Chapter 1Ch.1 - Lone Dragon

A/N: Hope everyone enjoys the book! This book is part of WPC#300, I've always wanted to do this but never got around to it, so now here we are! The chaps will be 1k words long each for quite a while, I still hope you enjoy it!

...

Alex Forbes, age 26, height 190 cm's, he's always had a fascination with dragons ever since he heard about them since young. He would write web novels in his teenage years, and every single one he wrote would have a dragon of some sort in it. True Dragons, Wyverns, Drakes, Wyrms, etc.

However, unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 24, and now… He was on his last breaths.

'If reincarnation exists… Please make me a true dragon.' Alex thought as he closed his eyes for the last time and his consciousness faded.

*Beeeeeep* The monitor flat-lined indicating his death.

After he fully lost consciousness a tender feminine voice rang out somewhere in his dormant mind.

[Alright, my love, as you wish.]

*Roar!*

A baby dragon had hatched in the ancient moonlight world and let out its first roar. This baby dragon was about 3 and a half feet tall. It had white and yellow scales as if it was a divine dragon.

However, no one was there to greet it. Its parents lay in the distance, dead. The surrounding area was nothing but a scorched wasteland covered in ash and burnt trees, shrubs, etc. It was a grim scene.

Its brothers and sisters' eggs were also destroyed with the yolk they were made from splattered on the ground.

It cried for weeks before finally opening its eyes.

This dragon… was Alex!

Alex looked around the scene in surprise.

'W-What happened!?! A-Are these dragons?!?'

Alex was stunned to find himself in a canyon, that canyon was full of dead dragons.

He walked around in surprise. Stumbling a bit having to get used to 4 legs.

'Wait… 4 legs?'

Alex looked down and saw he had a scaly body!

'I… I'm a dragon! I'm really a dragon!' Alex thought in excitement.

*Growl* Alex's stomach growled and his eyes dimmed.

'I can't stay here… I'll starve within a few days if I don't learn to fly and leave here.' Alex thought.

He looked around trying to see if there was a way up the canyon by walking but he didn't find any.

With that, he tried extending his wings but failed miserably. He kept trying, again and again. He just got a new life! He wasn't about to die from starvation before he could see anything!

For hours he tried to just extend his wings. Finally, 12 hours in he managed to extend his wings successfully.

After 8 more hours of nonstop effort, he managed to begin flying, though his speed wasn't particularly fast, it was only moderately faster than a horse's max speed.

Still, he flew out of the canyon and closed his eyes relishing in the wind on his face.

'This… This is my new life. I don't know what kind of blessings and curses this life may bring, but I intend to enjoy it to the fullest…' Alex thought.

He took a breath and managed to catch a pleasant smell in a certain direction. Curiously Alex began flying in that direction, after about 3 hours of flying at a speed of 80 miles an hour he finally saw the source! It was a large village having a feast!

Alex hesitated.

'If they see me there will definitely be consequences… It's a shame I can't talk with them or take on a human form.' Alex said.

Alex landed on a hill about 9 kilometers away where he could see the people of the large village working in the distance.

Alex stared longingly in the direction of the village while salivating and his stomach growled.

In the end, Alex sighed. He took flight and began searching for animals to hunt in the area.

While he was above the clouds, Alex was able to see many creatures, Foxes, Goblins, Bears, etc. He could see them all.

'This is definitely a fantasy world.' Alex thought solemnly. A lot of the creatures he saw proved this world wasn't sunshine and rainbows as he thought.

After flying for many miles he found a small clan of wolves.

Alex had this weird feeling like he could breathe some sort of hot substance out of his throat if he wishes, so he decided to test that real quick before going down to hunt those wolves.

He opened his jaw and imagined that hot substance coming out of his throat!

*BOOM!*

An explosion of cool white flames exploded in the sky.

Alex was satisfied, he immediately dived down from the sky causing the air to whistle alarming the wolves below.

When they saw a dragon dive-bombing from the sky they were terrified, they immediately lost all order and scattered.

Alex opened his jaw and shot flames out moving his head to create a ring of flames.

It was nowhere near a perfect circle but it closed all the gaps, this was enough.

Alex landed on the ground creating an explosion of dust and dirt. He weighed 150 lbs right now, this was actually unhealthily light for a dragon his age, so he needed to eat soon.

Alex opened his mouth once more causing a cool white light to gather in his mouth like a ball of white flames formed.

He didn't want to waste time, now that food was in front of him, he wanted to feast.

Instantly white flames covered the entire area.

Miserable howls rang out as the wolves died.

Many creatures watching from a distance trembled feeling a weak dragon's aura.

Half an hour passed, and Alex had finished cooking his meat perfectly. He licked his dragon lips with his dragon tongue and didn't hesitate to devour the food.

'Delicious!' Alex thought. Truly, that meat was perfect.

He hunted a few more packs of wolves before leaving for the day, he wanted to find a cave or something to rest in.

He found one in a mountain range and didn't hesitate to create a small nest following his instincts and fell asleep.

He woke up around 6 months later. He had grown a lot, he now weighed 400 pounds.

This process continued for 10 years until Alex heard something.

[Wish System, Online!] A feminine voice rang inside his head.

A/N: I hope everyone has enjoyed the first chapter! When this book gets verified as original, feel free to send some power stones my way. I would love to get top 5 in this WPC, that would be such a big accomplishment for me! If you have any comments or suggestions please don't hesitate, I love answering questions of the community!

Also if you could give a few reviews I would absolutely love it! Of course, that's once you get a good grasp on the book.

Anyways, don't hesitate to add this book to your library if you want to support the book.

Also, for those who are coming from the empyrean's rise, that is still postponed while I better plan it out and refine things. Don't worry it will definitely come back at one point. Though do expect a bit of revision. In the meantime, enjoy this!
