5 Calm before the storm 3

'Onyx.'

[Zzzzz.]

'Onyx'

[munenemunee...]

Raising his voice a little, he repeated, 'Onyx!'

[Huh? What? Where?]

'Relax. It's six in the morning.'

[*Sigh* Can't a guy get some rest?]

'You're my powers. Why in the world do you require sleep?'

[Okay, abstractist. If you must know. It's because I'm technically alive and I got bored. So I taught myself to sleep.]

'Okay? Dunno what an abstractist is, but I have an idea. Anyways. Onyx.'

[Hold on. Why do you call me Onyx? Why did you name me Onyx? I'm not a pokemon.]

'...you named yourself Onyx because you said and I quote, "I'm as hard as a rock and as long as a snake." Thus the rock snake pokemon Onyx.'

[Ahh. Memory is coming back. So what'd you need?]

'Dragonslayer. I can't use any Gamer powers without you awake.'

[My bad.]

'It's fine. I guess abstract...males deserve rest too.'

[Never thought you would say that out loud huh? Gotta put that on some kind of list.]

'It's up there with I'm as moist as a Dolphin's blowhole when it finds a small fish.'

[Ahahahahahaha! You said that!]

'Unwillingly. I lost a bet.'

The plan in the morning was to wield Dragonslayer to break the limits of Peak Human of his attributes while equipping his weighted clothing. Safe to say, the plan nearly failed when Drew was forced to go one hundred percent to simply pull it out of the inventory. Then the next challenge was actually lifting it and feasibly not breaking his back in the process. It's a six hundred pound plus sword. An effort was a must.

'It's...just a heap of raw iron.'

[That's why she's beautiful.]

'No. Don't do this.'

[Mmmmm...Sword Woman.]

'Shagging with metal? No thanks.'

[Speak for yourself. Just remember this moment to realize how much more progressive I am than you.]

'Uh-huh...give me a moment.' "AHHHHH!"

[It worked. DBZ was doing something right. Shouting gives power. Hold up. Did you say shagging?]

Dropping the sword, he eyed his red hands that were ready to tear. 'What about it?'

[Where did that come from?]

'Friend. He says it sometimes and I picked it up.'

Half an hour passed and Drew gave up for the moment. Unfortunately, lifting and storing Dragonslayer was its own task and he dislocated his shoulders.

"OW! Damn it!"

[Pain Tolerance(Level 1)]

[Physical Damage Resistance)(Level 1)]

"Really?" His voice hinted at a growing rage. "Do you enjoy mocking me?"

[This is good for you! You have an unhealthy style of extremely aggressive combat. One day you'll get hit and you won't be able to handle it. This is literally the best thing that can happen!]

"...I hate it when you make sense."

[Eat a Senzu will you?]

'You want me to waste my backup plan for dislocated shoulders? I refuse. I'll get the school nurse.'

[You stubborn...!]

[Whatever. Do what you want. Better pray that someone generous can fix your body before Initiation starts which is in exactly one hour and eleven minutes. Happy searching.]

A pained grunt was the reply to Onyx.

From the outside, Beacon was definitely awe-inspiring. His Harry Potter senses were tingling; he blames his late lover for that one. Ozpin was a hundred percent suspicious so shady things were possibly happening in the school.

To his luck, there was a student who was a morning person like he was. She wore clothes suited for a morning run and her bright red hair stood out. Obviously, it would catch his eye more than other individuals.

[You and red. Disgusting. Bet you would love to marry someone who had red skin, red eyes, and red hair.]

'...'

[No. Absolutely not! it's my shtick to fall in love with woman versions of inanimate objects! Get your own!]

'You want me to start saying zoinks?'

[Taken.]

'It's the only one that came to mind.' "Excuse me miss," he said, startling the young adult as she whipped her head around to spot nothing.

"Who is there?" she probed, expecting to get answers.

"Me."

Pyrrha, who was the Mistral Champion for the fourth year in a row, did something appropriate for his sudden appearance. She screamed as she attempted to strike him due to surprise.

"Calm down." Drew scoffed as he held her leg in place in midair with his own. "If I wanted to kill you, you would be lying on the floor."

"Oh!" She panicked. "I-I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean to."

"It's fine."

"No really. I am extremely sorry. I could've hurt you badly."

"First of all, I accept your apology. Did you process that?" Pyrrha nodded. "Good because I don't want to hear your sorry's anymore. Two, you can try to hurt me, but it will be futile." Her eyes narrowed at that statement. "Lastly, since you feel so bad, fix me."

Living in the moment, she never had a chance to see the messed up looking arms in front of her. It was as if his upper limbs were run over by an airship. Then she recalled the fact that despite being disabled temporarily, he still stopped her attack.

That line of thought brought her more questions than answers. Like why wasn't he healing himself? Why was there a lack of Aura from his body?

"Haven't activated it."

"Huh?"

"I haven't activated my aura."

Her eyes widened. "How did you...?"

"Your expression. You're very expressive." That rewarded him a blush. A blush he genuinely found cute.

"R-right. Do you want me to activate your Aura?"

Drew went into contemplation.

[First Person POV]

Aura. The source of power in this world. Progress will be faster If I had this, but I don't want to receive her help. I hate owing someone.

I sighed.

I guess I have to. I'll give her a Senzu and trust that she doesn't babble.

"If you fix my arms and unlock my aura, I'll give you something precious."

She immediately denied it. "N-no. It's fine. I'm doing this for free."

"Red. I can be unnaturally and unbelievably stubborn for a weak person. If I have to argue with you until Initiation is over, I will. Either you take the reward or we stop talking and I walk away. What will it be?"

There. Gave her an ultimatum. Judging by how desperate she seemed for companionship, she'll probably accept to stay with me. Troublesome, but I'm sure her future partner and the team will provide the distraction necessary to forget about me. Then we'll have awkward meetings or none from that point forward. Perfect.

[Oh my fuck boss! I've been trying to change your Lone One up to three times now and you constantly dodge my attempts like any normal person to herpes. Do you want me to play parent and tell you to make friends?]

[Mission: Punny]

[Do a pun. I genuinely want to witness your attempt.]

[Bonus Objective: Befriend Pyrrha]

[Rewards: Small Exp.]

[Bonus Objective: Large Exp.]

[Tempting eh?]

'Very.' That large exp...

[Do it. You won't do it you coward.]

'It's not gonna work.' It's working a little bit. 'I know about reverse psychology.'

[Yeah? Good for you dumbass. You still have zero friends. What? Are you afraid to have friends? Too scared that you'll lose everyone for a second time?]

You...bastard...! 'Quiet. I have no time for your nonsense.'

[And there it is. Your formal method of speaking. You must be really riled up huh? Am I getting on your nerves, you crybaby?]

Drew glared and his face hardened. 'Begone Onyx. You're relieved of your duties as my guide for the day.'

[Yeah, yeah. Tell the dude who's been trying to help you to go away. Genius move moron.]

'Work your crude language.'

[Yeah? Well, you can kiss my square, abstract, and possibly nonexistent ass. Screw you. Acting like you're the only one who suffers. Who do you think you are?]

[Third Person View]

"...ask. Mask!" From her shaking, he escaped his stupor.

"My apologies. What were you saying?"

"I'll take whatever you're offering. Just...don't leave me alone." It was almost as if she was pleading.

"Okay." He glanced at her hand that extended to him. "I would shake your hand to seal the deal, but..."

"O-oh! My bad." Letting out a nervous giggle, she first fixed him which raised his Pain Tolerance, and then she vocalized some kind of chant before Drew felt something from within him.

[Aura Regeneration(Level 1)]

[Aura Skin(Level 1)]

[Aura Strength Boost(Level 1)]

[Aura Perception(Level 1)]

[Semblance Available.]

Observing his Aura and the sheer amount of it stole her breath away. "Wow. Amazing. You have the largest reserves of Aura I have ever seen on a person."

"Hm...stand back."

"Uh. Sure?" It was an odd request but there wasn't any reason to not listen.

Then in the next second, she immediately understood why.

His Aura flared to life. Most of the time, you can see the outline of Aura on a person, but the person in front of her? He pushed it outwards. His Golden Aura, which was slightly tainted with hints of gray, exploded. No longer did have the appearance of a second skin, but rather a raging fire. The ground cracked, the leaves danced, and whatever was in a certain range was blown away.

However, her admiration did not mean that she forgot her hunter training.

"Stop it! You're going to attract Grimm!"

"Huh?" It was his turn to be surprised. "Oh right. Grimm likes Aura. My bad."

Pyrrha sighed in relief. 'Thank Gods that no one caught on.'

"Excuse me."

Turning her head, she bit her lips in anxiety. 'Dang it! Why?'

"Headmaster Ozpin. What can I do for you?"

The wizard of old studied the young man in front of him. "Was that you?"

"What was?"

"The rather abrupt burst of Aura. Was that you?"

"Ah. That. Yes, yes it was. Did I cause a problem?"

"Almost." He chuckled. "If you kept going, I had no doubts that my school would've been swarmed by Grimm."

"I am sorry. I became a little too excited to try my Aura since I unlocked it not too long ago thanks to...what's your name?"

"Pyrrha. Pyrrha Nikos," she responded, confused by the turn of events.

"Yes, Pyrrha." He maintained eye contact. "May we be excused if we're not in trouble. Breakfast sounds delicious. Right Pyrrha?"

"I could go for a snack or two."

"What will it be Headmaster Ozpin? Are we allowed to leave?"

Ozpin's resisted the urge to let his eyebrow twitch. Provocation. This was a pure and direct provocation to the face. He couldn't comprehend why the boy felt the need to be like this.

"Go ahead. Just make sure to be in Initiation on time. Tardiness will be punished."
