21 Predicament

The next day, the Tiger Army did not attack. After the loss, they had to strategize their next steps. They needed to prepare for the Dragon Army's reinforcements coming in 2 days.

General Yang received reports of immortal practitioners starting to participate in the battle. He immediately sent a courier to let the Capital know of this beforehand.

There was nothing to except prepare. Prepare for the next attack.

Caol did not idle even though he was having a bit of an inner struggle. He did not think anyone deserves to die, but if he did not kill those people, more would die and even Caol would not escape unscathed. Caol did his physical trainings and practiced controlling his qi to the maximum level.

Two days after, the reinforcements from the Dragon Army came. It was a grand total of four million soldiers. The day before, the Tiger Army already retreated back and evacuated their citizens back to the cities.

It was the Dragon Army's turn for to attack now.

There was a lot to be done before they started marching. Weapons needed to be made, food and supplies were to be brought along. War machines were built. These machines were necessary for sieging a city.

After a whole month, the Dragon Army started to march towards the Tiger Continent. Caol was joined by his group and got to ride alongside General Yang. There were other frontiers to the war too, but this was the only one available for mortals and martial practitioners. Immortal practitioners had to be separated as they create mass and unnecessary destruction in every place they battle.

They were now treading on the Tiger Continent's Death Valley. The hills here were so high, they were comparable to mountains. There was only one route they could take, it was a mountain pass.

There was a city built right in between two mountains. It was a stronghold. It made use of the geographical advantage and made it harder for the enemies to get through.

The Dragon Army's was almost five million strong, and brought a huge amount of intimidation once the people in the city saw this. The Army camped about three kilometers away.

It was a quiet night for the Dragon Army. Patrols roamed around the vicinity of the camp. What they did not notice, or expect, were complicated lines, interconnected to each other, covering the whole camp.

Then came shrieks and shouts. Fire started to spread.

General Yang went out of a tent and saw the scene unfold. He had a very ugly expression as he commanded his soldiers to defend themselves.

Sword lights started to accumulate and kill massive amounts of soldiers. Caol already felt the fluctuation and appeared beside General Yang.

"Damn immortals, we are trapped inside a formation. Quickly, send a message. Inform the immortal sects." General Yang cursed and ordered his aide.

The aide tried to send the messages using talismans, but they were blocked. In the air, they could see about forty people flying.

Caol thought, 'Why are immortal practitioners here?'

The whole camp was sent into chaos and more people died by the second.

Dragon Continent, 2 days away from the battlefield.

A group of immortals can be seen flying through the clouds at supersonic speeds. Granny Yu was ahead of the group. Panic and nervousness can be seen from her eyes. It will take them a few hours before they can go to the frontlines.

'I hope you are still alive by the time I arrive, Caol. Don't die!' Granny Yu adjusted her body and flew faster than the rest. She was consuming her energy at an alarming rate. Granny Yu just wanted to go faster so she can save Caol.

Dragon Continent, Dragon City, Imperial Palace.

An old, blind man was letting out a very scary aura. The sect that was supposed to hold the enemy was a traitor all along. If there was not a solution, their mortal army was going to be decimated in a few hours.

A lot of people were kneeling at this time. Generals, immortal practitioners, and imperial advisors. Master Jian calmly said, "Why was I only informed of this now?" Every word he said made the people kneeling sweat, even the Emperor felt the heavy oppression caused by the Grand Marshal.

A immortal sect leader stuttered, "Si-sir, we did not know about this beforehand. Our scouts only felt a fluctuation from a very powerful formation and sent the message to us. The sect hid their schemes very deeply and attacked when we were caught off guard."

"Oh?" Master Jian looked at this sect leader. "Then what are everyone of you doing here? Aren't you supposed to go there and help?"

The sect leader answered, "We have already sent for the strongest elders to keep the army alive."

Master Jian looked at all of them before saying, "I do not care if my disciple dies by his own stupidity. What I don't like is other people's carelesness that will lead to his demise. If anything happens to my successor..." Master Jian stopped for a bit and tapped the ground with his walking stick. It seemed to echo underground and everyone felt a tremor, "I want your heads."

Tiger Continent, Death Valley.

The army was in despair. More and more people died by the second. Caol and his elite group tried to save the people by deflecting the sword lights, however it was useless. They were overwhelmed by the seemingly tireless formation.

The immortals in the air were laughing. Once they annihilated the Dragon Army, they will defend the Tiger Army with all their might against the immortal sects of the Dragon Continent. By that time, the Tiger Army will be the only mortal army of the kingdom and ravage their way through to Dragon City.

Just by roughly looking at the corpses around him, Caol estimated that more than half a million people have already died, and it was still counting. He tried to charge his {Kamehameha} to get rid of the formation, but it was for naught.

This move of him just gained the attention of the immortals in the air. They looked at Caol's young age and his powerful might. They had to strangle this kid as he was going to grow up to be a formidable being. The immortals concentrated the attacks from the formation to Caol.

Caol could handle the first and second waves, but it just kept on coming. He was filled with wounds on his body.

Seeing this, General Yang made his move. He released his qi. A Martial Saint. This was one realm higher than a Martial Ancestor. General Yang went in front of Caol and protected him. Caol saw this and couldn't bear but sit on his butt. His energy consumption almost emptied his qi reserves.

Caol took a Senzu Bean and consumed it. Almost instantenously, his qi was filled and his wounds were healed.

Even with General Yang's power, he could not get rid of their predicament. A Martial Saint might be strong in the eyes of mortals, but it was almost like child's play in front of the immortals.

General Yang could only helplessly look at his army.
