34 Chapter 33

In a room slightly empty room, Reid sat on one of the few chairs, seemingly meditating. Anybody looking at him would think the same thing if not for the tense air around him.

In reality, he was checking out his stats and how he had improved and he was quite satisfied with it so far.

He had been busy and it reflected on his stats. It had been two months since he returned to the village and within that time it wasn't odd for him to have to clear out those who tried to sneak into the village.

They had been preparing for war and the enemy village had been looking for a way to stall and distract them until they were ready to strike.

He trained regularly with his mother so taking care of intruders wasn't too difficult to do. He only needed to put in a bit of effort to dispose of them. Children normally wouldn't participate so early in the war and on such important things as this but he was…special.

Special in the sense that this was his secret task assigned to him by his mother. He wasn't to inform anyone besides her.

The door to his left opened as his mother walked into the room with a serious look on her face.

"How was it?" He asked his mother, to which she sighed.

"It's just as you said. Their aim was to cause chaos by planting bombs around the village walls to be used whenever they wish." She said solemnly as she looked a bit tired.

"They weren't informed until early this evening that they would be coming out here…" She trailed off, letting her son finish her conclusion.

"Meaning they don't know who the leak is or if there even is one." Reid spoke as she nodded in agreement. Although the possible of there being one has been confirmed, they still looked at other possibilities.

She had just finished interrogating the two men that Reid had brought back, though they could barely resist by the time they got here. He didn't treat them with any modicum of kindness as he even dragged them on the floor, their skin scraping the floors.

Reid had also gotten information out of them with his sharingan before dragging them here. He had simply brought them for Miko to check to make sure he didn't miss anything.

"Either way we know that they're almost ready to launch their attack. They wouldn't plant the bombs knowing we could discover them if they weren't ready." He continued, making his thoughts known.

Miko was silent for some time before she let out a sigh. She wanted to avoid war but that didn't mean she would allow herself and her village to be trampled on. As much as she wanted peace, she would fight if needed to.

She wanted peace, not for her but for Reid. Of course she knew he was strong but what mother doesn't want her child to be happy. She sent him on these missions mostly to keep him busy and help him sharpen his skills. He would be much harder to kill if he was able to do this on his own.

She obviously didn't send him off on his own. She had Lisa following behind him to make sure he didn't bite more than he could chew but so far nothing had gone wrong. He had grown stronger and adapted quite quickly.

She was saddened that he would grow up in war but there was nothing she could do about it except make him him strong.

"Knowing this, we have to keep everyone ready. They could attack at any time and we have to be prepared for when it happens." She concluded with Reid making no input.

Seeing that, Miko ruffled his hair with a smile. Her son wasn't even ten yet and he had already done more than some of the older warriors.

No words were said as the mother held her son but they didn't mind. Actions speak louder than words after all.

In the kingdom of Turwen, there was a tense feeling in the air. Tensions were high everywhere and it was highest in the building which held their leader or as they like to call him, their king.

*BAM!*

"Do you care to repeat that!?" A man on a throne demanded as he banged his palm on the armrest of the chair.

Another man knelt in front of him, trembling before his anger as he stuttered out.

"My apologies my lord. For the past month we've been sending some of our men to scout the situation over at that village. They were probably caught and killed or detained." The man in front of him grew angrier as he spoke but he had no choice but to continue.

"Two days ago we sent a bomb squad to set explosives at the key points around the village…none of them came back." He finished as the man finally exploded in rage.

"And why didn't you inform me of this sooner!?" He demanded.

"I-I…didn't believe that my lord should bother himself with such trivial matters." The kneeling man stuttered out.

"Trivial?" The man on the throne questioned as of confused before he continued.

"How many men have you sent out so far?" He asked in a scary tone, making his subordinate tremble even more.

"…thirty four." The other man gulped out.

"We've lost thirty four men and achieved nothing yet you call it trivial!? It seems your position needs a proper reevaluation!" The king raged as he commanded one of his nearby soldiers.

Without wasting time, said soldier leveled a gun to the chest of the subordinate. Before the man could protest or defend himself, a hole was made through his chest.

The king looked down at the corpse with no remorse and a little bit of annoyance. He clicked his tongue and turned to the soldier who he had just ordered.

"Relay my orders to the general. Prepare yourselves because tomorrow we wage war on the Uchiha." He declared with full confidence.

Reid and Miko were tensed. More tensed than they had ever been, well that was correct about Reid but it was unknown about his mother. Something was wrong and they could feel it.

There had been a moment of calm but now it seemed the storm was coming. Reid was swinging his sword in one of the training grounds he had managed to secure.

It had been two days since he interrogated the man and he had felt a sense of urgency like no other. He wasn't sure if he was ready to go to war. Although for someone with his kind of ability, war would be the best time to get stronger…or the best way to end up dead.

This had been on his mind since the first day he heard that war was a possibility but very soon the day would come for him to find the answer. He felt someone rushing towards his position and instinctively turned his blade in that direction.

He turned to see Lisa standing close to the tip of his blade, unfazed but he wasn't surprised, that's how she was. He was proud to be one of the very few people that could decode her emotions from her stoic face but this time it didn't seem like anything good.

The first words that came out of her mouth were the words he was most afraid to hear.

"They're here."
