5 New Student - Volume: 1

Beacon: Landing Zone

Bell's POV

We had just landed at Beacon. Stepping off the bullhead, I grabbed my singular bag, anticipation coursing through me as I looked around Beacon.

Qrow and I made our way toward where orientation was set, but then Qrow's scroll began to ring. He answered the call and after a brief conversation, he turned to me with a regretful expression.

"Sorry, kid, gotta go. More recon missions," Qrow explained, tucking his scroll away.

"Already? We just got off the ship," I responded a little disappointed.

Qrow sighed. "I'm a busy man, kid," he said. I nodded, understanding. We exchanged a quick fist bump, and with a swift transformation, Qrow shifted into a bird and soared into the sky, leaving me behind, alone.

I continued walking toward orientation, following the directions on a nearby sign that displayed a map of Beacon Academy. The path ahead appeared straightforward, leading me through a bustling crowd of students, who were not shadowy figures like in the show but real people, also everyone here was hot, like a 10/10, it's hard to keep a boner in check.

As I was walking, an explosion rang out in the distance, causing me to pause and glance in the direction of the commotion. already knowing who caused the explosion, It seemed like I was a little too late to stop Ruby and Weiss.

As I watched from a distance, I noticed Blake joining them, and it looked like Weiss was getting angry about it. Before things could get more heated, a guy with blue hair approached, seemingly coming to Weiss's defense. Both Ruby and Blake appeared taken aback by him defending Weiss and anything he said to them. and it wasn't long before Weiss and the blue-haired guy left.

I couldn't help but mumble under my breath, "Who the fuck is that guy?" as I watched the blue-haired stranger's interaction with Weiss and Blake. My curiosity got the better of me, but soon Blake left, and Ruby remained, looking somewhat dazed by the encounter. I decided to approach her, tapping her shoulder gently.

"You good, Red Riding Hood?" I asked, wanting to check on her wellbeing. Ruby turned toward me, rubbing her head in a slightly nervous manner. She wore a look of surprise, the soot on her face a visible reminder of the recent explosion. I offered her a piece of cloth from my bag to clean up.

"O-o-h, uh, just a little stunned, you know?" Ruby replied, her voice tinged with a hint of dejection. "I got accepted into Beacon two years early. When I get here, I explode and get yelled at by a rude girl and, well, her boyfriend, I think."

I introduced myself, keeping it simple. "Bell, and no last name," I told her. Ruby, in turn, revealed her identity. "I'm Ruby Rose, aspiring huntress!" she declared, raising her fist. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I couldn't help but laugh and find her a little act cute.

"Hey, what are you laughing about?" Ruby asked, getting a bit annoyed. I quickly thought of an excuse. "Nothing, nothing. I'm not laughing, just remembering something funny," I replied, and she seemed to accept my response.

As Ruby and I began to walk towards orientation, she began to ramble about her weapon and then shifted to talking about Yang leaving her alone, I wondered who Yang's friends were. She turned to me with a curious expression.

"So, what's your weapon?" Ruby asked.

I reached for my katana, pulling it out to show her. "This is 'I whack stuff with'," I replied.

Ruby looked at the katana and then back at me, a bit disappointed. "Really, 'I whack stuff with'? Why that name?"

I shrugged. "I just gave it a name. It's just a regular katana," I explained. Ruby seemed a little down, likely expecting something more extravagant like a mecha shift weapon. "But, just wait until you see me fight Grimm. I pack a punch," I added, hoping to lift her spirits.

Her face brightened a bit at my words. "I can't wait," she responded.

I then asked about the interaction with the blue-haired guy. "So, what did that guy say to you, anyway?" I was still curious about what happened between Ruby, Blake, and the guy.

Ruby sighed, recounting the encounter. "He said that me and this girl shouldn't be here and to learn some respect, and then yelled some more" she explained, her voice carrying a tinge of sadness.

I couldn't help but voice my own opinion. "Wow, what a dick," I remarked, angry by the stranger's rudeness. How can you be that rude to another person and then simply walk away? Moreover, the encounter left me with lingering questions about the guy, and how he knew Weiss. also Atlesian?

Ruby suddenly jumped up and smacked the top of my head. "Language!" she chided me, and I rubbed my head, although there wasn't any real pain. "Okay, okay, I'll be PG with you," I conceded, ensuring I wouldn't upset her again with my choice of words.

As Ruby and I arrived at the orientation area, we were met with a bustling crowd of students and familiar faces. I spotted Pyrrha, Ren, Nora, and even Jaune, who stood near the door, looking somewhat awkward amid the excitement.

Ruby's face lit up when she saw her sister, Yang, among the crowd. She grabbed my hand and led me over to where Yang was standing.

"Hey there, little sister. How's your first day going?" Yang greeted Ruby with a cheerful tone.

Ruby couldn't help but respond with a hint of annoyance. "You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?"

Yang, not one to pass up a chance for a good-natured tease, quipped, "Meltdown already? Must not be that bad since you met this stud." She playfully puffed out her chest.

I decided to join in on the fun. "Sorry, sunshine, you're not my type." Yang's cheerful demeanor faltered just a bit, and she replied, "And here I thought I could get a boyfriend on the first day. But nice to meet-cha. Name's Yang."

I introduced myself. "Name's Bell, no last name."

Yang seemed curious about the absence of a color-based name. "So, no color naming?" she asked.

I confirmed "Nope, just Bell. Short, sweet, and has a ring to it." I added a small joke, which prompted Yang to burst into laughter. She offered a fist bump in appreciation. "Nice one," she said, leaving Ruby to cover her face in embarrassment as she realized that there were now two jokers she had to deal with.

"So what about that meltdown, Ruby?" Yang asked, prompting Ruby to clarify the situation.

"It wasn't a meltdown, I actually exploded," Ruby explained. She began recounting how she had tripped over some girl's luggage, but her explanation was abruptly interrupted by a furious Weiss.

"YOU!" Weiss yelled, startling Ruby. Ruby's expression shifted to one of despair as she muttered, "Oh no, it's happening again."

The scene that followed mirrored events from the show, with Weiss berating Ruby and handing her a 'dust for dummies' pamphlet. Feeling that the situation had escalated enough, I decided to step in, positioning myself between them.

"Okay, okay, that's enough. We're making a scene here. Let's all calm down and relax," I suggested, hoping to defuse the situation before it got further out of hand.

Weiss, however, was determined to have her say. "Don't try to excuse them; they—" she began but was abruptly cut off by the blue-haired guy's intervention.

"Weiss, let's not waste our breath on these lowlives," he declared. Weiss agreed with him.

Lowlives? Who does this guy think he is? oh, he not getting away with saying that.

Before Weiss and Owen departed. "It's quite rude for the Schnee Heiress to be so rude based on a misunderstanding, especially with her blueberry pet barking as if he owned the place," I remarked.

Weiss appeared taken aback but couldn't help but chuckle at my comment. Owen, on the other hand, was furious. He glared at me and asked angrily, "You got something to say, scum?"

I met his gaze. "I do, actually," I replied, standing upright to my full height, which was notably taller than Owen's. Ruby, however, quickly jumped onto my head and grabbed my hair to steer me away.

"Okay, okay, let's go this way," she insisted, clearly worried that I might end up getting expelled on my very first day at Beacon. I glanced back to see Owen with a smug expression, thinking he had won the confrontation. I muttered under my breath, "Smug bitc-," but Ruby swiftly smacked my head and reminded me about the importance of language.

Once Ruby and I found a spot to settle in, we listened to Ozpin's speech during the orientation. Following that, we made our way back to the hall to prepare for bed.

After walking for a while, Ruby spoke up, expressing her gratitude. "You know, you didn't have to defend me," she said.

I shrugged. "Eh, it was the right thing to do. If I have the ability to prevent something bad from happening, why not help?" I replied, my hand resting behind my head. Suddenly, Ruby hugged me and said, "Thank you."

I smiled warmly in response. "No problem, Red," I assured her.

Then, Ruby posed an important question. "Thanks, um, also, are we friends?" She seemed uncertain about our relationship.

"Sure, why not?" I replied, and Ruby raised a fist, declaring, "Yay, new friend!" I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm, already feeling grateful for being at Beacon.

Beacon Orientation

"The nerve of that guy, he should show some respect," Owen complained to Weiss, clearly still riled up by the earlier confrontation.

They remained at the orientation, where the students were still socializing and getting to know each other. Weiss, however, had a more practical suggestion. "You're right. We should file a complaint, and perhaps Ozpin will take care of this," she recommended.

"Maybe, but right now, we should get some rest for tomorrow," Owen replied.

Weiss began to leave but then turned back to Owen and asked, "Owen, are you coming?"

"Yes, I am. Go on ahead," Owen responded. After Weiss departed, he looked around for a moment and then sat down, retrieving a piece of black metal. This particular object had edges resembling a bone-like structure and featured a glowing red/yellow eye at its center, giving it an eerie appearance.

"I alone will save Remnant from Ozma, no matter the cost," Owen muttered as he stared intently into the grimmified medal. He continued to ponder, "It would have made my mission easier, but I wish Volume 4 would have come out sooner."
