1 Chapter 0: The Calm Before The Storm

(God POV:)

God: Once again, I'm truly sorry this had to ha-

Random Guy: Yeah yeah, whatever old man, just hurry up and give me a system along with giving me Saiyan bloodline with infinite potential.

God: A system? Saiyan bloodline? Look, I know this is hard but...

Random Guy: Just hurry it up, old man!

God: ...Alright, take it and go.

Random Guy: (snorts) Whatever, I'm leaving!

The random guy gets up and walks through a portal that was nearby. God conjures a seat and sits down.

God: (sighs) There goes another one, getting a dumb system and a dumb bloodline.

There was a flash of light and a floating ball of light appeared.

???: What's wrong father?

God: (looks up) Oh! Nothing is wrong... Is what I want to say.

???: What do you mean father?

God: I'm tired of making these systems and giving powerful bloodlines to people. It's always the same thing! None of them are grateful either! Nobody so far has even given me a thank you!

???: (sighs) I'm sorry I can't help you, father...

God: No no no, it's okay. I'm just getting sick of this.

???: (thinking) Maybe... Ooh! This will work!

???: (out loud) Father, why don't you stop making systems then?

God: ...Huh?

???: Why don't you make one final system, that's completely new, completely original, and give it to someone, then stop making systems!

God: (thinking) Hmm... It COULD work, but what kind of system?

God: (out loud) I'll think about it later, but right now, I sense another soul that is ready for reincarnation.

???: (cheerfully) Okay father!

(??? POV:)

Cashier: That will be ¥300!

I pulled out a ¥500 coin and handed it to the cashier.

???: Keep the change.

I grabbed the bag of food I had bought and walked out of the store, the cashier waving at my back. For those of you who don't know, my name is Haruto Kwon. My mom was a Japanese person, while my dad was a Korean one. You could probably figure out which part of my name belongs to who.

Haruto: (stretching) Whelp, time to go back home.

I began to walk down the sidewalk, people were bustling around. I was currently in Tokyo, Japan. My phone went off as I pulled it out of my pocket.

Mom: (text) Are you coming home yet? We are making you're favorite today, mapo tofu!

Haruto: (text) Yeah, just picked up some snacks.

This was my mom, the sweetest person in the world, or at least, in my opinion. She was extremely good at cooking, and can easily rival and surpass the British man called Gordan Ramsey. She just never tries to. While my mom was the sweetest, my dad on the other hand...

He was the best dad I could have asked for.

While he wasn't a Japanese person, he can easily blend in as one. He's laid back, but he's as buff as a lumberjack. The funny thing was, while he acted tough, he was nice and chill with a lot of things. One thing he liked the most though, was anime and manga.

Guess you can call him a weeb.

One thing I liked about him though was his saying. He seemed proud, of it all the time, in fact...

Dad: (flashback) I will never be ashamed for who I am, or how I act. Even if my brain tells me there's no point, I'll never surrender. Even if my body tells me I'll die, I'll still do it. I won't go back on my promises, and I won't do the wrong thing. I'll march forward, and I'll do it with my head held high.

(AN: This is what my grandpa used to say, so while it sounds like cringe, I looked up to him, so if you have complaints about this, come at me.)

He always tried to hook me up to it, giving me recommendations, or manga from his favorite series. At first, I relented. Then I gave up and decided to read one. It was like an explosion. Each anime or manga had some sort of interesting plot, good characters, and overall, amazing details. I read so much, pretty soon I read them all the time. I guess you can call me an addict now.

I repocketed my phone and continued walking, looking around. Tokyo never fails to amaze me, no matter how many times I looked. Who knew it would be the last thing I ever saw though?

As I walked down the street, I saw a small girl, about 5-6 years old, with a teddy bear in hand, walking across a sidewalk. She looked lost.

As I was approaching her, I saw a yellow car, with what looked like a bunch of Americans, and drunk by the looks of them, barreling down the street. They were heading right towards her.

Haruto: (yelling) H-hey! Wait! STOP THE CAR!

Drunk Guy #1: What he say? Eh, it's probably nothing.

Cursing, I ran to try to rescue the girl.

Little girl: Huh?

I grabbed her and wrapped around her.

Haruto: Hold on tight!

The car slammed into me at what appeared to be 40 MPH. My body flew into the air, still holding the little girl. I grit my teeth as blood spat out of my mouth. I crashed into the floor, using myself as a cushion. The car ended up hitting a building nearby. People were screaming, but I wasn't paying attention to that.

Haruto: (weakly) A-are... Are you... Okay?

Little girl: (crying) M-m-mister is hurt!

Haruto: (chuckling weakly) It's okay. I'll be fi- WATCH OUT!

The building that was hit by the car began to collapse, falling at first brick by brick, then the whole thing falling down towards us. Using my last bits of strength, I shielded the girl using my body. Each brick and metal rammed into me. I felt bones breaking, skin ripping, and blood dripping. Yet I continued to shield the little girl. When the building stopped, people were standing still, too shocked to move before some yelled out:

Spectator #1: Wait! There was a kid that protected a little girl! He got hit by both the car and the building! We gotta help them!

Everyone was quiet. The man who spoke up was an old guy. Some people didn't even try to move. A kid being hit by a car and a building, yet surviving? That's shouldn't be possible!

Old Guy: Darn it! Fine! I'll do it myself!

The crowd watched as the old guy struggled over to a pile of debris and began to try and lift it. It was too heavy for his age, but he tried anyway.

Spectator #2: He's right! We can't just sit here! Not after someone risked their life! We are wasting time!

Then another guy came out of the crowd and went next to the old man to pull out debris. Then another. Then another. Soon, everyone was helping out, both men and women. After a short while passed, the old guy yelled again.

Old Guy: I found them! But the kid...

Everyone rushed over and gasped. The little girl was completely fine, but Haruto's body on the other hand...

His arms were bent in weird directions. There was debris sticking out of him. Judging by the way he looked, ALL the bones in his body looked broken. His skin was ripped everywhere, and bold was dripping out of his body. His organs were probably mushed, and he was probably long gone. Yet...

Spectator #2: His face...

On Haruto's face, was a smile. A bit crooked, but still there. His eyes were dim, but still had some sort of shine in them.

The ambulance finally arrived, and they took both Haruto's body and the little girl to the hospital. As the ambulance disappeared, only a single thought ran through everybody's mind at that moment.

"A Hero."

But Haruto would never know about this. Because right now, he was currently somewhere else, talking to an old man and a ball of light.
