1 Chapter 1: Prologue
Drexel Cedar is the next in line to be Alpha of the Sagittarius Sect. He has been waiting to find his mate. He is physically frozen at eighteen even though he's reached his twenty-sixth year. His body is waiting to find its mate. That is when mates are supposed to find each other, during the moon ceremony each year. Being the oldest male heir in the Sagittarius pack, his time for mate bonding is between November and December. He must wait for this annual celebration to try and find his mate again. Only when the moon is fully risen in the sky and full, can they find their moon-matched soul-mates. They are compelled by the moon to shift into wolf form. It's uncontrollable and find their mate. After Alpha approval can they openly mark and claim their mate. For the royal family, it must be a moon-gifted alliance. Otherwise, they can be banished and loose their royal title.
The House of Zodiac has twelve sects. Twelve packs in North America. There are some lingering rouges that decided not to join the North American packs over four centuries ago, but they now live deep in the wilderness of Canada. Most are damn near feral and spend a majority of their time letting their wolf take over and their human Conscience waste away. They are bigger than average natural wolves because they feast on nothing but bear and large Elk. They not bigger then a Lycan. These Rouges are the ghosts of the Forrest. Living solely on instinct. Occasionally they are able to mate with banished or rogue feral she-wolves, but only during specific and rare eclipses. They can take a human as a mate, but they typically produce completely feral offspring close to the natural wolf in size.
In the past, in Europe most Lycan and werewolf shifters were wiped out by human hunters. They were too conspicuous. These monsters, half-feral rouges, stole women in the night and changed them into she-wolves as their mates. The mating bond of biting a human woman's neck would start the change within a few days, and at the next full moon the woman would change into a she-wolf or die. Most ending in death. If she survived, the werewolf wolf would shift human again and mark her as his taken-mate. Then the inseparable bond would start. A life of slavery for the women unable to ever break that bond. Permanently tied to monsters.
In modern times, most members of packs are shifter wolves. All Lycans and wolves descend from the one original original Alpha. He was of the house of Venus. He fled the old world after hunters took power and wiped out most wolves. He started a new life in North America and the Zodiac Sects.
Drexel needs to find his mate, or he will soon start loosing power and influence. He will get challenged for power as the next Alpha, and they may win if they are mated. Every eligible of age She-wolf within two-hundred miles is at the moon ceremony, and wanting to be his Luna, but time after time, no one is right to him. The bond in wolf form is instant. Uncontrollable at times, he has searched every un-mated female in his pack, but he still can not find HIS MATE. He will now travel to other packs to find his Luna and take his Alpha title, unleashing his royal Lycan.
