4 Chapter 3: Beating a Bug, Getting a Quest?, A Present?

A roar was heard across the forest as a giant praying mantis appeared.
Kirito: Oh... Sh*t.
[Killer Mantis]

(Kirito POV:)
Kirito: This is gonna be hard.
Alice: (lifting sword) Yeah, we need to work together for this one.
Kirito: Let's do this!
I charged towards the Mantis, ready to slash him in the stomach, only to halt to a stop and block the [Killer Mantis]'s sickle arm.
Kirito: Alice!
Alice: Got it!
While I occupied one of the arms, Alice charged in and swung downward, bringing it down to 1/8th of its health.
Alice: It's durable!
Kirito: Gah!
I flew backward, crashing into a tree. I wasn't able to hold up against the blade of the [Killer Mantis] for long.
Alice: Kirito!
Kirito: I'm fine! We have a plan though! One of us blocks the arms while the other attacks.
Alice: Got it!
We both ran towards the [Killer Mantis], and the [Killer Mantis] swung both his arms downward.
Alice: Dodge!
I dashed to the side, barely avoiding the arms as a crater appeared.
Killer Mantis: Grah!
I looked at the [Killer Mantis] and saw that his arms were stuck.
Kirito: Hurry! Do as much damage as you can!
Alice: Got it!
We both dashed forwards and swung, then chained another swing. The [Killer Mantis] was now at 3/8th of his original health.
Killer Mantis: Grahh!
The [Killer Mantis] freed it's arm and began to slash randomly.
Kirito: Alice! Last hit! Together!
Alice: Got it!
I dashed in front of her as one of the arms came down. I raised my sword and managed to parry it to the side. The [Killer Mantis] was stunned for a few seconds.
Kirito: [SWITCH]!
Alice jumped and slashed the head of the [Killer Mantis], doing critical damage. One hit left.
The [Killer Mantis] brought his other arm down in a last attempt ditch.
Alice: [SWITCH]!
She parried the arm to the side, giving me a clear shot towards the center of the [Killer Mantis].
Kirito: Hyah!
I shot toward it like a rocket, piercing through the [Killer Mantis], killing it.

Then the two disappeared, traveling to their new home, filled with Grim and Hunters.

Kirito: GAH!!!
Alice: Kirito!
The two were both falling from the air, soaring downward at high speeds.
Kirito: Alice! Hang on to me! I have an idea!
Alice: Got it!
Kirito stretched out his hand and Alice grabbed it. As the two descended closer to the ground, Kirito pulled out his sword and grabbed it like a dagger.
Kirito: Hold on tight!
As they fell into a forest, Kirito jammed his sword into a nearby tree. The sword slashed through the tree as they got closer to the ground. As soon as they thought they were gonna be safe though...

Kirito: Shoot! ALICE!
Alice: Got it!
She pulled out her sword and slammed in into the same tree. The same thing happens as the two's descent begins to slow down. As they were halfway down the fall...

Alice: REALLY?!
Kirito scrambles through his menu until he gets to his [Stats].
Kirito: 10 points into Endurance!

Kirito: Hang on!
Kirito hugged Alice and clenched onto her, using his back as a cushion. In a normal case, he would be blushing since he was so close to a girl, but this wasn't a normal case. This was life and death. He looked at her and saw her eyes closed. She was scared herself.
BANG! SNAP! CRACK!
Kirito grit his teeth as they went through branches until the hit the ground.
BOOM!

Kirito: Gah!
Alice: (opening her eyes) Bro!
Kirito: Gah, I'm fine. Crashed through a bunch of trees though.
Alice: You sure?!
Kirito: Yeah, I'm fine. I only have 17 health left though.
???: What was that?!
??? #2: I don't know Summer, but we better find it.
??? #3: Dad, it looked like people!
??? #4: Are you sure Ruby? Normal people can't survive that fall.
Alice: Looks like we are gonna meet the first members of the cast.
Kirito: Yeah, sounds like Ruby and her family.
The sounds of leaves shaking were heard as the sounds of two zooms were heard.
???: (panicky) Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh
???: Ruby! Calm down!
Ruby?: Sorry mom.
???: Are you two alright?
Alice: I'm fine, but my little bro on the other hand.
Kirito: Alice, I'm fine. I only crashed through 8 trees and landed on my back while holding you. You weren't that heav-
Alice: (angrily) Don't you dare finish that sentence.
Kirito: (quietly) Yes ma'am.
???: 8 trees?! you should be injured! Do you have aura?
Kirito: Haven't unlocked it. But boy am I tired. I think I'm gonna...
Then Kirito blacked out.
Alice: (scared) Can you help me carry him? I have to take him to a doctor or someone!
???: We'll take him to our house. It's the closest.
Then two more people appeared from the bushes.
???: (tired) *Gasp* You guys... *panting* run to fast... *wheeze*
Ruby?: Dad! You need to help! This guy blacked out!
???: He did? Let's take him to our house. We can check on him there.

Alice: (sipping tea) Thank you for letting us be here.
???: It's no problem. A guy crashing through trees and surviving is a miracle though.
Alice: Well, Kirito was always a tough one.
???: So his name is Kirito, huh? What about you?
Alice: Me? Ah right. My name is Alice. Alice Kirigaya.
???: It's nice to meet you, Alice, my name is Summer. Summer Rose.
Ruby?: And my name is Ruby!
???: My name is Taiyang Xiao Long.
???: (staring at Alice)
Alice: (blinks) Uh, did I do something?
???: You kinda look like me...
Alice looked at the girl, and she was indeed right. While their hair color was a bit different, they still looked similar in some way.
???: Do you know someone named Raven by any chance?
Alice: Raven? No, I have not.
???: Hmm... Alright then!
??? pumped her fist in the air.
???: My name is Yang. Yang Xiao Long. Nice ta meet yah!
Alice: Nice to meet you as well.
Kirito: Mhmm, cookies.
Everyone stopped to look at Kirito, who was laying down on their couch. The man in question slowly got up and stretched.
Kirito: (stretching) Hnn...
Then he stopped and turned to look at the people looking at him.
Kirito: Uh, hi?
Yang: Hello sleepyhead! How are you doing?
Kirito: Fine. My back still hurts though.
Taiyang: How are you able to get up?! Your backbone should be shattered into pieces!
Kirito: Oh that?
Kirito jumped off of the sofa and cracked his back.
Kirito: I am very durable.
Kirito: (thinking) Though my health isn't.
Ruby then zoomed off of her chair and tackled Kirito to the ground.
Kirito: Wah?
Ruby: Howdidyoudothat?Thatwassocool!Doyouhavesomesortofspecialsemblanceorsomething?
Kirito: Say what?
Yang then smacked the top of Ruby's head and dragged her backward.
Ruby: Ow! Yang, why did you do that?
Yang: You can't just go clinging onto a person you just met!
Ruby then remembered what she just did and her face slowly turned red.
Kirito, who was still confused, remembered something.
Kirito: Alice.
Alice: Yeah bro? What's up?
Kirito: Let's check our gifts.
Alice: (hits her fist onto the palm of her hand) Oh yeah! We should do that!
Kirito then pressed on [Maps/Quest] and opened up [Quests].
Yang: What are you doing?
Kirito looked up and saw that everyone was staring at him.
Kirito: You guys can't see this?
Ruby: See what?
Kirito: U-uh, it's nothing. Just part of my semblance.
Ruby: Cool!
Kirito then found the previous quest.

Kirito's body was covered in bright light, making everyone shield their eyes. When it was gone, they immediately stood up and began to ask questions.
Summer: What was that? What did you just do?
Taiyang: Was there an enemy nearby? Did you attract [Grim]?
Yang: Was that a part of your semblance?
Ruby: That was so so cool! Do it again!
Kirito: Wait wait wait, I'll explain!
After everyone calmed down, Kirito explained how he and Alice were teleported into the middle of nowhere, and how that was a part of his semblance, while giving some details. He didn't say he was from another world though. He would take that to his grave.
Summer: So your semblance makes your life similar to a video game?
Kirito: Basically.
Taiyang: So the reason you don't have a broken back?
Kirito: Truth be told, I have no idea.
Kirito then turned to Alice.
Kirito: Did you accept the quest reward?
Alice: Yeah, I already did.
Kirito: How come you didn't shine then?!
Alice: Check the settings.
Kirito: [Settings/Main Menu].
[Auto-Loot: ON]
[Level Up Light: ON]
[Reward Accept Light: ON]
[Night Mode: OFF]
[Reveal System: OFF]

Kirito quickly messed with his settings and finally adjusted it to his liking.
Kirito: Sorry about that, I-
Kirito looked around and saw the entire Xiao Long-Rose family asleep. Ruby and Yang were sitting on the couch next to them, both leaning on each other. Summer was nodding off on the armchair near them, while Taiyang was asleep while leaning against the wall.
Kirito: Huh, guess they were tired.
Alice: Check your inventory, there should be two gifts.
Kirito: [Inventory]

Kirito and Alice slowly turned to look at each other, before sighing.
Kirito: What did you get?
Alice showed him her screen and he was shocked.

Alice nodded, then both of them started to equip things.
Kirito: Let's train tomorrow, unlock some [Sword Skills], test out our other skills, then go from there.
Alice: Fine by me, but first...
Alice brought Kirito back onto the couch and then she leaned her head onto his shoulder.
Kirito: What are you doing?
Alice: Give your sis your shoulder for a while. I'm sleepy...
Alice slowly drifted to sleep. Now it was just him that was left.
Kirito: (thinking) We've only just begun our adventure and we already met 2/4 of team RWBY. There's a lot of things I need to prepare for, like the Fall of Beacon, Phyrra, Cinder, Roman...
Kirito clenched his right hand.
Kirito: (thinking): But I'll do it. This isn't just the story of "RWBY" anymore. Now?
It's my story as well.
