Sanu Ko, Why?

My name is Kiokio. I am a 23 year old, unemployed, single woman that likes to fantasize about 2D black haired six foot men who only appear in romance anime's where the female lead is a hundred times hotter than me. It may seem like a stretch, but it's the closest I'll ever be to a man, Through a screen. My sister although is already married with a kid at 21. She gave birth to Jason at 16 and is still the best mom in my opinion. I've had a crush on her baby daddy since I was friends with him in sixth grade. back then, We shared lunch and gave each other the blue popsicles they gave out on Monday's to the special kids who make straight A's. We gave each other the vegetables we didn't like that was packed in our lunches, and talked about boys. He was gay in middle school, but once he met my sister for the first time after coming over for dinner. He changed. He stopped talking to me and now he can't even look at me when we bump into each other in the hallway of my parents house.

I still liked him, but I didn't know why. He keeps reminding me I'm tall when I'm only a staggering 5'3. I tell him it's not my fault he's 5'5". Now I am living in my friend Kia's apartment. Stuffed in a room filled with old antique records to new Elsa dolls with their voice speakers ripped out. And a bed. Kia complains that she doesn't have a spot to put all of her junk. Her old house had a basement and that's where she stored her boxes. I still think she needs to be put on a show where they empty her whole place and put her into therapy. I even caught her picking up a beer can and shoving it down her purse on our way to an outlet mall.

Last night I went out to a bar to have a talk with my favorite bartender. He listens and gives me advice on what to do in tough situations. He's almost like a brother to me. I've never had to worry about being touched when he is around because i know he will protect me. And he always does. I never see him from outside the bar. Our friendship stay inside the building and doesn't come out. Ive seen him inside a men's wear store and inside a boba tea shop multiple times. I dont stalk him, I just run into him randomly. But I don't say hi. Most of the time I'm drunk and I don't remember what I say to him, I could be blabbering random nonsense and the poor teenage boy would have to listen to it. Hopefully my headache has calmed down.

It was morning and the sun found the right spot between the two sides of the curtains just to ruin my morning. I heard the door open and crossed my fingers over stomach it wasn't who I thought it was. Kia shook my shoulders making the whole bed and third floor shake back and forth. I felt the dust from the ceiling fan drop onto my eyelashes and fly off seconds later. I was awake. But I didn't want to wake up. Instead, Kia moved to one of her boxes and pulled out extra large leggings which were way too small for her and a few pots and pans and tossed them aside onto an old beanbag she won at an auction. She pulled out a battery powered monkey with bells on the end of its finger tips and flipped the switch to turn it on. She place it on the ground and sat on the edge of my bed. She got close to my left ear and I couldn't help but let a chuckle out. I bit the inside of my lip and grabbed the itchy knitted quilt I got from my grandmother. The monkey moved across the wood floor and began to clap its hands together making a ringing sound. She blew into my ear and opened her mouth wide.

"WAKE UP KIOKIO"

My eyes still closed, I spit up into the air and began to start dying of laughter.

"Kia! You rat! You owe me lunch!"
