Chapter 28

{I'm back to my busy schedule so I won't be able to write and upload as frequently as I have in the last few days. Sorry about that.}

The aura bursting out of Reid was enough to make Adam take a few steps back out of wary and a some amount of fear. That was to be expected, after all his aura at the moment is even more powerful than the last time they met.

Sweat dripped down the head and neck of the gun wielding faunus as his fingers struggled to find their place. His eyes widened as he observed the child in front of him…the child he had just threatened.

'W-what is this f-feeling? I-it feels like I'm being w-watched by the devil!' He thought in fear as the cold red eyes bore into him.

'M-monster!' He thought in panic as he gulped loudly.

Sienna Khan, the tanned faunus who has watched her two companions start a fight with a child. She couldn't even call it a fight, they were frozen in place. She couldn't blame them though, she was the same. She couldn't move a finger.

'What monstrous aura! I can't move my body!' Her mind was in a state of fight or flight and she was fighting against her body's instinct to flee.

Adam was the worst out of them all. His body was visibly shivering in fear. He couldn't understand why he was afraid of a small brat and he surely wouldn't admit it.

Reid's hand twitched, slowly rose from its resting point for a moment before freezing in mid air and then dropping. He quickly reined in his aura but his sharingan stayed activated.

"Enough!" Ghira finally called out, apparently frustrated and disappointed at the turn of events.

"Drop your weapons." He ordered, giving no room for argument. An order than Adam and the other faunus quickly obeyed if it meant that they wouldn't have to face that nightmarish feeling again.

Out of the corner of his eye, Reid spied Blake near the door, slowly getting her breath under control. That was the reason he withdrew his aura. He had no problem intimidating the but with Blake present, he couldn't do that or he ran the risk of running her mad.

"I see now that keeping you all together was a mistake on my part. Reid, you may go now." Ghira said with a hand on his face.

He really hoped that Adam wouldn't escalate things but he was disappointed as not only him but the other faunus started a fight. Sienna, being the cunning woman she was, merely observed but the memory would remain fresh in her mind.

"A word of advice." Reid said as he turned and walked towards the exit of the room.

"What's that?" Sienna, one of the only two calm people in the room asked.

"When you start a fight, be ready for the consequences." He answered as he gently ushered Blake out of the room under the watchful eyes of her father.

Adam also watched this scene with jealousy in his heart, his previous fear forgotten as his hate for Reid grew even more.

Not long after he left, Sienna spoke up again.

"Ghira, what is that child?" She asked calmly, though a small amount of fear was still present. He observed her and the other two in the room before answering.

"Someone you should avoid crossing, should it be avoidable." He answered, looking not so subtly at Adam and the other faunus.

Adam gave no response but internally, he still couldn't accept being trampled upon by what he considered a 'lowly human'. The scene with the Blake made his opinion on Reid even worse but he couldn't do anything.

With the warning he had now been given, he'd have to be careful to avoid doing anything suspicious knowing that he would now be watched.

'Filthy human! Just you wait…' He cursed in his mind.

As they left the room, Reid walked slowly to allow Blake to catch her breath.

"Sorry about that." He apologized shortly. She only waited there to escort him to his room when he was done and she got within range of the oppressive aura.

"What was that?" She asked. Although she tried to seem okay, he could still feel her body shivering. Kali, who had gone ahead of them when Reid was called into her husband's study met them on their way.

Once again seeing how close they seemed, Kali couldn't help but smile before she remembered something.

"Blake, where are the tray and teapot?" She asked causing Blake to freeze in panic, her previous fear forgotten.

"W-we forgot?" She replied nervously, now shaking for a completely different reason.

"I can see why." Kali said teasingly, causing Blake to look confused and Reid to look at here exasperatedly.

'Please don't. I don't want that on my plate right now.' He thought.

Upon getting to the room he shared with his mother, he immediately fell face first unto the soft bed. Two seconds later, he sprung from the bed towards the wall behind him. His eyes narrowed as he fell into his stance.

"You must be really out of it for you to take that long to notice me." His mother said, getting up from the chair she sat on at the opposite side of the room that Reid has jumped to.

When he didn't answer she held up a few sheets of paper in her hand and waved them towards him.

"Care to tell me what you're working on that leaves you like this everyday?" She asked. This wasn't the first time he came back exhausted but it seemed to be the worst since he didn't detect her as soon as he entered.

She had already realized that he had some level of environmental awareness. It showed in the way his eyes sometimes followed peoples movement that he wasn't supposed to able to notice.

It first came apparent when he once stared at the door almost two second before someone walked in.

"An idea I came up with." He answered, relaxing his body. She raised a brow at that.

"The notes you've written are more advanced than some of the stuff I've seen and I can't seem to understand some of it. Whatever you're working on, I don't think I've seen or heard anything like it." She said.

"It's just a small theory I've been working on. Well it's not a theory anymore…" He said, with a victorious smile on his face that his mother noticed.

"Anymore?" She asked, noticing his wording. She raised a brow as he raised his left hand at face level. His hand tensed a bit as sparks of lightning lit up in his palm and traveled along his fingers.

Miko who witnessed this, had her eyes almost pop out of their sockets. She wanted to activate her sharingan to be sure of what she was seeing.

'Amazing!' She immediately thought, still dumbfounded as she watched the small light show on her son's hand.

Although it was much smaller than what he use to pierce the assassin, that time he did it with the aid of dust. There was no dust involved in what he just did!

'What scientists have studied and tried for generations and failed…my son accomplished more than that!' She thought, pride swelling in her chest. Reid let the lightning stop as his let his hand also fall.

"Reid…" She didn't know what to say. She couldn't describe how proud she felt knowing that her son is getting even stronger and has done something thought to be impossible.

She looked at the notes in her hand. These were dangerous items. They were his process and steps on attaining this. Should they fall into the hands of less than pleasant people then there would be chaos.

She squeezed the sheets into a ball and walked to the window. Her sharingan came to life as it thoroughly scanned the sheets of paper. A second later, her three tomoe sharingan spun, coming together to form a three pointed spiral curve around the pupil.

Chucking the balled up sheets of paper out of the room, it was immediately consumed by black flames. It didn't get to the floor as there was nothing left of either the fire or the paper.
