16 Chapter 15

In the previous chapter:

"Sam! Sam! Its Harry. Harry, is in the hospital come quick." Emily yelled running to the house from her small car.

JJ's point of view:

"What? What happened? Why is he in the hospital?" Sam turned to Emily.

"We have to go. JJ look after Leah and Seth." Sam ordered me. "Leah… Seth…" Sam realized what he said and that they heard the conversation about their father's stay in the hospital.

I quickly took a quick glance at Leah and Seth. Realizing that they heard the awful news of their father's accident.

Their ears were laying flat and Seth's muzzle and lips were pulled back, but no fangs were bared. His light brown eyes were peering intently between the four of us.

His golden fur was slightly bristled, his forehead furrowed, and his tail was straight down and not wagging like a few minutes ago, before he found out what happened to his father.

Unlike Seth, Leah started pacing between me when she heard the news of her father. Her body language was almost the same as Seth's. Her silver fur was bristled, and her tail was not wagging. Her silver ears laid flat on her head and outward and she started whimpering. They looked worried and anxious for their father.

"He had a heart attack. Sue found him in the living room. Fortunately, he fell on the couch and Sue acted quickly. The ambulance came and took him to the nearest hospital on La Push. If they took him to Forks or Seattle there would be a chance that he would not survive." Tears started rolling down Emily's cheeks and Sam hugged her.

After hearing this I looked closely at Leah. She started running to the woods in the direction that the hospital would be. I looked at Sam.

"Go after her!" he ordered, which was in vain because I was already planning to go after Leah, to stop her from going to the hospital in her wolf form.

I ran after Leah and sniffed out her scent because I could not see her in the dense forest as she was a minute ahead of me.

'Dang, she is fast.' I thought and tried to keep up with her. She was running around the trees, which slowed her down.

After a while, I finally find her near a tree laying down looking all sad with hears ears flat and her tail tucked in and not moving.

"Hey." I come closer to her and she jumped a little. "Sorry, did not mean to startle you."

"It's okay. Do you… Do you think he will be okay?" she asked me.

"I don't know. I am sorry. But I am sure that he will be fine. You heard it too. He survived the ambulance I am sure that the doctors will look after him." I try to console her.

"Yeah, I guess I just fear that he won't make it." She said and sat down. "And I am so stupid I wanted to go to the hospital as if they would let me in and I got lost in the forest that I grew up around."

"That is alright. The forest changed because as wolfs we have different perspective of it. You just must learn all the smells and signs. Seth is probably worried too. The worst is that since you can't change back yet you can't go anywhere. You can't even visit your father in the hospital and even if you change back there is a period of time where you will have to keep your distance so you can learn to control your emotions so you won't shift every time something offsets you. Come on, why don't we go back maybe they will know something more now." I tried to explain to Leah, hoping she won't misinterpret my words. I stood up and walked slowly the way I came from looking a few times behind me to see if Leah was following me. She had her head lowered all the way.

'She is really sad. I guess I would be too if it was my father in the hospital.' I thought to myself and continued, on the way to Sam, Seth, and Emily.

We returned to the house and they were already waiting for us. Leah walked to Seth and sat down by him.

"Are you alright Leah?" Sam asked her and Leah tried to nod. I returned back to the forest and shifted back to my human form with clothes that Emily gave me, since my previous ones were shredded on the ground.

"Maybe you should try shifting again. Why don't you go try it out one more time? Then we will try another method that I think might work." Sam petted Seth's head.

They both went into the forest where they put their clothes, I gave them on the ground earlier when they tried to shift and after few minutes they came back, still on their four legs.

"Ah. Alright I will grab a few things and try out the other process. But it will take a lot of time with this one…" Sam said.

"Is there anyone we can call that would give us new information, an update, on how Harry Clearwater is?" I asked Sam and Emily.

"We can call Sue." Emily took out her phone from her jeans pocket. She dialed Sue's phone number and after a few beeps from the phone, Sue's voice came through.

"Hello? Who is it?" Sue asked.

"It is me, Emily. Do you have any new information about Harrys condition?" Emily replied to Sue Clearwater, the wife to Harry.��

"Oh, no. Not yet. The doctors did not even come from his room yet." A small sniffle could be heard from the phone's speaker.

"Alright. We will come to the hospital if you need us there." Emily said to the distraught Sue.

"Thank you. I would like to. Did… Did anyone tell the kids?" Sue asked and Emily looked at Sam who shook his head.

"No. But when I'll see them, I'll tell them and take them to the hospital?" Emily asked.

"Alright, thank you. I don't know how I could tell them what happened. Please, don't take them to the hospital. At least not until I know more." Sue replied.

"Ok, see you later, when I arrive." Emily said.

"Goodbye." Sue hung up and Emily put her phone back into her pocket. She goes to Sam and hugs him.

I sat down on the ground and look over Leah and Seth. They were lying on the ground next to each other. Small whimpers coming from their direction.

We stayed like this for a few minutes when suddenly Emily's phone starts ringing. Emily's tan hand quickly reaches into her pocket and pulls out her phone, not even looking at the ID call. She answers with a quick hello.

"Hey. I just got latest information from the doctor that worked on Harry." Sue could be heard crying from the phone.

"What? Why are you crying? Is Harry alright? Don't tell me he…" Emily covered her mouth with her hand and tears started gathering in the corners of Emily's eyes.

Leah and Seth stood up. Their ears straight up as they walked closer to Emily. Everyone tensed when they heard Emily's not finished question. Fearing the answer.

"No! No. Thanks to Taha Aki. He is alright. Doctor Ross, one of the doctors that helped in the operation, says that he will be okay. That the surgery of his heart went well. The doctors just don't know when he will wake up. The bad news is that he fell into a coma…" Sue Clearwater couldn't continue talking more due to the tears.

"Oh, Sue. Don't worry. These news are better than the ones that could have been. I am on my way over to the hospital. Do you want me to bring you anything?" Sam's fiancée, Emily Young, asked Sue Clearwater.

"Coffee would definitely be good. The coffee here, in the hospital, is not great. Some spare clothes for me and Harry. You know how Harry is particular in what he wears. And some food. Just grab some leftovers from my fridge. If they are still there and Seth didn't eat them yet. Oh, and Emily, thank you. I don't know what I would do without you." Sue said to her on the phone and Emily nodded, forgetting that Sue could not see her.

"Sue, you know that what you just said is not true. Anyway, I'll hung up now, take the stuff and go. Which reminds me, do you still have that spare key where it was before?" Emily grabbed her bag from the ground.

"Yes, it is still there, right by the front door stairs. The colourful gnome. It is still in him. See you soon." Sue replied.

"Alright, see you soon." Emily hung up her silver phone and went to the car to put her handbag there.

After hearing Sue Clearwater, Leah's, and Seth's mother, confirms that their father is still alive, we all felt the tension go away. I can definitely say that we all felt relief as I have seen Seth's, Leah's and Sam's shoulders relax. Their tails pick up a pace as it wags around hearing the news. Even Demon can feel the change in the emotions as he runs around jumping and barking.

Leah beautiful silver and grey fur went back to her relaxed state and her ears were perked up and Seth was the same.

"Now we only need to find out how to change Leah and Seth back." Sam said to me.

"Yeah and what happened that would start their shifting. If only we knew that this would and could happen, we would have been better prepared." I sighed and ruffled my hair because it was getting into my eye.
