The Start of Everything

It was night time.

Despite the darkness enveloping the world in this time of day, the city of Vale was still bright with almost every buildings in the city having their lights turned on.

Every hard-light lamp posts on the streets were turned on, contributing to the brightness of the large city.

The night skies were pretty clear without a trace of clouds visible, allowing the light of the full but broken moon of Remnant to shine all over the planet, making the world a little less dark, even without artificial light.

Many of the residents were now asleep in this time of the night, but there was also some other people that was still roaming and walking around the city, doing their own businesses here and there.

The city of Vale is divided into multiple sectors or districts: having an upper-class district, a commercial district, an industrial district, an agricultural district and a residential district.

And right now, two young teens can be seen walking on the streets of the commercial district. One was a a young man, and the other was a young girl, both of them looked no older than 15 to 16.

"Ruby..." The young man said.

"What?" The teen named Ruby answered.

"Where are we going again?"

Ruby had a smile on her face as she went in front of the male teen and faced him before saying excitedly, "We are going to the Dust Shop! We have to check out the new weapons magazine that was released this week!"

Ruby is a fair-skinned young girl with silver eyes and black, neck-length, choppy hair that highlights black and red colors, the tips of her hair was colored dark red and was cut in a asymmetrical style.

Her facial features can be described as beautiful and adorable, and her body can be said to be petite and having some little curves.

She wears a black long sleeved dress with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and around her skirt has a red trim. She also wears a pair of thick black stockings and black combat boots with red laces, red trim around the top and red soles.

Her outfit is topped by a red hooded cloak fastened to her shoulders by cross-shaped pins. Her Rose emblem appears as a large silver brooch and is pinned to a wide black belt slung around her hips on an angle, which also carries caliber bullets and a pouch.

"But, its so late right now. In this hour, we are suppose to be lying on our beds and head off to dreamland." The male teen said.

As for his looks, he has a hair that highlights black and red colors with dark red streaks at the tips. His hair color seemed to be completely the same as Ruby. His hair was also spiked at the back of his head, as well as having some sports hair fringes on the front.

(Authors Note: Jin Kazama hairstyle.)

The teen notably has a lean but muscular body that almost had no extra fat and was a very well toned physique for a male.

He also has a sharp and incredibly handsome facial features and silver eyes. A close look and one can see that he has the same facial features as Ruby, but more masculine.

He was wearing a black leather bomber jacket and a dark red shirt, as well as black pants and black shoes.

"But, Jin! You promised that you would hang out with me in town to check out the new weapons magazine!" Ruby whined.

The teen named Jin just sighed before smiling, "Well, we're already here, so whatever. Plus, I guess I wouldn't wanna leave my little sister all alone in the streets, specially in a time like this."

Ruby couldn't help but be slightly annoyed at his words, "I'm not your little sis! I'm like, two minutes older than you! And, I can defend myself pretty well, thank you."

Jin just smiled, "Whatever you say, Rubes."

With that, the siblings moved on peacefully. They have already seen and passed by numerous bakeries, clothing stores, streetside food stands, and convenience stores.

The commercial district of Vale includes numerous shops for the public catering to a variety of lifestyles and interests, befitting its vibrant and diverse culture.

The architecture of this district appears to vary widely, possibly according to socioeconomic factors in the area. The only common thing that they had, is that they seem to have a modern design.

While some areas appear to be surrounded by buildings with well-kept brick façades, holographic street lamps, pedestrian crossing and clear streets, other areas appear to be more low-income, which are characterized by metal, bare concrete and power-lines.

And the siblings were currently walking on the more high-income side of town.

.....

Ruby pushed the door open, causing the vintage door bell to jingle. She then got in the store and was followed by her brother in the back.

The elderly man on the counter, which seemed to be the shopkeeper, looked up from reviewing his documents and smiled at the young teens standing before him.

This was the 'From Dust Till Dawn' Dust shop in Vale. It doesn't only sell Dusts, as it also sells book magazines, tools, bullets, and any other related merchandise.

Ruby was a regular patron of this store and the old man knew her pretty well. Sometimes she came in to look at the magazines, and other times she would purchase some packets of Dust and weapon modifications.

But no matter what she came for, she always entered here with a smile on her face, a spring in her step, and she would brightened up his day from just by being there.

"Hello, miss. Are you looking for something in particular, or just browsing tonight?" the shopkeeper asked while leaning on the counter.

Ruby looked up from under her hood, and smiled, "No thanks, Sir. I just heard that the latest Weapons Magazine is out. You wouldn't happen to have a copy, would you?"

The shopkeeper laughed, "Why, of course. I only got it in today. Its in the back, third rack from the bottom."

The young girl smiled, and flashed a thumbs up. The shopkeeper then looked at the male teen besides her and was surprised at his appearance.

'Siblings? Twins?' He thought.

He's never seen him before, or at least he doesn't remember him. The old man then smiled at the other teen and asked.

"What about you, young man? You looking for something specific?"

Jin shook his head, "No, thanks. I'm just tagging along with her."

The old man gave an understanding nod, and then Ruby suddenly spoke out, "Oh, he's my brother by the way!"

'Figures.' The old man thought before saying out nicely.

"Well, I hope you kids enjoy your stay."

With that, The little red disappeared with a flurry of rose petals. She had dashed from the counter to the magazine rack on the corner of the store, and was already seen flicking through 'Issue #228' of the weapons magazine.

The two people on the counter could hear some soft music from her position, and then they saw that Ruby already had her headsets on.

She did like her music loud, and she was already getting immersed into her magazine. It looked like she wouldn't be moving from there for a while.

"You sister is really one of a kind." The old man said with a smile.

"She's a maniac when it comes to weapons and all that stuff." Jin sighed before going towards his sister to accompany her.

They are really gonna be staying here for awhile.
