11 Feng

As he was contemplating on whether he was going to join the army or not, a group of young people at the same age bracket as him, can also be seen on the sides. There were elderly men and women accompanying this group, and it seemed that they were very important. A lad of about eleven years old noticed Caol and started walking towards him. He looked like a very jolly fellow and introduced himself to Caol.

"Yo, it's rare seeing another kid here. I'm Feng, what's your name?"

"Dude, you are also a kid. My name is Caol. Are you going to participate in the conscription too?" Caol couldn't help but be curious as they were too young for the army.

Feng was very honest and couldn't help but nod, "Yeah, I'm joining with my junior brothers and sisters. I heard that the Emperor is going to create a regiment which will comprise of mainly youths of about ten years of age up to sixteen. Only talented young people can join and everyone will be given noble status. Isn't that why you're here too?" Feng though that Caol was here particularly because of this reason and couldn't help but be curious as Caol looked younger than him.

"I just saw the commotion on the streets and followed the people here. I didn't know that they were looking to make a group of young soldiers though. Anyway, are you from a sect or something?" Looking at their clothes, it looks like they are part of a group, that's why Caol asked.

"Yes, we are part of the Righteous Fist Sect. Don't tell me you haven't heard about it?" Feng was intently looking at Caol at this point.

"Honestly, this is the first time I've went out of the sect and I have no knowledge about the outside world. Forgive me for that."

Feng was surprised, "This is the first time you went out? That explains why you haven't heard about us. By the way, what is the name of your sect?"

"Immortal Gathering Sect." As soon as Caol said these words, Feng's whole body was paralyzed. The other members of the Righteous Fist Sect also looked at Caol with shock in their eyes. They misunderstood Caol as an immortal practitioner.

Caol also knew what they were thinking and immediately cleared up the confusion. "I was brought to the sect by an elder and was raised there since I was born. I am not an immortal practitioner though as I have no spiritual roots. I guess you could say I'm a martial practitioner."

Feng and his group heaved a sigh of relief. The reason why they were so shocked was because normally, immortal practitioners do not interfere with mortal affairs. Feng told Caol, "You scared me there for a second. Anyway, we need to start lining up. Are you coming with us?"

Caol has been hesitating for quite a while. He knew that joining the army will provide him with immense benefits, such as experts for him to fight with. 'Why am I thinking so hard about this? If this path will help me obtain power, then I should go with it.'

"Alright, I'll go with you guys." Xin and Xiong were shocked by this development. They thought Caol was only going to check out what was happening.

"Young Master, this decision isn't very appropriate. Elder Yu will be mad once she knows about this. Please re-think about this matter. Joining the army is not something you do rashly." Xin was begging Caol to think about this matter twice. Elder Yu was not going to approve of this decision, and they knew that. Once something bad happens to Caol, it was sure that Elder Yu would kill them. Xiong also knew about this, however he was more inclined on Caol's side as he can see the benefits of Caol joining it. He also heard about their conversation on the regiment which was made especially for geniuses.

Caol shook his head, "I have already decided. Besides, the Emperor won't just send geniuses to their deaths right?" Xin was still asking him, but no matter how much he begged, Caol's decision was firm.

Caol went with Feng and the others and headed towards a table that was specifically meant for the youth. They were asked to inscribe their information within a metal tablet. The soldier in charge of the recruitment also told them that they will have a test for the youth in 10 days so that the participants can set their conditions perfectly.

After the registration, Caol talked to Feng for a while before parting. Caol went with Xin and Xiong back to the inn. Xin was clearly in a bit of a panic because of this matter, while Xiong was a bit indifferent about it. Xiong's train of thought was that Caol had to make some decisions of his own too since he was also a martial practitioner, and a strong one at that.

Caol went to his room and deliberated about some things. 'First of all, my power. I am confident that I can handle most peak Martial Masters. The thing I'm worried about is if I can also fare well against Martial Grandmasters, which is the realm above the martial masters. As I was told by Granny Yu, those at the martial artist and martial master realms focus on martial techniques, while martial grandmasters focus more on the laws of the world. This realm starts with grasping principles of the basic elements, fire, water, earth, wind, and metal. It is a huge jump from the martial master realm. After the Martial Grandmaster realm comes the Martial Ancestor realm. Martial Ancestors start to analyze higher principles, such as space. One can also start flying once they are at this realm.'

'I need to have a more thorough grasp on other martial practitioners power. I think I need to get that item from the shop.'

'System, how much is a power radar?'

[A power radar costs 25,000 system currencies, however an improved scouter is only worth 150 system currencies and it is within the host's buying capabilities and it is also recommended by the system.]

'How much power level can an improved scouter detect?' Asked Caol as he only knew a little bit about their limits.

[An improved scouter can detect power levels up to 200,000 which at this point, is enough for the host.]

'Alright then, system. Exchange for an improved scouter.'

[The host has exchanged an improved scouter, deducting 150 system currencies. Host has 63 system currencies left.]
