Trouble comes knocking

As Tom was wondering why the mayor was looking at him like that he heard him talk in a low voice which wasn't loud enough to be heard but loud enough for the man approaching to hear.

"Please don't tell him anything."

"???"

"Huh don't tell me what?"

Before Tom can question the mayor what he was talking about the young gang member interrupted them. Seeing some sorta trouble brewing Tom decided to take Jerry and quietly slip out after paying for their meal.

"Oi why did you stop speaking huh?"

As Tom finished paying and was about to leave, his shirt was grabbed from the behind. As he turned around to look he saw an angry face of the man who came over earlier.

"You bastard, you think you can just ignore the red gang and walk away huh?!"

"Red gang?"

"That's right. Look, this is the mark of the red gang."

The young gang member showed the red scarf which was tied to his upper arm with great pride. Looking at him with a dumbfounded expression Tom and Jerry burst out laughing.

"Nyahahaha what kinda name is that? Which idiot came up with that?"

"It has to be some kid Tom-san, there's no way that an adult would go around with that kind of name."

Seeing the two making fun of him he got so angry that there were fumes coming out of him. He could not stop himself from swinging his fist towards the older one but before he knew it he got embedded into a nearby wall.

As he tried to process what happened his body started aching all over and he fainted.

"Tch, wasting my time. Let's go Jerry."

As they left, people got out of their way. A few of the diners there got up and slowly started following them after they had walked some distance. The mayor watching this felt relieved that the plan he came up with on the spot kinda worked.

'When those people see the pirate ship and report back to their bosses a conflict would be inevitable.'

Taking one last look at the man embedded in the wall he started to leave for his house. En route he looked next to him to see his grandson walking with a thoughtful look on his face.

"Son, what are you thinking of so hard?"

"Just thinking back to what happened there."

"The pirates?"

"Yes, they seem pretty strong. The older one at least."

"Hmm, isn't that better for us? The stronger they are the more they whittle each other down."

"...."

"You seem to have something to say. What is it?"

"Your plan is good but I was wondering if they deserve it."

"What do you mean?"

"They don't seem like normal pirates who go around attacking and pillaging to me. I even saw them helping some people when I was following them yesterday."

"Hmm, what you say makes sense but in my long life I have never seen a 'good' pirate. Maybe they are doing those deeds to gain our trust."

"...."

Maybe if the circumstances were different he would have opted for a wait and see approach but time was not on his, rather his grandson's side.

The flying mammy

"We're setting off today Jerry. This island sucks, there is nothing interesting here."

"But we haven't even seen the whole island yet…."

"What is there to see? Tch this is a waste of time. Did the old hag lie to me when she said every island is interesting? Probably, she was trying to get rid of me after all.."

Looking at his captain rambling Jerry knew there was no way he would listen anymore so he went to get a snack and thought of nagging Tom till he agreed to take him back onto the island later.

**********

As Tom and Jerry were thinking of leaving the situation on the island was getting tense as the people that tracked Tom and Jerry saw their ship and reported back. The three gangs went on high alert.

In a corner of the town the three leaders of the gangs were arriving to meet and discuss the ramifications of pirates appearing again. Ron the leader of the red gang was the first to arrive, he was soon followed by Paul the leader of blue gang and Saul the leader of yellow gang.

Seeing the others arrive Ron started the meeting and as they all started discussing the matter at hand. Though normally they might not all agree on some things, this time they reached an unanimous decision to eliminate the pirates.

Oblivious to what was happening Tom decided to set sail the next day as Jerry managed to convince him to stay another night.

As they were enjoying themselves, which was mostly Jerry, they were approached by the big guy they saw with the mayor during their lunch. Before Tom could say anything he saw him start talking.

"You two should leave the island."

"Nyahaha and why should we listen to you?"

"Haaa you two, you are pirates right?"

"What?! How dare you accuse us?! You won't find more law abiding citizens than us anywhere!"

"...I saw your ship."

"Oh, what were you saying again?"

Looking at the blue haired guy switching his expressions from wronged to disinterested he let out an even bigger sigh than last time and said

"I'm not the only one who saw your ship. The other ones who saw it aren't particularly inviting."

"There are pirates here?"

"No, I'm talking about the local gangs."

"Wait, the stupid red scarf guy?"

"Yes, there are more than the red gang though. There are two more, yellow and blue."

"...can they not come up with proper names?"

"Leave their names aside, they are dangerous and they number a lot. They might even come together to get rid of you."

Tom just stood there and gave him a stink eye. As he was doing that Jerry finally decided to join the conversation.

"Why do you care about what happens to us anyway?"

"...you seem different than the pirates I heard of."

"How so?"

"I saw you giving food and money to the people in the slums."

The slums, that was a place not everyone would want to go to. The people that live there are ones who have nowhere else to go or criminals who willingly live there. The mayor could not do much about the place as it was the major hideout of the local crime lords.

They were soon interrupted by people who surrounded them. Looking at them the big guy was not so shocked to see members from all three gangs there.

"Well well, it seems we are lucky today boys. The pirates and the thorn on our side are all together."

"Hehe, should we just get rid of him as well? I know the leaders are trying to do something but this is a good opportunity."

As he was assessing how many there were and see if they had left any gaps in their encirclement he heard the blue haired pirate talk.

"I'm Thomas, this little guy is Gerald. You can call us Tom and Jerry if you want. What's your name?"

"...Tyke."

Or as the netizens of Yo-ho started calling him as of recent, the nickname he inherited from his father.

The Bulldog.
