said with a stunning smile. "Forgive me I was..."

"A touch stroppy." She pointed out with a smile and shrugged. "It's fine. Though I assume it's Braaka?" Noah nodded. "So, what has the sperm reject done now?"

"He crossed the border of War Pack." Noah answered, shaking his head and glancing at Amelia.

"Though this is not the time or place." He turned back to Sarise, smiling at her. "We should get you settled."

"Ya know I forgot how big this place was." Sarise laughed, looking around. "Still floors me every time I see it." She turned to Amelia. "Did you score or what?"

Noah chuckled, looking down at Amelia.

"I believe I'm the one who scored." He replied.

"Look at you being all Zones like." She laughed, smiling when Noah winked at her.

"There have been a lot of comments about my lack of protocol lately." He stated, smiling. "And my less than desirable language."

"James loves it." Amelia pointed out and Noah chuckled.

"Yes, he has pointed out several times that he approves of the changes." Noah replied.

"James?" Sarise asked, watching people move through the foyer. "Have I met him?"

"My brother." Noah replied. "And I'm sure you will. He was excited to hear Amelia had a companion coming from Zone Nine."

"I just want to see if she's my mate brother." A voice called and everyone turned to see another man walking towards him.

"James, I assume." Sarise said with a smile and he inclined his head.

"But not my mate." He pointed out with a wink when he reached her, holding his hand out.

Sarise shook it and laughed, looking at the man who bore a striking resemblance to Noah.

"You sound disappointed." Sarise added and James shrugged, looking at Amelia and Noah snuggling into each other as he leaned over to speak with Sarise.

"You'll find it nauseating within a few days." He joked and Sarise laughed, looking at the two whispering sweet nothings to each other.

"I'm finding it nauseating now." She added, hearing James chuckle beside her as Noah looked up.

"You know it's against protocol to mock the king." He pointed out and James snorted.

"I'm not going to be executed for this lack of protocol, am I?" Sarise joked and Noah smiled.

"Not at this stage no." He answered.

"Well that's a bonus. I quite enjoy breathing." She laughed; a laugh James mirrored beside her.

"See told you he's a pussy cat." Amelia giggled and Sarise snorted lightly.

"Yes, a pussy cat with snarling fangs that could rip me apart in seconds." Sarise answered, rolling her eyes as Noah laughed.

"Though I am surprised to see the King rolling with the punches, so to speak."

"Seems my Luna is having a positive effect on me." Noah answered, looking down at Amelia with love.

"And vice versa." Sarise stated. Amelia looked at her, tilting her head in question.

"How so?" She asked and Sarise grinned.

"You swear less." Sarise joked and heard the even present Michael chuckle. She turned, smiling at him. "Oh, hey Micky, look at me been here two minutes and haven't sworn yet."

Amelia laughed as Sarise looked around again.

"Wow did you graduate or what." She breathed, looking at the elegant fixtures. "Hayley would die if she saw this."

"Better have a medical team on call when she comes to visit then." Amelia added and Sarise turned to look at her, smiling.

"Anyway." Sarise called, holding her arms out to her sides. "You gonna show me where I'm meant to be living? I assume you have housing for the Beta's in the city..."

"The Beta's live in the palace." Amelia answered, wrapping her arm in Sarise's and leading her towards the stairs. "We have a section of the palace set aside for them and their families."

"Families? You're expecting me to breed already" Sarise joked and Amelia laughed lightly as they walked up the stairs.

"Heaven help the man you breed with." Amelia laughed, shaking her head "And families as in Noah's Beta, . He lives here with his mate and two pups." Amelia stated as they headed down a corridor.

"Caleb and Marie. They live in the same wing that you'll be in." She shrugged. "All Betas live within the same housing as their Alphas. They need to be on call at a moment's notice."

"I did not know that!" Sarise laughed as they walked down the hallway "Well fuck me, look I learnt something. Go figure." She added causing Amelia to laugh as they walked towards what would become her new home.

"Has Alpha Winters ascertained how he initially managed to get so far into War Pack undetected?" Sarise asked as they walked down the hallway.

She'd been here for three days now and those three days had been spent trying to keep the knowledge that a rogue had crossed the border all but undetected from getting out.

In the end Noah had decided to call a meeting of the Alphas, bringing them together in order to discuss the matter.

This would be the first time Sarise would meet two of the three Alphas.

"We're unsure." Amelia growled lightly.

"Fuck." Sarise hissed as they reached Noah's office and pushed the door open. "The next question is if he can do it, how many others are able to do the same."

In the office beyond Noah stood with a group of men as a heated debate raged around them.

Amelia rolled her eyes, walking into the room the men turning at her entry.

"Your majesty." A stunning man called, his dark green eyes dancing with amusement as he walked up to her and kissed her hand. "You look stunning as always.

"And you Xander." Amelia answered, reaching up to kiss his cheek. "Are as cheeky as always." He smiled.

"Merric." Amelia added, reaching forward to kiss his cheek before she turned to Sarise. "This is my Beta, Sarise Chambers. Sarise this is Xander Masters, Alpha of Power Pack and..."

"A pleasure." Xander said sweeping forward before Amelia could finish and kissed Sarise's hand, looking up at her with his stunning green eyes.

Sarise pulled her hand from his slowly.

"Holy wow." She breathed batting her eyelashes at him and putting her hand to her chest.

"I assume a less intelligent women would have jumped into your bed with that one look huh?" She added mockingly causing everyone in the room to chuckle at the comment.

"Am I losing it?" Xander joked, smiling at her and Sarise snorted.

"You assume you had it to begin with?" She enquired, throwing him a mocking smile that caused another round of chuckles as she turned her attention to the man behind Xander.

"Alpha Winters, always a pleasure." She added holding out her hand which Merric shook.

"Please just Merric. I was less than surprised to hear you had been made Amelia's Beta." Merric said with a smile, reaching over to kiss her cheek. "Congratulations."

"You two know each other?" Xander asked, looking between the of them two.

"I meet Alpha Win...Merric officially a few days before Amelia's Luna Ceremony." Sarise answered.

"Yet I was not graced with an introduction?" Xander pointed out, smiling at her before looking at Noah. "Are we still keeping women from me?" Amelia laughed lightly as Sarise spoke.

"I was forced to leave early due to a family emergency." She answered, looking at Amelia. "Thank the goddess mother had a heart attack if it saved me from meeting Mister Sex Bags here."

"Wrong Alpha darling." Xander laughed, giving her a sexy smile as Noah spoke around them.

"This is it for now. I've just been informed that Jacob is going to be late." Noah stated. "He has been detained at the pack longer than expected."

"Such a shame, I did feel like a stripping down from mega brain himself." Xander answered, sweeping past Sarise and giving her hip a bump. "I trust you've been informed of the situation Sarise."

"I've been working with Noah, Amelia and Elijah on it for three days before you graced us with your presence." She answered, walking across the room towards Elijah as Merric chuckled lightly.

"Obviously without results." Xander pointed out, looking up from the map on the desk to her. "Otherwise why would the Alphas have been called here sweetness." He added with a smile and Sarise hissed under her breath lightly.

"Is he always like that?" Sarise whispered when she reached Elijah's side and he laughed, nodding.

"Xander has never been short of confidence." He answered, smiling at her. "He is however excellent at what he does."

"We haven't been able to locate Braaka." Merric voice cut through, shoving Xander lightly as the Alpha hip bumped him playfully.

"I thought you had men tracking him?" Xander pointed out as he walked to stand beside Merric at the front of the desk.

"We lost him when he went into the Zones." Merric answered, folding his arms across his chest and looking at Xander. "Once he's in the Zones it's near impossible to trace the scent he gives out as a rogue."

"Bloody Zones are no end of trouble." Xander growled and Sarise ground her teeth, looking at Amelia and seeing her shake her head lightly. "What about Jefferson? Can he provide..." Noah coughed lightly.

Xander looked up at him before his gaze shifted to the two women and he closed his eyes in a silent nod, peaking Sarise's interest in the unfinished statement.

"He's eluded us. He was nearly impossible to track as he got closer to the border." Merric pointed out. "Despite our best efforts once he was in the Zones, we..."

"I would be more concerned about how is he able to pass the pack borders." Sarise stated and eyes swung to her. "He's a rouge after all." She looked at the two men standing side by side.

"Unless the Alphas are slipping in their duties?"

"Watch it." Xander growled lightly, his eyes flashing silver and Sarise shrugged, stepping forward and looking at the map on Noah's desk.

"Let's face it." Sarise stated, indicating the lines of the pack borders. "While he'll be able to move through the Zones easily; given its reclaimed pack lands and isn't link to the bloodline of an Alpha; he shouldn't be able to move past the borders of standing packs without being detected." She looked up.

"There has to be something that's allowing him to do this."

"Goddess she sounds like Jacob!" Xander snorted, throwing his hands in the air.

Sarise frowned at him and he blew her a kiss.

"You seem unconcerned." Sarise pointed out, putting her hands on her hips, glaring lightly at Xander.

"Oh, darling I'm concerned." Xander answered, looking over her. "Concerned that you're a female version of Jacob. One of him is enough."

Noah chuckled, shaking his head lightly and tapped the desk with his knuckles.

"She is right however." He pointed out and everyone turned to him. "How is he getting into the pack lands."

Sarise stood looking at the map, tapping her chin lightly with her index finger.

"Is there anything that the Intelligence Alpha has on file that may be helpful?" She asked, looking up and Noah shrugged.

"Until Jacob gets here, I'm unsure what information he'll be able to provide." He answered.

"When is he expected to arrive?" Sarise asked, looking at Noah. "I'd be interested in picking his brain."

"Be careful that's all you pick sweetness." Xander joked and Sarise turned to him, throwing him a questioning look.

"He'll be here before the ball tonight." Noah stated and Sarise turned to him.

"Ball?" She questioned and Amelia laughed from the couch.

"Noah always throws a ball when there is an impromptu meeting of the Alphas." She stated, standing up and walking to her mate. "His way of covering that there is a crisis."

Sarise pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger.

"And you wonder why the Zones think your decadent." She muttered causing Elijah to chuckle from across the room. She dropped her hand, looking at the map. "I guess until Alpha Marcon arrives, we're at a bit of a loss."

"So, it would seem." Noah sighed.

Sarise looked back at the maps, tracing the borders of the packs with her finger tips.

"Thinking?" Amelia asked and Sarise snapped from her dream, looking around to see everyone was staring at her.

"It's nothing." She answered, stepping back and heard Xander groan.

"I swear she's exactly like Jacob." He stated, blowing a kiss at Sarise when she frowned at him. Sarise turned to Amelia.

"I know I'm meant to be polite, but do I have to actually like them?" She asked, rolling her eyes at Xander and Amelia laughed.

"It's not a requirement of the job." Amelia answered and Sarise smiled, looking at Xander and blowing him a kiss.

"Thank the Goddess for that." She added with a smile and Xander laughed.

"Darling you'll grow to love me." He answered, winking at her and Sarise laughed, folding her arms across her breasts.

"About as much as I'd love a lobotomy." She joked, tapping her chin in thought. "Actually, I think I'd love the lobotomy more."

Chuckles broke out in the room and Xander stood, walking over and giving Sarise a hip bump.

"I like her." He stated, smiling at Sarise before turning to Amelia. "She's a good fit."

"I'm flattered." Sarise laughed, bowing her head lightly before looking at Noah. "Do we have confirmation of when the Intelligence Alpha will arrive?"

"Eight o'clock." Noah answered. "Until then we wait."

"I hate waiting." Xander and Sarise said in union and the room exploded into laughter as the two finally agreed on something.
